chani and his parents' venture to diagon alley was an uneventful trip against a backdrop of grey and rainy skies. they returned promptly, for of course his parents' couldn't be away from work for that long. truly, the boy expected nothing else from them. the days before his departure were the same as all the rest, the only difference was that a trunk was packed neatly at the foot of his bed. he wasn't excited per say, his emotions more a strange mix of anxiety and anticipation.
still, when the day finally came to floo to king's cross station, chani couldn't help the bubble of excitement in his stomach. dressed in a soft knit baby blue sweater and grey linen shorts with brown shoes, he trailed behind his father as he wheeled a cart carrying his trunk it. yeona, of course, was nowhere to be found.
the young boy looked around the station with watchful eyes, observing the constant flow of muggles. they were a strange bunch of people, he thought to himself. they all looked .. tired. they had a distant, faraway look, as if none of them were where they were supposed to be. shaking the thought away he hurried over to where his parents were waiting by platform 9. his father awkwardly lifted his hand for chani to take but the boy looked away. "right, well, you know what to do, don't you?" he asked gruffly. he nodded simply, his eyes shifting away from his parents. a small but deep breath for confidence and the boy pressed forward through the brick wall, his parents right behind him.
platform 9 and 3/4, he thought, wasn't all that different from the muggle station. though in this one parents were standing teary eyed by their children, fixing their hair and clothes or readjusting their trunks for them. chani's father glanced at the boy before nodding a bit awkwardly and looking away. "i'll get this set up for you then," he said as he walked towards the train with his trunk.
chani looked up at his mother, not knowing exactly how to feel. "there's dirt on your face." she uttered softly, reaching out to swipe it away. he blinked at her owlishly, knowing for a fact there was nothing on his face. "do well in school. don't get distracted and don't let yourself fall for the charisma of others. be smart." she said coolly, brushing his hair out of his face. he nodded once, straightening his shirt.
"i know, mom. i'll be okay."
"i know you will." she said quietly, and for a moment a flash of worry and pride flitted across her face- but as soon as he saw it, it was gone. his father came back over, now rolling an empty cart in front of him.
"you're all set up. carriage 413. be good, chan, alright?" his father instructed, squeezing the boy's thin shoulder.
"i know, dad. i'll be okay." he repeated as his father pulled his hand away.
"you go now, alright? don't forget to owl us. and your sister." he added that last phrase as almost an afterthought, the words falling from his lips in an awkward fashion. chani nodded once, tugging his sweater tighter around himself.
"bye, mom. bye dad." he said softly, lingering by them awkwardly. despite not being around them for much of his childhood, now that he was truly leaving he didn't know how to say goodbye. "i'll owl you." chani added as a way of farewell, making his way towards the entrance. his father waved with a little smile on his face as the boy hopped into the train, making his way to the empty carriage. as he peered out of the window his mother gave him a small, soft smile. the softest he had ever seen.
"byebye," he mouthed, waving against the window as the train and whistled and started to move. as the train picked up pace and the station became blurry he leaned back, glancing at the empty carriage. it felt surreal and it felt exactly the same as it always had.
chani sighed, pulling out a book his father had left for him on arithmancy. this was going to be a long train ride.

Myra had absolutely no idea what she was doing. I mean what muggle would? She was still shaken up by the fact that she had to walk through a wall! Her uncle said a short goodbye before walking back through the wall. Myra has never been that close with her uncle as she never gets to see him. Her mother couldn't take her to the platform because of her work, which was probably for the best since she too had no knowledge about the wizarding world, except for that her daughter was going to a school for witchcraft.
Myra grabbed her luggage before boarding the train. There were barely any compartments empty and Myra did not want to sit in one with three people already in one. She finally found one that only had one person in the compartment. He seemed to be her age but she couldn't tell. She was a little nervous and didn't want to barge in on him. He seemed to be reading a book. Myra couldn't get a good look at the title. She realized she probably looked weird just standing outside on the compartment staring at some kid, and she would definitely be embarrassed if he looked over and saw her there just staring.
She opens the door a little and looks at the boy. "Uh.. can I sit in here? All the other compartments are full.." she asked nervously.

OOC Note: Tesla is going to talk with someone else on the train. If this thread becomes active again Tesla Has left the conversation.
Tesla was ecstatic to be getting on the train to Hogwarts. The red paint, the smell of a steam engine, the crowds of other young wizards in their robes, it was all so exciting! Although of course she'd known since she was young she'd be coming here just like her mothers did before her, she could hardly believe it was finally happening. Her hands gripped her trunk so tightly her knuckles were white, and when her mom lifted her into the air in a tight armed hug like the ones she'd get every day back home after a long day of work despite her excitement she found herself blinking back tears.
With a few more hurried goodbyes between the three, not because the train was leaving, but because Tesla couldn't make herself stand still for one more second, Tesla bounced her way onto the express and waved eagerly to her mothers before she started to look for a compartment to sit in. She'd told herself before she got on that she'd pick a compartment she could make friends in! The more the merrier! But as she passed compartments with older students and seats full of chatting friends, she felt her resolve falter. She became self consciously aware of the muck she hadn't managed to kick off of her boots and the chicken feather stuck in her hair she'd noticed in her reflection getting on. Before she could give in to her nerves and hunt for an empty compartment somewhere she could hide, she noticed a girl looking just as lost and nervous as her standing outside a compartment further in.
She rushed up to her and quickly offered a hand and a blinding grin before she could think better of it. "Hiya! I'm Tesla! Were you going to sit here?" She glanced inside to see a boy reading a book that looked like something she'd want to touch with a ten foot pole. "You mind if we join you?" She didn't wait for an answer and had already started stepping into the compartment.

Adelia was confused. And lost, but that was the same thing.
"You go through here, right?" Her sister had gone through before, but she was always too lazy to join her sister.
"Yes, Adelia," Alex replied with a roll of her eyes. Alex was in her second year, and had already gained a large number of friends and popularity. It was ridiculous, but then again, it was popular Alex who was good at everything.
Luckily, Adelia was smart, and good at flying. She hoped she would be able to hold her own at the school.
"Okay, see you in December!" Her mother, Miya Lee, smiled at her three girls, Alex, Adelia, and Anastasia with a fond smile. "Don't get into any trouble, I need to take care of your brother, you know." She eyed Alan, who was jumping around while holding a dripping chocolate frog.
The girls laughed. "Don't worry mum, A. Lee and A. Lee will be fine," Alex assured her mother, grinning at her sisters. "They'll adjust perfectly at Hogwarts."
"I hope so," Miya agreed, ruffling her daughter's hair. "Oh, the trains leaving, you better go!"
With hasty hugs, quiet messages, and quick goodbyes, the three Lee sisters boarded the red bustling train.
"Okay, do you two want to join me and our compartment?" Alex questioned, opening a compartment revealing a bunch of pretty second years. "We have some chocolate frogs,"
"I'm in," Anastasia agreed, following her sister. Adelia hesitated, and shook her head.
"I'll go somewhere else," she offered, waving goodbye to her sisters before walking a few steps and opening a stray compartment. To her surprise, a few students were already in there.
"Um, hey, can I sit with you two? I think the train's starting," she asked hesitantly, waiting for their answer nervously. "I have some chocolate frogs."
