I Try to Capture Every Minute
Date. October 11, 2020 | Location. Wexford, Ireland. | Dialogue. #ff5757─────────────────────────── ⋆★⋆ ───────────────────────────xxxEarly morning's sunlight filtered through the thin curtains of the Hawkins' kitchen. Patterns danced on the floor as the breeze shifted the leaves on the trees right outside the kitchen, and Maggie watched as they twirled around on the tiled floor beside the kitchen table. Her spoon was held aloft in her hand, the bowl of it deep in some Fruity Pebbles.
Ordinarily, if it were a perfect world with perfect people (and a few years earlier), Maggie's mother would be joining her at the table. For the last two months, though, there were no breakfast talks or early morning reassurances about anything and everything under the sun.
This was, of course, because of them.
Since Saoirse had met Albert Nithercott, life had gotten so much worse. He had ruined them. Poked his head where it didn't belong and ruined Maggie's perfect little life by making her mother completely and entirely enamored.
It wasn't fair.
Things only got worse as it developed. Because their love turned into marriage, which turned into a baby. An evil little demon baby who took every ounce of attention and sucked out all good things. Perfect little Theresa had taken Maggie's life and flipped it around on its head. Maggie's family, the previously undiscovered and uninvolved in all aspects of her life, were suddenly all in their business. Everyone's business but her own.
A grandmother that Maggie hadn't known existed was suddenly sending all sorts of gifts to the house. All for Tessa. Their little pureblood miracle. Maggie was compensated handsomely in galleons, but it was nothing compared to the onslaught of personalized gifts. Books, toys, snacks.
It could be worse, Maggie supposed. Being paid in money wasn't bad at all, but feeling so incredibly alone, isolated from someone she had previously thought so close, trumped every negative thought and feeling that Maggie had ever felt. Saoirse had bigger priorities now. Raising her pureblood daughter to come up in pureblood society, spending time with her pureblood husband and gaining the approval of her pureblood family. Maggie was before that time. She was before the perfection and acceptable breeding.
Maggie took a bite of her cereal, glancing back at the doorway that separated the kitchen from the rest of the house. She could hear the light, gentle laughter of her baby sister and the ensuing words of her doting mother.
Silently, resigned, Maggie returned to her cereal.─────────────────────────── ⋆★⋆ ───────────────────────────

I really value when people use violence for me, it's actually one of my love languages.
