Kayla paced.
She checked the time.
She opened the door and peered down the icy street of south-eastern Wales.
Gods, where was Freya Augustus?
She had invited Freya to her house, and has never been so stressed about it. She made sure the surfaces were clean, she actually did the dishes, she took down anything embarrassing in her room, and cleaned it. Actually cleaned it. If Freya was going to here for the weekend she had better make it comfortable. She had even kicked her poor brother out of her room, since they shared a room, evidently, they either had two beds or a bunk bed. In Kayla and Aidens case, it was a bunk bed. Aiden had never really bothered with how Kayla decorated their room. They may have shared it, but Kayla basically owned it. She had taken over the design and layout of the room, the books that were in there, the way they made the closet (clean at the moment but it was usually a horror show), in other words, this was Kaylas room. But she usually liked to think that she was just doing her job as the older one of the two. And her hair...
Oh gods, the hair!
It was lavender and sweet smelling, brushed it down, straightened it a bit, and in other words, she looked different, way different. She had taken liberty in destroying the whole closet that morning, looking for the perfect outfit. In the end, she had taken out a black and yellow tennis skirt pannleled together with a colored white shirt with a yellow sweater thinghufflepuff aesthetic ; she had decided to go without putting on shoes, she didn't like looking taller than she already was. She had, of course, later cleaned the closet, taking her time to fold each individual clothing carefully. Anyway, her father was away (victory!) and she was stuck with Liam instead, Alyassa and Jason had joined her father, bumping the number of them down to four.
Stil thinking of what Freya might think of her home, the doorbell rang.
THE DOORBELL RANG!
Kayla panicked. Was it Freya? She carefully approached the door, straighting her skirt as she did so. She turned the lock. She put her right hand on the handle. She opened the door. And right by the doorway, fitted with an overnight bag, was Freya Augustus.
"Freya. Hey," Kayla said, almost awkwardly.
But to Freya, there was no such thing as an awkward greeting. She was staying at her best friends house for the weekend! And her parents let her! Why wouldn't she be extremely happy? Dropping her bag at the door, Freya raced into Kaylas arms, usually Kayla's job, but since Kayla wasn't going to do it, Freya thought, I'm going to have to.
"Dorie!" She said exidetly, giving her best friend and bear hug. She detactched herself and picked her bag back up, looking around before her eyes landed on Kayla, taking in what she saw. Kayla looked beautiful as always, but she looked different. It wasn't like her to wear a skirt, especially since she was always complaining at school.
"You changed your clothing style, I thought skirts weren't your thing?" Freya joked, fiddling with the button of her black and green flannel.
Shit. There it was.
"I just dug it out of my closet, does it look that bad?" Kayla asked fearfully, almost scared for the judgement. "I knew it, I should've just stuck with a pair of jeans."
That wasn't the response Freya was hoping for, she saw the worried expression Kayla had on, and she didn't mean for the comment the wrong way. "No, Dorie, that's not what I meant. It's looks nice on you, it's just your usual, that's all," Freya said with a smile, trying to lighten the mood. "And you straightened your hair...Wow." Where was the messy, disorganised person she had met at Hogwarts.
"Oh alright," Kayla said, her expression relaxing. "I just thought...Nevermind, let's go to my room." Kayla motioned for Freya to follow her down a hallway, passing by the kitchen. There was a boy with dark chocolate hair, wiping down the counter. He was about 5'8 in height, only a bit taller than Kayla. He had Kaylas eyes too. Kayla gave him a small hug before motioning Freya to introduce herself.
"Liam, this is Freya, the girl I told you about. Fairy, this is Liam, my oldest brother. I think he's, twenty-two now?" Kayla glanced uncertainly at Liam.
Huh. Fairy? That was a new one, Freya thought, it sounded nice though.
"Twenty actually. I'm pleased to meet you Freya," he added, smiling at Freya. Freya returned the smile, shaking Liam's hand. "Come back to the kitchen in an hour, I'm baking cookies- Kayla non," He added seriously, seeing Kaylas hand reach to the cookie dough. Liam tended to slip into French when ever he was angry, sad, distressed or simply confused. He had learnt school in his middle school, it was a necessary subject, their father had said, and then Liam actually learnt French during summer holidays, he proffered English, but sometimes it slipped.
"Sheesh, fine. Let's go," Kayla said, sounding grumpy.
"Your brother seems nice," Freya said, looking around on the walls of the house, there were so many pictures.
Kayla snorted, "Nice? He's horribly amazing. Turn here," Kayla said, coming to a parted corridor. They turned left, stopping at a beautiful mahogany door, there was a sign on it.

" 'A and K'?"? Freya asked, coming to a halt.
" 'Aiden and Kayla," Kayla explained, opening the door, to reveal the unusually clean room.
"Where is Aiden? Doesn't he sleep in this room?" Freya suddenly asked, looking around as if expecting Aiden to appear on the spot.
"He does...But he's sleeping in Jason's room for the night's, because your here," Kayla said, taking Freya's bag and setting it near the closet. Freya brushed past Kayla, going to the desk. She ran her fingertips lightly across the wood, a beam of sunshin peaked through the curtains, shining on her face as she touched the desk, took her time to look at the books.
"What wood?" She asked quietly, not taking her eyes off the desk. "I want this desk, it's beautiful."
"Pardon?" Kayla asked, moving to where Freya was, looking at her plain desk which she longed to paint.
"The desk, what wood is it made out of. It just seems so perfect, so...durable," Freya said slowly. Quite out of character.
"Uh, I dunno. My dad just bought it for me a while ago, I was thinking of painting it-"
The faraway expression that Freya wore disappeared that instant. She now looked excited, like a child planning their birthday party. "Paint it? Can we do that today? Now? I'd love to help! Oh please, can we do it now Dorie?" Freya pleaded, her soft brown eyes shining.
"I don't have paint at the moment, but it's not too late. There's a shop near here that sells cheap paints and supplies, maybe we can go?" Kayla suggested, amused by Freyas enthusiasm. She had to admit, she had a teeny bit of doubt about painting her desk. But there was one thing you need to always know about Freya: trust her choices, they were usually good.
"YES! I mean, yeah let's do that!" Freya said, a little louder than intended.
"Sure, Fairy." Kayla grinned, happy they had already found something to do. "Let me ask Liam though, he's in charge so I can't just go. Stay here alright?" Kayla turned out of the door before Freya could even answer, as soon as she left the room, Kayla jumped in joy. So far, it was a success! No Jason to even bother them today! Kayla skipped towards the kitchen where the inviting smell of peanut butter cookies met her nose.
"Your friend isn't allergic to peanuts, is she?" Liam asked, not even greeting her.
"Not as far as I know; listen, Li, me and Freya want to run down to Hobbycraft to buy some paint, can we go? We won't be long," Kayla added, giving him puppy doll eyes. Which was actually hard to do when your litterally five feet tall and your only eleven.
"Dad said..."
"Papa said we can't go out if it's past six, I know," Kayla completed, almost rolling her eyes. "But it's four o'clock Li, can't we go?"
Liam bit his lip, thinking, his lips were actually quite red already, suppose that's comes for bitting it so much.
"Ok, be back by five, alright? How much do you need?" He said finally, taking out his
Mokeskin wallet.
Kayla smiled widened in joy. "About fifty pounds, I think."
Liam started dumbfounded at Kayla. "fifty pounds?"
"Uh, well I don't know how much paint we need, so uh yeah," Kayla admitted, not looking directly at him.
"Kay."
"Yeah?"
"Just stay safe, don't follow strangers." He handed her a solid fifty pounds. Well, well, well, that was going to be some money well spent. "And make sure you two wear coats!"
"Thanks Li, love you. See you at five."
Kayla slipped out of the kitchen and ran back to her room where Freya was drawing something on a piece of paper.
"Hey, guess what?" Freya twisted in the seat and Kayla waved the fifty pounds grinning.
"Thats so much! We don't need that much for just paint, do we?" Freya asked, dazed. But Kayla just shrugged. "Liams made cookies, they're peanut butter ones, I hope your not allergic. He also says get a coat, because it's freezing." Kayla dug in her closet for a coat, while Freya darted to her bag.
"Why's it so clean, Dorie?" There was another confusing question.
"Hmm?" Kayla asked, she knew exactly what Freya was talking about. But she wasn't going to let on.
"Not trying to be rude, but you are the most disorganized person I've ever met, guess that's what makes you so cute. Buts that's not my point," Freya said, without looking up. "Your room is so organized, the clothes are color coordinated, the colored papers, the books. It's not you, Kay. Whats going on? And what your wearing, too. You told me yourself. Skirts aren't your thing, now your wearing one." Kayla didn't respond, she just mutely continued to push some clothes.
"Dorie? Are you listening to me?" Freya asked, looking up at Kaylas towering looking figure.
"Uh, I don't know. I guess i was just scared what you'd think of me," Kayla said finally, pulling out a peachy looking coat which had little ducks on it. "I know your my best frined. But I suppose I'm just finding it hard to not look, I don't know, nice. I just didn't want you to think bad of me, that's all. Because the amount of friends I've had over that go, 'Kayla, your room is so messy!' 'Why don't you clean it?' 'Can we give your room a makeover?' all those kind of things." Kayla didn't know what she was expecting, but what she got was defiantly unexpected. But she didn't notice Freya stand up straight, but she did notice the punch she got in the arm.
"Ow! Fairy-"
"Now you listen to me, Kayla Madeline Elizabeth-" Freya fumed.
"Eliza. It's Eliza."
Freya faltered.
"I thought it was Elizabeth. Not the point. Kayla Madeline Eliza Realma, don't you ever even dare to assume that I'd judge you like that. Never. Now listen to me carefully, I know that skirt is uncomfortable. I want you to take it off and put something comfortable on, ok? And if I even see you not being yourself, this fist-" Freya raised her right arm. "-Is going to be at your face. Do you hear me?" Freya repeated, looking frustrated, her eyes blazing.
"Yes-yes ma'am. I will change into something else right now." Kayla never knew that side of Freya, to litterally threaten her. It was major scary. Kayla took a pair of sweatpants and went to bathrooms to change into something more comfortable. Kayla agreed it felt nice to remove the skirt, it was tight on her hips and left marks. Stupid skirt. She got out of the bathroom wearing her pair of black sweatpants, white and yellow duck shirt and duck coat.
"Done," Kayla claimed, striding into the room, where Freya was already prepared, having taken off her flannel, she now wore a black coat. Clever girl was prepared for the cold Welsh weather.
"There, you see? All your muscles are actually looking relaxed now, you don't need to wear something fancy to impress me. Because your amazing the way you are, messy or organized room. Now let's go! To the paint store!" She grinned, marching Kayla out of the room.
Stupid, silly, amazing girl, Freya was.

"Hi Jenny," Kayla greeted an older lady, when they arrived twenty minutes later at Hobbycraft.
"Hello, Dear, where's Nicholas now?" Jenny asked, looking behind me. "Whos this lass?"
"Papa is out of town with Aly and Jason, Jen. This is Freya, and can we get some paints, Jen?" Kayla added. Jenny took a good look at Freya before nodding polielty and giving her a smile. "Hello Miss Jenny," Freya smiled.
"Hello dear. Right this way, you two. There's a sale for buckets of paint, going buy three get one free!" Jenny exclaimed, going to the direction of the paint section. Hobbycraft was indeed a beautiful store, run by Jenny. It had just about every craft supply imaginable.
"Here you are, dears. Just come to the counter if you need anything." Jenny walked off, leaving us with tons of selections of paint. It was beautiful.
"Rose gold?" Freya suggested, holding up a bucket.
"Beautiful colour, but let me remind you I share my room with my brother," Kayla remained Freya, taking a tin of white paint. "We need white and black paint, for outlines and highlights."
They searched through the selections of paint for nearly fifteen minutes, before choosing six buckets, each being six pounds, but since there was a deal, they were getting a deal, it was going to be leaving them with twenty-six pounds change.

"That was well spent," Freya said, skipping ahead, with a bag in her hands.
"Yep. Now we can think of a design, that'll be the fun part," Kayla said, running to catch up.
"Mhm, maybe we can make it like...ducks, you seem to love ducks. Or maybe frogs, or something unusual. Like purple and yellow, plus some detail, like your bag," Freya suggested.
Kayla cocked up an eyebrow, "my bag is unusual? I always thought purple and yellow went well together. But your right, people always ask where I got my bag..."
"Yeah, Ive heard the story about three million times Dorie," Freya said, sticking her tounge out at Kayla. "But right now we need to- oh, bunny!" Freya ran to the other side of the street, petting a small, fluffy white rabbit.
"Your so cute!" Freya exclaimed, rubbing it behind its long ears. It didn't move, which Kayla thought was strange. Maybe Freya had a thing for animals; she did, after all, have a pet Koala.
"What are you doing out here in the snow, buddy?" Freya asked the white rabbit softly, as if it could understand her. It moved away from Freya, and hopped away into some trees. "Aw, he's gone."
"He? How can you tell?" Kayla asked from behind Freya. Freya turned around, surprised.
"You couldn't tell? Well a female rabbit looks kind of like a pyramid from the side, a male differs," said Freya wisely.
"Mhm, that's enough Brainy. It's a lot to take in for my poor brain," Kayla complained, taping the side of her head.
"Whatever you say, Dorie. Now lets go, don't want to keep your brother waiting, do we? And the cookies!" Freya started running, despite the cold, despite the snow and despite the heavy bags. She was running, and she was running fast. Kayla started running too, despite her athletically built body, she couldn't catch up. Freya was too fast, by the time she reached the house, Freya was already leaning on the door, grinning.
"Gotcha there Dorie," Freya said wistfully, not looking any bit tired. But Kayla, oh but Kayla was a mess. She was gulping for air and had a stitch in her side.
"Hey, you alright? Want to get inside?" Freya asked uncertainly, approaching Kayla and reaching out.
"No-just-tired," Kayla panted. She collapsed onto the snowy garden, letting the ice pierce her skin.
"Kayla?!" Freya sounded worried now.
"I'm good, I just don't run as fast anymore," Kayla said sitting up and shaking the snow out of her hair, which went from sleek and straight, to wet and tangled.
"Oh ok, am I just...to fast for you?" Freya challenged, a triumphed expression on her face.
"Haha, nice joke Fairy, I'm laughing so hard right now. I'm faster, I just wasn't prepared," Kayla said, wiping her forehead and getting her hair out of her face.
"Are you challenging me, for a race?" Freya asked, raising on thin eyebrow. Kayla noticed how she was still holding the paint they bought, she didn't even put them down.
"Yeah I am! Tommorow, we'll decide who's the faster one," Kayla agreed, accepting the challenge.
"Ok then, we'll see. We'll see you loose. Now get on up, your clothes are soaking," Freya added, shifting one bag to her left hand, holding out her free hand. Kayla took it and Freya heaved her up.
"Your a mess," Freya noted.
"And you, are as charming as ever," Kayla opposed, rolling her eyes. "Come on, let's go."
They both got through the door and set the bags down, completely forgetting the idea of painting immediately.
"Li! We're home!" Kayla shouted into the kitchen. Silence. "Li? Liam!"
No response. Maybe he went out.
"Go to my room, I need to go check up on something," Kayla said to Freya, going to the right.
"Where are You going?" Freya asked curiously.
"Just going to ask my baby siblings where Liam is," Kayla responded simply.
"Ok?" Freya turned to the left, but she looked a little lost.

"Hey, El! Do you know where Liam is?"
Kaylas little sister, seven, turning eight, years old, was sitting on her bed. She had naturally curly blonde hair, which she loved to bits, it was decorated with bows and little clips, it was cute. She had pale green eyes, which looked at ease as she read a book.
"Hes on a call, outside," Ella responded, not even looking up from the book she was reading.
"A call?" Kayla repeated.
"Yes, that's what I said," Ella said impatiently. Why were kids so stubborn?
"Did he perhaps tell you, who he's on a call with?" Kayla asked, pressing her advantage.
Ella straightened up, her pale green eyes breaking contact from her book.
"Yes. He's talking to Papa, now I'm trying to finish this, I need to give it back to Lucie tommorow. Can you, just go?"
And you thank the gods for intelligent children. But when they're smart, they can talk. But it wasn't like Ella to just sit, she would usually throw herself at you, hugs and talking. Maybe it was a school, project.
"What're you reading, El?" Kayla asked, kind of ignoring Ella's request.
"Matilda. The teacher says if I don't finish reading this, I'm going to be in trouble," Ella recalled.
"Hmm, ok. I'll leave you to it, tell Dylan I'm back." Kayla sneaked one more glance at her sister, before turning and leaving the room. Matilda, eh? That was a new one; Ella was a reader, but she normally saved that for school or when no one was home.

"Back," Kayla said, slipping into her room, where Freya was sitting on the bed, immersed in something.
"Did you make this?" Freya asked, flipping through the book. Kayla was about to ask what, but then it hit her: the photo album. She snatched it back and held it protectivly to her chest.
"Where'd you find this?!" Kayla asked, holding the book tight to her chest.
"Uh, it was over there-" Freya pointed vaguely somewhere by the desk they meant to paint.
"I thought I put this away, I didn't mean for you to see it-" for the first time, Kayla felt flustered, lost for words, embarrassed. Whatever you want to call it, but she knew it herself. Inside the album were emmbarresing baby photos, family trips, photos with old friends.
"Why don't you want me to see? Its cool," Freya sounded exasperated this time, like Kayla didnt tell her she had secretly bought a whole box of snickers just for herself. Which in Freyas case, was a litteral crime.
"It's embarrassing. Plus, these are old," Kayla responded, as if this was a litteral excuse.
"I'll do anything! Please, Dorie? I won't tell anyone," Freya promised.
"Oh, alright, come on here.'' Kayla patted next to her, where there was a pillow. Freya shifted eagerly, sitting down next to Kayla. Kayla opened the book and the first thing that popped up was of a young girl with long, brown hair, smiling at the camera while leaning on a boy that looked about her agae, he too had fluffy hair, a touch blonder than his sisters'.
"Thats you," Freya stated. Kayla nodded to confirm. Freya pointed at the young boy in the photo. "Aiden?" She asked. Kayla nodded again, Kayla remebered when this picture was taken: about a year after her mother had died, when they were five years old. Kayla turned the page carefully, it landed on a baby photo. It was a girl, she had blue eyes that were shining with tears. Kayla could feel her face flush in embarrassment. She could hear Freya try to keep in her laughter.
"That's you. As a kid- I'm sorry- baby," Freya said, the corners of her mouth twitching.
"Yeah, yeah, laugh all you want Fairy. Laugh all you want," Kayla said, but she looked close to laughter, too. But as soon as the two best friends made eye contact, all was lost. They burst out into uncontrollable laughter, laughing at the photo, and mainly just being the whack pair of friends they were.
"Hey, girls, I've brought cook- Que diable?what the heck? " Liam had walked into the room at that exact moment, holding a plate of sweet smelling cookies. He stared as Kayla was dying of laughter on the floor, and Freyas' eyes were streaming with tears of joy.
"Uh, guys?" Liam raised an eyebrow. Kayla struggled to sit up from the aching feeling in her stomach from laughing too much.
"Hi, Li," Kayla said simply before flopping back onto the carpet floor, laughing. Freya, however, was able to compose herself a lot better.
"Hello, Liam. Uh, we were just- laughing, haha." Freya gave him a small smile that said, I know you think we look crazy, but just hand over the cookies and be on with it.
"I'll just leave this here," Liam sighed, placing the plate down on the desk. "It's nearly six. Dinner. And then, I suppose you guys can watch a movie," Liam mused. Kayla sat up straight immediately, despite the crumbling feeling in her stomach. "Can we use your laptop? Can we watch on Disney+? Can we use Netflix?" A tide of questions escaped Kaylas mouth as soon as Liam said the word movie.
"Kayla, chill. I think, the WiFi has been a bit slow lately-"
"Thank you!" Kayla jumped up immediately and grabbed Freyas hand.
"Oh my gods, Freya, come on." Kayla tugged on Freyas' hand and half-dragged her to the kitchen.
"What are we doing, why are you-"
"No questions alowed! We are chopping onions and tomatoes, because WE are making dinner tonight. Liam-" Kayla addressed her brother who was just walking into the kitchen. "You are to set up Netfilx for us! And we are going to make...pasta and creamy chicken! You like chicken right?" Kayla added, loosing her thread for a second. Freya simply nodded, both bewildered and amused. Kayla went to a drawer to her right and took out two aprons, one white, with a duck, and the other, black, with a frog. The one with ducks said 'peace was never an option' with the duck holding knife in its beak; the frog one having the frog hold a knife saying 'bug me and I'll eat you'.
"You can wear this one," Kayla said matter-of-factly, handing Freya the one with a frog.
"These aprons are so cute!" Freya exclaimed, putting it on.
"I have taste Child. I have taste." Kayla got into another drawer and took out some onions and two knives.
"You can do most of the chopping. Then we can relax with a good bowl of pasta."

Through about thirty or so minutes, Kayla and Freya worked with making the pasta, creaming the chicken, and spicing it. Kayla wasn't a chef, but these were one of the only things she could cook. Thanks to Liam, anyway. Once they were done, they both decided to set the table (Freya thought it was only polite). And right when they were done with that, Kayla went into the hallway and cupped her hands over her mouth.
"Cover your ears," she instructed to Freya. Freya did as she was told, and had a feeling she knew what was going to happen. "GOOOOOOOOOD EVENING EVERYBODY! THIS IS MISS MADELINE AND THIS IS YOUR DINNER CALL! EVERYONE UP AND AT IT, DINNER HAS BEEN PREPARED AND LAYED OUT SO I SUGGEST YOU GET UP, SHUT UP, AND START YOUR WAY TO THE LIVING ROOM!" Kayla lowered her hands and grinned to look at a bewildered Freya.
"Is that normal?" Freya asked, rubbing her ears. Who knew someone could shout so loud?
"Very. I'm Miss Madeline for dinner calls, Breakfast is Kayla, lunch is Realma," Kayla explained sheepishly. Kayla led Freya to the living room as everyone entered, as well.
"Freya, let me introduce you to my disorganised, beautiful family," Kayla started. "Thats Michaela(mikayla)-" Kayla pointed at a girl with dark skin, she had brown eyes and soft, fluffy hair.
"Hi, Freya! Can I call you Reya? Or Fairy? I'm Michaela, as Kay said, but people sometimes call me Mikie, or Kiki, or Kay sometimes! I don't usually go by Kay because Kayla is Kay, you know." Kayla held up one hand, she gave Freya a side look that said I told you so. Kayla had said multiple times that Michaela and Michael talked a lot, and that was saying something coming from Kayla. Michaela faltered from talking and turned sheepish.
"Sorry," she apologised.
"Dont be!" Freya said, giving Michaela a smile. "Yeah, if you want to, it doesnt really matter."
Michaela simply nodded.
"And that, my dear, is my idiotic brother, also Michaelas twin brother: Michael." Kayla introduced a boy with dark skin too, he had an afro and simply nodded at Freya, not giving any given response. Strange.
"Then we have Aiden, my twin. We dont look much a like, I know. But we both have our moms eyes see, but he has Papas' hair." Kayla nodded towards a boy with black hair, indeed, he and Kayla looked nothing a like, but Freya could see the same goofy smile they shared, and their eyes- the same pale blue eyes.
"Hi," Freya said, "Sorry for taking your room." Kayla rolled her eyes at this statement.
"It's cool, Jason's room is way nicer than ours," Aiden said with a mouthful of food.
"Aiden! Manners," Liam scowled, throwing a small piece of pasta at him.
"Chill, Li. Anyway, I think that's all-" Kayla lied, picking up her fork.
"Hey! You forgot about us!" Ella and Dylan said at the same time.
"Ooh, I thought I was missing someone," Kayla grinned, setting her fork down. "Fairy, meet the last set of twins, Ella and Dylan. Dylan's the one with the really nice blonde hair I'm gonna cuts soon." Kayla held up two fingers like a scissor.
"No ways, you'll had to catch me first," Dylan said, taking a huge bite of food without even simply looking at Freya.
"Call me El or E. Any is fine," Ella said, giving Freya her sweetest smile, which was usually reserved for asking Liam or their father for something.
"Oh, your not fooling anyone El. Quit the act," Kayla said, giving Freya a side look.
"I'm really happy to meet you all, I've been told so much about you!" Freya said excitedly.
"Quit the sop, Fairy. We have things to watch." Kayla picked up her plate and stood up from the table.
"Do you guys have no manners?"
"I know don't, but I don't know about Fairy. Anyway-" Kayla scooped up Freyas' bowl and walked to the couch and Freya was still seated at the table.
"It's alright, just go. He doesn't care, he's just acting like he does," Michaela said to Freya as she looked uncertain.
"Oh, ok!" With that, Freya got out of her chair and went to where Kayla was; she had a laptop on her lap and she looked really serious, like really serious. Freya sank onto the couch next to her friend and peered over to see what was on the bright screen of the laptop.
"The WiFi being horrible," Kayla informed Freya, scrolling through movies on Netfilx. "What do you wanna watch? I think a horror movie would do us good, but I won't sleep the whole weekend after that." Freya didn't like the thought of Kayla staying up because of fear. But a horror movie did sound good.
"The thing about horror movies," Kayla said, interrupting Freyas thoughts, "is that they are often coming from real life events. Not really, but we live in a magical world. Quite litterally." Kayla chin pointed at the dishes washing themself. Kayla clicked on a movie that had popped up.
"Ooooo, Freya check this one! Orphan its doesn't look too scary, you agree?"
Freya studied the cover of the movie, it was of a girl with pigtails, the top of the cover read
"there's so met wrong with Esther."
"I mean...sure, let's watch!" Freya picked up her bowl which Kayla had taken from the table just a few minutes before. Kayla set the laptop down on the table and leant back, taking her bowl, too. Suddenly, two more people flopped next to the both of them. Ella on Kaylas side, Dylan on Freyas.
"Hey- what are you doing here?" Kayla asked both of them.
"You cant expect to have siblings in this house to not crash your sleepover," Ella said, laying back.
"Agreed," Dylan said.
"True to that." Michaela and Michael had just arrived, followed soon by Liam and after that, Aiden.
"We can't watch a movie in peace, can't we?" Kayla muttered.
"Nope, you can't petite soeur."little sister Aiden grinned.
"Oooh someone's been practicing their French," Liam said, smirking at Aiden as they air high-fived. Kayla just looked grumpy, but truly, she wasn't bothered. If there was someone (or some people) she'd watch a scary movie with, it wouldn't be better than to watch with her best friend, and, of course, her family.

"That was epic," Freya said in awe, she had already changed into her pajamas.
Kayla shivered. "I'm never having a baby girl," Kayla said, her eyes darting to her door, then her closet, for a second before focusing again on Freya.
"Chill, Dorie. It's fiction, unreal. Plus, they adopted a baby girl, they didn't have one," Freya added, sitting on the bottom bunk.
"Oh no! My dad adopted two girls," Kayla yelped, but Freya simply laughed this off.
"Goodnight you. You need rest, we have a race tommorow!" Freya said, trying to get Kaylas mind away from the movie they had just watched.
"Oh yeah!! Race! Your completely right! Goodnight Fairy, I'll see you when I wake up! Which will probably be at one in the morning screaming, 'it's her, its the orphan'," Kayla joked, climbing the stairs up to the top bunk.
"Mhm," Freya yawned, setting her head on the pillow, her hair spilling gracefully over it.
"Goodnight," Kayla repeated, closing her eyes.
"Dorie? You still awake?" Freya asked vaguely, but she got no response. Isntead, she heard the soft snoring of her friend. Freya smiled to herself, the day was great, and tommorow it was gonna be just as good.
