Joanna before boarding the train was saying goodbye to her parents. Her mom was hugging and kissing her last little girl before she boarded the Hogwarts Express to school. Her mom said, "Oh, my little girl is all grown up and going to attend her first year at Hogwarts. I do so hope you end up in Ravenclaw." Her dad said, "Yes our little Jo pumpkin has all grown up, wouldn't do bad if you ended up in Hufflepuff." Joanna said in her Irish accent," Mom and Dad please stop it, your embarrassing me." She then quickly boarded the train and entered a quiet compartment hoping to read some of her new school texts before she got to Hogwarts. The 4'5" girl with blonde hair and green eyes sat down to read during the trip in peace, her face was already beet red with embarrassment from her parents before she had boarded the train.

She was a little nervous as she didn't know anyone yet, nor did she have any wizard friends, she hoped she would be in Ravenclaw like her mom as she loved riddles, she had a thirst for knowledge and loved studying, though she did wish her mom hadn't embarrassed her in front of everyone on the platform.

Marcel stepped on the train, brushing his hair back. Another year. He was excited to be back, of course- who wouldn't want to be at a school of magic? But, for some reason, there was a pang in his chest. No matter. Books could solve that. He went down the corridors of the train, carrying a small bag with him. His luggage was already stored away, but he needed something for entertainment. He found that out on the first train ride to Hogwarts. There wasn't much in the bag- a few books, a coin purse (3 Galleons, 5 Sickles), and a stray notebook for doodles, notes and the like. Now, to find a compartment. He wasn't sure where any of his friends were, but it was no matter. Either they would find him, or they'd run into each other during classes.
Full... Full... Noisy...
He went down the line, taking a mental note of each compartment. None of these would suit him and his way of travel.
Crowded... Full... Cramped...
It was then he came across the lone compartment, with a single girl by the window, holding a book. He really didn't want to intrude, but... He needed somewhere to sit.
He knocked gently on the glass before sliding open the door. "Excuse me? May I sit with you? Everywhere else is full."

Joanna looked up from her school text and said in her Irish accent, "Sure, be my guest." She turned her face to the window quickly, hoping the boy wouldn't see her beet red face, or recognise her. Her mom was huge in the wizarding world, she worked as a defense lawyer for young witches and wizards who ran into trouble by breaking a wizarding law accdentally. Her family were always in the paper. Her mom was one of the best witches graduated from Ravenclaw when she had gone there. She kind of hoped he hadn't seen the embarrassing debacle created by her parents.

Her dad worked at St. Mungo's after he graduated from Hufflepuff. It was bad enough for them to hug and kiss her in front of everyone. They could be so embarrassing at times that she couldn't stand it. She couldn't help but wonder why she ended up with the most embarrassing parents in the entire wizarding world. She felt her that her face would turn much redder than it was now or die from embarrassment if he had seen.

Last thing she needed was someone asking questions about her embarrassing parents. She couldn't help but wonder what house she would end up in.

Kashi wandered the outstretched train, longing to find a seat to get the chance to open Hogwarts: A History. Her mum had been very excited to hear that the letter to Hogwarts had arrived, and took her shopping immediately. Mum always longed to see her child be a successful wizard. Her father had little understanding of the school but was supportive of Kashi. Her hair continued to get into her face, as it was puffier than usual. Thousands of questions rushed through her head as she speedwalked past the crowded compartments, like what was the school like, or what house she would fit in, or how would she get to all the classes? Shaking out all of the overwhelming questions, she focused her excessive thoughts on the current situation of the chaotic moment: where could she sit? Knowing she didn't have much time before the train arrived, Kashi started to read the book as she searched for a seat. She held the heavy book steady on the page as she approached the shiny glass door, and tapped on it, absolutely grateful she finally found a place to sit. "Is there any room in there for me?" She asked quietly, and slightly smiled.

Joanna smiled and said, "Absolutely, it will be nice to have another girl in the compartment with me. " Joanna hoped they could be friends, she also hoped this girl hadn't seen the embarrassing scene with her parents. Her mom hugging and kissing her, calling Joanna girl and her dad calling her his little Jo-pumpkin. They could be so embarrassing at times. Her mom had been in Ravenclaw and graduated when she had gone there - she was a famous defence lawyer for witches and wizards who had accidentally broken the magical law without meaning too. Her dad had been in Hufflepuff and had become one of the best healers at St. Mungo's. Her family was always in the paper and she couldn't help but wonder why she had ended up with the most embarrassing parents in the wizarding world.

She hoped this girl didn't have questions about her embarrassing parents, she felt like she could die of enbarras ment. She also wondered if she would end up in Ravenclaw like her mother or Hufflepuff like her father. She hoped Ravenclaw as she loved riddles, was very smart and loved to learn anything and everything she could. She didn't feel like Hufflepuff was a good fit for her and knew the sorting hat would ultimately decide what house she would end up in.

Kashi smiled brightly, very grateful and relieved to have found somewhere to finally relax. She had gotten very so sick and tired of the extensive hallways with everybody yelling, and the crowded space, for she didn't like the feeling of being in a tight space for an extended time. Brushing her curly, puffy mess of hair out the way, she slid open the door. She didn't want to bother the person too badly, so she slightly nodded as a silent 'thank you,' sat down and closed it behind her, then carefully dusted off her robe. She blankly stared at the words of Hogwarts: A History (which hardly made sense to her) without actually paying attention to the excessive paragraphs about the school's events. She was irritated, being bored and still having a long time before the train finally stopped at Hogwarts. Deciding to put the book away, she turned to possibly start conversation with the girl next to her. "Hey, are you a first year too? I am one, so it would be so cool if I knew some other person that has a similar experience as me." She spoke quietly almost, almost at a whisper. Kashi waited patiently for a response.

Marcel shifted his weight, pulling out a few books of his own. He smiled at the girl trying to make conversation. "I am a third year. Ravenclaw. But I remember how scary my first year was." He thought back to September first of his first year. No friends, no acquaintances... not even his brother, who he cherished deeply, could accompany him on his journey. And now, two years later, he's made a few friends and hopefully will have more... eventually. "It's a bit jarring, living and learning in a castle, but it's rather fun after a month or so. You feel so small in such a huge space, and I'm sure there are so many secrets I haven't discovered yet." He closed the book he was fiddling with and smiled awkwardly. "I know I can ramble on, so if I'm talking too much, feel free to shut me up of course, but I believe you both will be impressed by Hogwarts. Not to spoil your first experience, of course. It's something I believe I'll never forget." He paused, staring out the window at the countryside. "...If either of you has any questions, feel free to ask. I do like answering questions."
