The Arrival of a Being
Mikael blinked slowly as he stared up at the ceiling of the tent. His eyes were heavy and hooded as he fought off the sleep that was trying to bring him under. The room was vaguely lit, and the shadows danced across the fabric of the tent. A part of him wanted to give in to the pull of his eyes lids, and the slipping of himself into the abyss. It was so difficult to drag one's self forward. Away from the sinking hole. Though, another and much louder part of himself knew the possibilities of what awaited him. It had been something that had been growing ever since the death of his Mother. The creeping darkness of his mind was grabbing on to him, and bringing along a different kind of torture. Mikael glanced to his side seeing the soft rise and fall of Valentin's chest. Watching him was almost hypnotic. Up and down. Up and down. Up an-Happens directly after thread
A mirror stood in front of him as vague as it was. He knew it was a mirror as he could see his figure standing within it. Blueish grey eyes met blueish grey eyes. Mikael raised his hand to wave and felt a shock of adrenaline hit his heart as his reflection refused to copy his rather simple gesture. Instead, the other boy simply stepped off to the side and disappeared from view. Mikael blinked his brows furrowing as he debated on what to do. He was fairly certain reflections were not supposed to simply up and leave. The boy stepped closer to the mirror peering in the direction where the reflection had disappeared out of view. As he grew closer he noticed that the mirror seemed to be more than it seemed. As if just through the frame there was a whole world.
Mikael flinched backward as he saw the figure standing only a few centimeters away. The wind whipped harshly at his hair as he moved through the mirror. His eyes solely focused on the void of a figure that stared out towards the sea. Mikael swallowed thickly moving backward slightly as he tried to put some distance between him and the figure. The figure remained out towards the sea refusing to give him the time of day. Or maybe he was simply too focused on something off in the distance. Something he himself could not see. The feeling of being watched overcame him even though the figure had his back to him. A feeling of unease crossed him as he realized just how quiet everything was. As if someone had stuffed his ears full of cotton. Mikael's brows furrowed further taking another step back on the terrain, but his leg fell backward as he met air.
The boy opened his mouth to scream as he fell backward into icy cold water. Water rushed into his mouth causing any sound to be muted from the world. Bubbles that surrounded him blinded his vision. Mikael thrashed violently trying to force his unresponding limbs to move. To force them to work and drag him through the layers of the water that rested upon him. Mikael felt his body tire. A thick heavy feeling grew through his skull as if someone was squeezing him tightly. The weight of his winter clothes dragged him down as they weighed down with the water. Mikael stared upward his arms floating slightly in front of him as useless as they were. The light from the surface of the water streamed through the water. In a daze, Mikael could not help but think it was quite beautiful. Something gripped onto his ankle dragging him down further. Down towards the dark waters below him. It worried him how much it did not scare him.
Something abruptly gripped Mikael's right arm. Yanking it up straight in the water with ferocity and anger. The tightness of the grip barely brought him any pause. His limbs were far too numb to feel much anymore. Mikael glanced up at the blinding light encasing his vision. Mikael's eye slowly widened as he stared up at the ethereal being that took up his entirety. The being was so bright it brightened his vision. Mikael vaguely realized that his vision was giving away to dark patches. The image in front of him was slowly eaten away by the darkness. Mikael felt adrenaline rush through him as he tried to reach out too the figure. Scared to be alone within this darkness once more.
Mikael sat up quickly aggressively removing the blanket that had wrapped tightly around his body. The boy's breath was quick and fast-paced. Mikael rubbed vaguely at his sweat-covered forehead as he stared straight ahead towards the fire. Trying to come down from the adrenaline of the nightmare that had taken hold of him. Despite, his breathing the feeling of being unable to breathe with still far too close to reality. Mikael slowly rested himself back upon his pillow. Staring up towards the dark ceiling. That dream had seemed far too real to be simply a dream. A part of him could not help but be terrified of that feeling. The feeling of too many layers of water above him. Crushing him slowly but surely. Mikael rubbed lightly at his eyes moving aside the dampness that rested there. It was just a dream he would try to tell himself. Though, no matter how many times he repeated it. It did not seem to stick.
