I am an only child, born to two wizarding parents. My mother Janette used to be a Hufflepuff. She is kind, and caring and has always been there when I needed her. She stayed home to raise me. My father Edward used to be a Gryffindor. He is brave, always sure of himself, and never hesitates. He works as part of an Accidental Magic Reversal Squad in the Ministry's Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. We have a kneazel called Grinch (my mother named him that because of that cute squashed-in face. My father's Owl is called Rupert and is kind of a family owl. I named him that because of his black coat.
Dad always used to tell me funny stories from his work. He had the best stories about people blowing up like a balloon or a teacher's hair changing color. But Accidental Magic rarely happens on a schedule and was often called away randomly. I hate that he spent so much time with other kids and helping them with their magic but was rarely home to do the same for me. Especially in the last year, it's been really rough. He wanted to spend as much time as he could with me before I went off to Hogwarts, but I'm getting too old to spend all my time with my parents! I want to explore and find myself and not be stuck inside reading "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" for the 100th time. And as much as I love my mother, I want to know other people. I want to see more things than the same old rooms and garden. Why did we never meet other children?
I love the Manor though. It's bright and airy and homey and there are so many nooks and hidden rooms to explore and hide in. It has so many windows and all these weird rooms and the garden is giant and hidden from the Muggles of London. We even have a small Quidditch field on it! My parents lived through those "dark times" they always talk about and never let me explore Muggle London. Not that that really stopped me, I managed to sneak away quite often when mom was busy with the housework. I think they know, but if they do they've never said anything and it better stay that way.
Since I never got to leave, I spent a lot of time running around in the house, reading all the books in the library, and generally being ... rambunctious. My parents insisted I learn to play the piano and the violin and kept me busy with other 'ladylike' hobbies. Not sure what made them do that since we never saw anyone and I never got to show off those things but I like them anyways. If I'm not reading or playing instruments I'm dancing or running through the house. I know that I have my bad sides though, sometimes I'm impatient or bullheaded and I often don't finish things unless someone is relying on me to do them.
Hmm, what else can I say? This essay about myself is hard!
Oh, yea! The first time I did magic was awesome! One moment mom is forcing this bright pink, frilly monstrosity of a dress over six-year-old Leandra's head and then, the next its hideous color changes to a soothing blue. Honestly, I was so relieved at the changed color and excited over my first piece of magic that I nearly forgot to be nervous over mom's reaction; But only nearly. Nowadays I can laugh about it and find it cool, but little Leandra's feelings were mixed over the incident. Luckily enough, mom reacted well and my first instance of magic was celebrated with ice cream at Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor and became a nice memory. And also, mom never brought another pink (or frilly) dress to try on again.

I arrived at Hogwarts yesterday and it's already been so amazing! The Train ride over was so exciting and just a whole experience. Not to talk of the absolutely amazing sorting! The Great Hall really is great! The sky looked so amazing and the feeling of the sorting ceremony was just wow. I made Ravenclaw! I'm so happy to be here! I can be my own person and learn all the things! The Feast was great too, and not just the food too!
