Loren and his parents stood together in a little circle on Platform 9 3/4, his mother carrying his little sibling Fane up on her shoulders to avoid him getting caught in the push and pull of the crowd. Loren's back was pressed against one of the many identical rough brick pillars, and their eyes darted around the station taking everything in. It was loud in here, way louder than they had anticipated- what with so many people pushing and yelling. He rubbed his acorn ring and reminded himself, "you've prepared for this, this is exciting, Hogwarts is a safe place, you're going to learn new things. You've prepared for this, this is exciting..."
His father bent down in front of him and took Loren's hands in his own. "You've got this. You're going to be amazing. And if you ever don't feel it, we're only an owl away, okay? Its just a new adventure."
Loren hardened their posture and tried to summon up the images of Hogwarts that they had been picturing for probably 5 years now, ever since they had learned of it's existence. A place with access to tons of knowledge, a place with amazing new things, a place to make new friends and explore together. The nerves and fear melted away for a moment, and Loren stood in the excitement and hope of what was to come.
Nodding at their father and casting a teary glance at their mother, Loren picked up his suitcase to signal to his family that he was ready to board the train. They all exchanged one final humongous group hug, a few goodbyes and promises to write, and Loren headed toward the train to finally, finally join Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
