Early Life:Backstory
I was born to two British purebloods by the names of Sage and Alistor Nightshade on August 24th 2010. Growing up we lived in North Carolina (US), but as my older sister was 5, we moved to where we currently reside in London England, so we both could eventually get a good education at Hogwarts. We moved into our new house when I was 3 and my sister was 6, seeing as we handled the move to well, and loved cats, our parents got us a black cat who we called blacky (very original, ik).
The house we currently live in is a 2 story seim-detached terrance home, when we moved I was still sleeping in my parent's room, but very soon I moved into my own room just down from my parents, and right across from my sister's room. We had a bathroom upstairs, across from that was my parents room. And down stairs there was a living room, and a kitchen, as well as a bathroom, and just right off of the kitchen was a conservatory.
Right after we moved in and got settled, we had my Grandparents over for a weekend, although it was quite boring at times, we went to concerts and got my Grandma's cooking.
Most normal weeks though, we would often take family walks, play with blacky, I would draw and read while my sister would make origami and sing. We didn't have a very eventful day to day life, I mean we did go to concerts every now and then but not much else.
Once my sister turned 11, she received her Hogwarts letter, very excited, our family rushed to Diagon Alley to buy her school supplies for her first year. Feeling very left out, my parents promised that we would all get ice cream after we were done buying my sister's school stuff.
Once my sister boarded the train for Hogwarts, my parents and I resumed our normal life without her. Except my parents did try to teach me some basic skills, such as math, among many other things.
Years passed, and finally I received my letter...
Receving my letter:
I woke up one early morning to a soft tapping at my window, an owl. Not just any owl, and owl with a very important letter in its beak. I wondered what it was, so I took it immediately and patted the owl on the head and it flew off, leaving me to shut the window (which I didn't do...) Seeing as my sister had to get books for the upcoming school year, and that I also had to get my school supplies for my 1st year, we got ready and rushed to Diagon Alley to buy school supplies for my sister and I.
Wand Picking:
I got my wand the day my parents took me to diagon alley to get my school supplies. I remember running to Olivanders, almost knocking over a kid who had a new cat. I let my parents catch up before walking over to the counter. We were greeted by Olivader himself. I went through 7 wands before I found the one that worked. I remember the light, the sounds of clapping from my parents. I felt so proud to finally have my own wand instead of one of those toys!
The Sorting:
I remember the day of the sorting just like it was yesterday. I was trembling in fear that I wouldn’t get sorted into a house. “Andrea Leona Crane NIghtshade” I stood there, as if they hadn’t called my name. The great hall broke out into chattering, everyone saying phrases such as ‘did they leave a kid’ or ‘go check the train’. They called my name again, and I finally snapped out of my scared trance. Embarrassed that I made such a ruckus, I scuttered up to the stool and the hat sat on my head. ‘Hmmm, a tough one’ I quivered at that remark. I sat there, the whole room was in silence, and all eyes were on me. ‘A heart and loyalty of a hufflepuff… but the ambition, determination, and resourcefulness of a slytherin…’ I felt slightly relieved that the hat might pick one…eventually. ‘which one do you think will fit you best?’ Was it talking to me!? ‘Well?’ I don’t think about it before thinking ‘Slytherin’ I try to stop the quick thought, but the house had already shouted out ‘SLYTHERIN’. I didn’t complain, I was in a house. But what would my parents say when I got home? I walked over to the Slytherin table and sat next to a girl who looked to be in her second year, and waited for the feast to begin.
