I think this has been asked before, My wand is dragonheart string. Can I say the dragon it’s from if I don’t have the wandmaker ability?

From what I understand, yes.

But! You have to choose only one dragon to gain the flavor benefit (no statistical gain unless you gain the ability) and not change it on a whim. Once you pick a specific dragon, that is the one, so choose wisely!
