@Simon Kincaid @Pax Zhang
A few days had passed since Haley had sat with Pax in the common room and they had helped her to move on. She had stowed the box with all the things from her relationship with Simon under her bed since that evening and had not brought it out again. She had needed the time to process it and think about it. Haley came more and more into peace with herself and step by step she closed the chapter. During the last few days, something was going on in her head and she was more absent and preoccupied with herself, her mood bad and every now and then single tears flowed. But the young girl had accepted that it was part of it. Moreover, lock up and move forward.

This morning she was woken by warm rays of sunshine and she knew with the first blink that this was a good day. She knew today was the day to take the final step. Leisurely, the redhead got up from her bed, took a long relaxing shower and sat on her made bed. She tilted her upper body forward, propped herself upside down on the floor and with one hand pulled the box from under the bed and placed it in front of her. She took a deep breath before going through all the things one last time. This time without any tears, much more with a smile on her lips. This was the point where Haley had finally crossed that one line and was no longer dragged down by it.

She decided to give Simon the box, she had thought about it for a long time, but it seemed like the right thing to do. She didn't know why, but something inside her told her that she had to do it. But she would not do this without comment. She sat down and started writing.

Haley wrote a lot, crumpled it into a ball and threw it in the corner, started over, crossed out the words and so the process repeated itself a few times. It was hard to hit the right words, especially since she didn't know what she wanted to say. In the meantime she had given up and leaned with her back against the wall, her eyes closed and breathed deeply in and out, letting go of her thoughts and spent a few minutes like that.

Her eyes opened of their own accord and she knew this would be her last attempt, for her soul now knew what it wanted to say. So Haley took a deep breath, grabbed the quill and parchment and began to write one last time.

After reading her words one last time, she put the letter in an envelope, sealed it and placed it with the box before sealing it as well. Packed with the box, she went down the stairs to the common room where she met Pax. "Today is the day." She grinned at them and nodded her head towards the portrait of the fat lady. "I hear there are still seats in the hidden row." Haley winked at them and walked out of the common room.

Haley walked all the way to the Hufflepuff common room and only then did it occur to her that she hadn't really thought this all through. Should she just leave the box here and write Simon's name on it? No, she didn't trust the students enough for that. But she couldn't go into the common room either so she knocked uncertainly on the door, hoping that someone would open it.

A student came to the door only a few seconds after the knock and looked at Haley in confusion. "Hey, um sorry, could you see if Simon Kincaid is in and tell him to come in for a minute please?" Without a comment, the student left, leaving Haley even more uncertain than she already was.

In the end, he was in the library or the Great Hall or somewhere. Unsure, Haley looked over her shoulder at Pax. Just as she was about to turn and leave again, the door opened again and to her astonishment it really was Simon.

"Um. Hi." She said and just looked at him. It was as if she had completely forgotten why she was actually here. So she just stood there for a few seconds, saying nothing, and it felt like an eternity until her eyes fell on the box in her hands. "Ah, right. This is for you." She said quickly and held the box out to him.

She waited until he took it and stopped there. Why did she stop? "Um, you'll understand when you open it." She added quietly, because after all, she had written the letter so she wouldn't have to stand here stuttering. Haley waited a moment for his reaction. If Simon would just turn around and walk back into the common room, she would exhale loudly once, turn around and skip to Pax saying, "I did it!"

But if he stopped and opened the box in front of her, she would remain there. She would watch him read the letter, but before he was finished, she would leave quietly and without comment, take Pax by the hand and pull them with her around the next corner. So when Simon would look up again there would be no Haley.

The letter
Reducio
Simon,

I know this is going to feel weird and I know you don't want me to give all these memories back to you but it's the right thing to do. I know you've moved on and you're in a new relationship and it's all in the past for you. That's the step so I can do it too, to move forward.

I am grateful for the time we spent together. I'm thankful that I got to know you, that you were my secret keeper, my best friend and I'm thankful that I got to love you.

I'm not going to lie, I hated you. All the things that happened hurt immensely. But who am I to hold on to that hate? Too much negativity has been with me for the last year and I won't let that happen again. So I will free myself from this hatred and look forward.

But to do that, I have to leave certain things behind, like you did. You know me, I'm an emotional person and I need time for that and I need to do things like this to help me process it. And I guess now it's just the time for me.

This box is filled with many memories, memories that made me cry but more importantly smile. I am glad to have experienced them with you and while I thought our time would probably never end, I was and am just a kid. I mean we are 12, almost 13 years old. Our whole lives are still ahead of us. But I don't have to explain that to you.

Everyone needs their own teen drama experience, right? Well, I guess this is mine. I hope you don't mind, but I had to give you these things. You can do whatever you want with them, really, I'm not mad at you for anything.

Here's to you, us, being mostly a beautiful reminder of my, our, past.

They hadn't expected to do much today until Haley approached them, a famililarly large box in her arms.

"Today is the day. I hear there are still seats in the hidden row."

Pax smiled, abandoning whatever they had been previously doing (in the grand scheme of things, it was no longer important) and jumping to their feet. Haley and themself had been planning this a few nights ago, and it was go time. They were proud of her, stepping up and being mature.

"Whenever you're ready."

Just behind her shoulder, they followed Haley down the several flights of stairs to reach the Hufflepuff common room. Pax kept in mind to avoid the prefect that had given them detention-that was definitely a face they didn't want to see any time soon.

Lingering awkwardly behind the red-haired, Pax watched as a random badger emerged and walked off without a word.

"Rude."

Suddenly, without warning, the ex-boyfriend appeared. As Haley seemed at a loss for words, Pax gave her a little prod in the side.

If Simon took it back into the common room, Pax grinned at Haley, giving her a big hug. "You freaking did it! Gah, I'm actually so proud!"

However, if he opened it in front of them, Pax watched quitely as he reacted. They felt Haley grasp their hand and start to pull them away, which they (albeit reluctantly) obliged.

It hadn't been easy for Haley, Pax knew that. But they were proud of the progress she'd made.
