Illowy sat out on the fountain, leaning back against one of the statues with her feet up in front of her, one ankle crossed over the other as she read over the letter in her hand. Against her better judgment, she'd made the decision to write back to her father for once; after nearly three years of ignoring every letter her sent. Did she trust the man? Hardly. Would her cousin kill her if he knew what she was planning? Definitely. But she was out of options.
Every break this year had been spent going back home, and spending every second she could trying to search for him to no avail. She was running out of options, and she was convinced that maybe her father might have ideas where to look. She at least needed to try right? It was worth the try.
This would either be brilliant and successful, or she was going to regret her time. At least she wouldn't be alone. Even summers spent with her mother, she was alone more then she actually saw the woman...Sweet lily,
I'd be happy to keep you for the summer if you like. There's plenty of room, and that gives us time to finally catch up with each other and to try to find the boy.
Let me know when you've decided your plans and I'll pick you up at the platform.
Your Father,
DF
The snake folded up the letter and shoved it into her bag. There was time to debate. Time to think about it. Time to make alternate plans if she wanted to. Honestly, the real question might've been if it wasn't the search for her cousin that was making her consider taking her father's offer, but trying to find out if she truly was every dark thing he insinuated she might've been when she last saw him.
Was he wrong though? Her mother was pulling away from her more and more, her aunt and uncle were beside themselves and her cousin practically vanished into thin air. He'd warned her that she'd find herself alone... wasn't that what she was now? Granted, she had her friends, but it wasn't like she could hide behind them. It was her duty to protect them, that was what friends did.
His words echoed in her mind more often then she'd ever admit."My dear, you're so busy trying to save everyone... but whose going to save you?"
Shaking the idea from her mind, the girl rifled through her bag to retrieve her sketchbook and pencils. This didn't need to be thought about any further right now. Some quiet time to enjoy the beautiful afternoon was all she needed to do now.
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Summer Plans
Leon slipped outside to the courtyard with soft, silent steps, his hair hanging down around his face in one of the rare moments where he didn't have it up in a bun or a ponytail. He'd decided to try leaving it down for today, and he was already beginning to regret it as he flicked a lock of hair away from his glasses for the millionth time since he'd woken up. He had no idea how people functioned with their hair all in their faces. And his ears, god, it was so distracting to feel it swish against them or brush along his cheeks. The idea of someone actually enjoying this feeling was unfathomable. The only reason he hadn't tied it back already was that, quite simply, he didn't have a hairtie. He supposed he could call it an experiment, although he already had the conclusion - he hated this. The way it kept falling into his face and little strands of it kept floating around in the breeze and the way most of it hung along the sides of his face, effectively eliminating all of his peripheral vision like blinders on a horse-
"Oomph!"
Speak of the devil. Unable to see anything aside from what was right in front of him, Leon had tripped over the wall and fallen backward right into the fountain. His glasses went flying off somewhere, and he lay there for a moment, dazed. The fountain had run dry a long time ago, and while he usually didn't think much of it, he would've really appreciated some water there to break his fall at the moment, as the feeling of cold, hard stone slamming into his back was not exactly pleasant. That was definitely going to leave a couple of bruises. It took him a moment to register the person he had fallen next to, and even then, without his glasses, he couldn't really see more than just a blob. "...Hello." He said in a strained voice, for lack of anything better coming to mind.

The girl scratched at the paper softly, building her basic plan for the piece before she caught sight of another student nearing her. For a moment, she figure he was planning to sit on the fountain near her... until the poor, bungling kid practically dove headfirst into the stone fountain. It was nearly startling as she dropped her book to peer over the edge.
No blood. That was always a sign. When the kid croaked out a greeting after seeing her staring at him, it was clear enough he was fine, "Did the fountain just jump out at you from no where?" she asked dryly before spotting the lad's glasses that had slid a few feet further away.
Rolling her eyes, the girl swung her legs over the edge and stepped into the fountain, heels clicking as she picked up the lost glasses and inspecting them. The seemed fine, not broken that she could see. Turning back, she took a moment to look at the lad closer. She was fairly certain he was a Slytherin first year. Illowy took care to remember at least the faces of her first years. After that, it was every man for himself.
"C'mon, get up. You're alright I'm sure." she spoke, offering back his glasses. She never did have the reputation of the warmest disposition, but with the younger students, she tried to be kinder... well, except that one girl that pissed herself, but Illowy was fairly certain that girl would've been scared of her own shadow.

Leon grimaced as he sat up. He wasn't bleeding, which was good, but that didn't make it sting any less. The girl was talking to him, although it took him a second to notice. He was silent for a second as her words registered in his brain, and then his eyes narrowed slightly. "No. It's just my hair." He said as if that somehow perfectly explained the fall. He didn't seem to realize that not everyone had the same issues with their hair that he did. "Can't even see past it. How do people just walk around like this?" From the vague outline of her that he could see, it seemed like her hair was fairly long, so he decided it was perfectly reasonable to ask her that question.
He could hear her footsteps as she moved, a blur in the side of his vision. Other people's footsteps always felt so loud. Leon started to pick himself up off the ground slowly with a small groan. "Yes, I'm fine. Thank you." He accepted his glasses warily, blinking as his image of her became clearer. Leon didn't recognize the girl, but she looked older than him, around fourth or fifth year, maybe. He couldn't be sure. He wasn't particularly good with faces.
"Sorry about that." Leon took a seat on the edge of the fountain, swinging his legs over so he wasn't inside it anymore. He was a little bruised on the outside, but his ego was fine - he didn't seem embarrassed or ashamed at all, more just a little annoyed at himself. The boy swept his hair out of his face again, looking up at her with that odd, uncanny stare of his. "You wouldn't happen to have a hairtie, would you?"

Hair? That was the chosen excuse for his lack of coordination? Illowy had maintained fairly long hair most of her life, though it seems to go through a daily confusion of waves and randomly placed curls. Nonetheless, while naturally she struggled to keep hair out of her face, it was never to the degree that would cause her feet came out from under her. Maybe he just needed to get his glasses upgraded, that seemed more likely. Not that she was about to point out such a thing. One ought to at least try to show some semblance of friendliness when first making acquaintance. Especially someone she was going to be in the same house with for another three years still.
Once the lad found his way safely over the fountain's edge again, Illowy followed suit to return to her seat. Of course he left the Common Room without being prepared for the day. Truly, her younger housemates seemed to either lose or forget everything, "I don't really keep proper sized hair ties, just tiny ones for braids." she explained, reaching to dig in her bag before pulling out a short, slender stick, "Here, these work better. Do you know how to use a hair stick?" hair sticks and forks were her usual go to for keeping her hair up and out of the way, next to good-ol-fashioned pins. In her experience, they never fell loose and never wore out. Plus, they always looked so lovely and she'd created quite a collection of them for herself of different styles.

Leon didn't seem to notice her skepticism with his excuse as he continued speaking. "I usually keep it up out of my face, but I'd decided to try having it down today, and it's awful. It keeps falling in front of my eyes no matter how many times I move it." He frowned. "And to think some people enjoy this!" Such a simple thing, and yet it seemed to bother him so much. The young Slytherin was generally very put-together and formal, and it was a strange sight to see him this annoyed about something - or really with this much emotion at all. Granted, it also wasn't common to see him with his hair down, something that now only this girl he hadn't met before had the honor of. "It's so distracting, too, the way it keeps swishing around. I can't focus on anything. Real shoddy experiment, isn't it?" He looked back up at her like he was waiting for an answer, subtle choosing to ignore the fact that he'd just dumped all that out onto a complete stranger.
Leon examined the stick curiously. "No, I don't. How?" Part of his interest was just pure curiosity since he'd never seen one of these before, let alone learned how to use one, and the other part of him just desperately wanted his hair out of his face before it drove him crazy. And she said they worked better, too, which was an added bonus.

It was beyond her how anyone with longer hair couldn't somehow mange to keep it out of their face well enough. Truly, was it that terribly difficult of a task? When she'd been afflicted by the curse, she'd spent over years years with her hair in her face intentionally to hide the black scars that had stretched over her cheek. Never once did she fall into a fountain or trip over her own feet because of it.
Never the less, she handed the hair stick to the lad before reaching into her hair to remove the stick that was holding her own half bun in place, "It takes practice to get good and fast at it, but once you've got it it's super easy. I even put my hair up this way for dueling matches, and I've never had my hair fall out of it." she told him.
Gathering her long, dark tresses up, she started to explain, "Pull it all up however high you like it, and twist it all," she began, doing to as she explained, "You don't want it super tight, else the next part is hard, but once you have it somewhere in the middle of tightly and loosely twisted you wind it all up into a bun." holding the hair in place with one hand. she reached to pick up the her hair stick once more, "This can be the tricky because you have to use the stick and a bit of hair to make enough tension that the rest doesn't move." the older snake turned around, tilting her head back slightly so he could see what she was doing.
With the stick, she picked up a bit of hair with the pointed end of the stick before pulling it tightly over to the opposite side of the bun. Taking care to make sure it was tight, she then carefully shoved the stick through the twisted center. Once she felt confident that it was secure, the shook her head a bit to show how the bun refused to give way and stayed in place, "See? Easy. And after a bit, pretty much any straight, stick-like thing works." she spoke as she turned back around to face him.
Reducioooc : Not me having to find my hair stick and actually put my hair up because I couldn't remember how to explain it :'D
