Love's Train
Finally. It seemed like the year had lasted forever, though she managed to accomplish the bare minimum. Emma was establishing a deficient example for her house. Maybe she would've paid more attention to her classes if she wasn't attempting to unmask every Hogwarts treasure. The latter proved to accommodate her mischievous personality, and besides, as long as she graduated with adequate marks, there wasn't much she could do to upset her father. Even to this day, she was still unsure how her father managed to acquire his 'proof of completion.'
Her ol' reliable, enchanted backpack was dangling from her shoulders. It was difficult to tell at first glance the young brunette was harboring a year's worth of clothing, shoes, textbooks, and formal wear, but her spellwork wasn't perfect. Thrusting against the material, one of her sparkly heels pivoted around with every step she took. Not much had changed; she was bearing the weight of her past and wouldn't let up now.
The Ravenclaw was one of the many to stay behind as she watched the Hogwarts Express chug off into Upper London. After boasting to her siblings, it would be hypocritical to leave the area without smuggling some of the delectable sweets from Honeyduke. It would be the only way she endured the train ride without falling asleep, and she made a pledge to never rest her eyes again after catching a glimpse of a few second-years throwing dungbombs into the train compartments. While somewhat annoying, she couldn't get mad at the same prank she pulled on one of the students back in her second year. Everything seemed so straightforward back then.
Barricading anything she could, Emma threw her hand above her forehead. It shouldn't have been a surprise, given the early July weather, but she was no summer girl and despised the sticky sensation of sweat and the constant showers. Step by step, her soles collided with the pavement, keeping her head down and away from the sun. As if with every stride she took, her weight got heavier, she wasn't imagining or dramatising it. The beater was used to regulating heavy weights, she did play Quidditch after all. Needless to say, she needed to practice her spellwork. With the Trace still on, however, there was little to no possibility of fulfilling that this season.
Taking a sneak peek at the train lined up behind the station, she threw her head high and marched. Only a bit longer, she told herself. However, the weight on her back alleviated as her focus redirected to a familiar figure standing outside the doors.
Though she couldn't feel it form, a slight smirk toyed with the corners of her lips. She was quick to break her stare, searching for his lover, or her enemy since day one. She was one step ahead of Aurelia, though that's how things commonly played out. What better way to start the summer break? This was perfect. Readjusting her bag, she swung it over both shoulders and approached the boy with a smile that perked her cheeks.
"Hadrian, right?" Though she put a Hispanic twang on his name, Emma halted a few paces in front of him, swaying her waistline from side to side to attract his attention. "Oh, love, it's awfully hot, please step into the shade." She stepped into the awning, and although the glisten from her eyes disappeared, an equivalent warmth remained and met his. The brunette had taken the time to do her disheveled, frizzy hair. There was a subtle beach curl that covered a portion of her eye, something she'd gotten used to. Her cheeks, which had turned a bright red in the sun, had begun to soften gradually and expose her smile.
"Waiting for Aurelia?" She questioned with ease. The girl had no problem gossiping, especially when it came to the Gryffindor. "Welp, train doesn't leave for a while. How've you been?" It seemed like she was interrogating him: question after question, but it was how she communicated with others. What was the point of the conversation if you received nothing in return? Besides, it wasn't like she was on bad terms with the lover. Hopefully, it wouldn't come to that, but a suitable first impression was crucial and she genuinely wanted to learn more about him... well, sort of, anyway. There would be no complaints if she learned something new about Aurelia through him.
"Did I ever introduce myself? Emma," she extended a hand, offering no more information about herself. She wasn't big on last names, though her current had no connection to the Wizarding World: at least she assumed. If you would've told Emma that her mother somehow had a linkage to magic other than her father, she would've believed you. With some research of her own, of course.@Aurelia Notrésvace

Love's Train
Hadrian hadn't considered much before splashing a drink on your betrothed's dress. At the worse, he expected some repercussions like a dreadful earful of a lecture. What he didn't expect was the engagement ring to be owled in an envelope and far too long of the silent treatment. It put him in a state of unease. A year into the arrangement, they've only learnt to talk it out to settle any dissents a year back, but he truly wondered if he toed too far into her boundaries this time.
Now the American was here, far from home. Redemption, was all on his mind, for now. The train finally chugged into view and students soon poured out by the dozens. Hadrian, right? His attention was summoned by a girl approaching him, her face unfamiliar yet so gorgeous under all the glorious rays of the sun. Despite his best recollection, the girl remained a stranger to him, but that didn't matter now. Then it became clear, that this girl knew Aurelia, more surprisingly, his relationship with her. Surely given the dynamics of their relationship, surely Aurelia wasn't one to divulge to just anyone.
."Pleasure to meet you, Emma. You two must be close I would assume?" He joined his new acquaintance under the shade away from the sweltering heat of the sun. He'd take her hand, giving a firm shake "Travelling from America to London is an endeavour. But, man, Aurelia might not forgive me if I wasn't here. I don't know how she does it but she terrifies me sometimes."

Love's Train
The Ravenclaw and Aurelia closely resembled rain; sometimes heavy, and occasionally light but nevertheless stuck together falling in one direction, down. Whether it was fate or cruel misfortune, one thing was certain. She would never be able to shake those crystal blue eyes, so there was no shame in stirring the pot a bit. It was never hard to weather the storm, especially when she was the one testing the waters with the Gryffindor. She was always prepared for a bumpy ride, for Emma loved to rock the boat in a storm, but not hers, of course.
"You as well," she released his grip, pocketing her hand in another. This was perhaps an all-time low for the girl, messing, even flirting, with another's lover. Between the whole slug incident and earning several spots in detention, it was needless to say she had built an entire reservoir of things to hold against her. Despite a rather short-term memory, she was amazing at holding grudges with those that wrong her and Aurelia was a close second on her hitlist with a tie for first.
Holding eye contact with the boy, the brunette internally winced at her actions. Her head was everywhere and out of focus. School and boys didn't interest her anymore. Though a big chunk of her life, she just couldn't pull the motivation to care about her marks, and she wouldn't stoop to the girl's level and find a lover. It simply wasn't... interesting, though she could find nothing else to train her mind on. Well, there was one thing, but nothing she wanted to focus on. After all, it's summer break.
"Oh my goodness, yes!" She beamed, letting her hands do more talking than her tongue. "I was actually waiting for her, say my goodbyes before... well, what part of America are you from again?" It was an inferred guess, assuming Aurelia would be doing more than acquiring a summer job like herself. How pathetic, she thought to herself. While Emma would be out providing her own source of income, little miss perfect would be collecting from her betrothed. She was no better than any other gold-digging wife she'd witnessed on television.
"Awe, aren't you just a sweetheart. I imagine it's much past midnight over there." She prodded, throwing him a light compliment as she shifted the weight in her foot. Unsure why, but it was amusing to hear the foreign speak to her. She hadn't heard the accent in a while, not since her first encounter with an Ilvermorny student. "She definitely keeps me on my toes," she paused to calculate her next words. "Never know what to expect with that one."

Love's Train
"Virginia. It should be past sunrise there. On a typical day, I would be having my morning coffee... but here I am..." he replied. If only Aurelia was this enthusiastic and vibrant, Hadrian would definitely enjoy being around her more, yet he was stuck with her. At least Aurelia was pretty, additionally, their semi-polygamous dynamic allowed both parties to have some time away from each other - easing tension that build up over time. But with how betrothals work, she would still be the one and only he was supposed to be with.
But Emma, there was no harm in flirting with her was there, after all, if Aurelia were to cease contact for months at her time, presumably with her newly acquired sweetheart, why wouldn't he have a flirty conversation with another for just a bit? He leaned casually against the structural supporting poles. "So, Emma, any plans for the summer? I'd be around the Cheshire region for a few months." Where the Bezuidenhout properties were at and which would be his accommodation for who-knows-when. The Bezuidenhouts and Zuheirs, despite the marriage yet to be official, were already growing familiar bonds, her mother was already treating Aurelia like a daughter.

Love's Train
Sometimes, people were only meant to be in your life for a season. Unsure from where, but this quote had stuck to her for months. Whether it was a television show's season or a quarter of the year, no one was bound to stay together, especially not in the jumbled confusion of Hogwarts. She assumed the same for Aurelia and her pairing, though she had indeed landed the jackpot. It would be difficult to fumble him, but the Ravenclaw knew her opposer would discover a way to screw things over. In fact, she was betting on it.
Relationships were strange. Meet the presumed love of your life, talk for eight months (if they lasted that long), cut each other off, grieve a little or a lot, and never look back. It sounded like a very messy venture, especially in her inconsistent adolescent years, but Emma couldn't help but daydream about the future with her perfect someone. It actually didn't sound too ominous; she obviously had what it took to tease her way into a relationship.
"Ahhh," the brunette noted absent-mindedly, hoping her grade four geography lessons would come in handy. That was a while ago, and definitely not the few American states she frequently came across in the news. It was no Florida and was no California. "She'll thank you for how supportive you are."
As she listened to Hadrian in the scalding warmth, Emma was at a loss for words. While she considered her confidence high, she just couldn't find much to relate to the boy beside the obvious. She didn't even want to think about the Gryffindor, much less converse about her. She had accumulated many years' worth of hate for the girl. Yet, she was constantly putting herself in situations that contradicted her apathy. She dropped her backpack to the ground, alluding to the sense of amenity. Plus, it was beginning to weigh down her figure. "Ugh, sorry, that thing," she tittered, glancing off in the direction of the train. "Though that's a shame, I'm more on the Cambridge side.
I've thought about applying for a Muggle job, maybe the local supermarket," the Ravenclaw answered, weighing the pros and cons of working in retail. While her father provided all that he made, the money was valueless in the Muggle world. "There are some local restaurants that would probably call security if I tried to pay with galleons. Really really good food though, my family went a while ago. You? Are you working this summer?"
She threw another glance at the train, insuring her siblings had made it on time. "Or spending time with Mrs... well, whatever your last name is," the girl giggled.
