Ah. A fresh start.

Vittoria made her way down to the basement for Potions, a slight bounce in her step as there always tended to be. Sure, maybe it wasn't her best class, but it could still certainly count as one of her favorites. The combination of working together as a team to create magical antidotes and poisons and other liquids of various other effects was fascinating to the Ravenclaw. After all, how often did you see the same ingredients have astronomically different results depending on which way you stirred them? Absolutely mindblowing.

Now, Vittoria wouldn't pretend it made sense to her, no. She was even mildly befuddled on how they changed colors, the merest of things, let alone how they could have incredible capabilities beyond that of even some spells. She had been barely scraping by in the class all year, more interested in the process and engaging in it than the philosophies and rules behind it.

Could she whip you up a potion on demand? Sure! Maybe- if she knew it well enough, had participated in creating it. But asking her why such ingredients prepared in such ways yielded such results would result in nothing but a bout of silence for the questioner.

Nevertheless, it was a class she had to take and even enjoyed often, and she found a smile on her face as she pushed into the quite dreary underground room, eyes flickering to the notice board in the front of the class that would often detail lesson plans for the day.

She took her spot at her usual- front, off to the side so she wasn't the direct center of attention and occasional criticism. She tended to let potion partners come to her- or, if the room dwindled down to just friends, she'd happily partner with whoever was left. Vittoria enjoyed working with a new mind, a new set of ideas and skill in the subject.

So, there she sat, waiting for the lesson to begin.

Mireia was very early to Potions class today, but that was because it was an very important day. It was the final exam for the Muffling Drought potion and Mireia was nervous, as she always was. Although, and she would tell herself such, she really didn't need to be. She was fantastic at potions, getting trait Os all year long so far. Perhaps that was part of where the nervousness came from, the idea that she could ruin her streak so easily with one mistake.

This day was particular anxiety inducing as the exam was a partner exam. Normally they would be allowed to choose partners, but the Professor let it drop last class that this time around their partners would be assigned. It was not a proper announcement, instead it was mentioned briefly and quickly after the bell had already ring for class to end, so Mireia felt lucky to have overheard. But of course this made her even more nervous.

She sat at her normal desk in the dungeon classroom, located near the front and close to the board. Slowly the classroom filled in as students rushed from other periods. Mireia had her notes open, studying the Muffling Drought even though she really did know the recipie by heart by now.

Once the bell rang she lifted her head from her notes and stared at the board at the front of the room. Slowly names began to magically appear on the surface, the assigned partner groups.

Mireia anxiously looked her her name and prayed that she was paired with her normal partner, another straight O student. Though she knew that was probably not possible. Soo e bought her name appeared and next to it, Vittoria Ricci, a fellow Ravenclaw girl that Mireia recognized fork this class. They had never spoken one on one, but she knew her face and name as they had been in class together all year and were in the same house.

Mireia, however, did not know this girl's potion making ability. The bright side, though, was at least she knew who the girl was and was able to find her in the classroom without having to aimlessly ask for names. That was always embarrassing.

She located the girl in another part of the classroom, still in the front, but a little off to the side. Not a bad location, but Mireia would prefer to stay at her spot. Made her a little more comfortable and she felt she had more access to the front board and the Professor. Not that those would help in an exam, but still.

"Hey, Vittoria," she called across the room, "over here!" Waving the girl over to her desk. She hoped she wouldn't mind moving. While she waited she unpacked her cauldron and made sure her notes were put away, as they were not allowed during the exam, unfortunately.
