"The Lost Ship of Words and Numbers", that was the note that team 3 would find sticking to the door of the study room. They would find the room vacant apart from perhaps one or two students, but on weekends, many couldn't be bothered to study so much again.
Opeila had greeted all the teams in the common room, sent them to their escape rooms and then left with the three champions.

The four Slytherins would find the Study Room to be slightly altered. Not much, but the bookshelf at the wall was... different. The books in it were labeled now, with the letters A to Z and four more with XXVII, XXVIII, XXIX and XXX. On the side of the shelf were three more notes, stuck to the wood with normal muggle tape.

E 33°48
O 26°11
That was all they got. The rest was up to them and their champion who was meant to buy them as much time as possible. With Dan being the oldest of the champions, he had a fair chance of actually buying them a lot of time, but there was another catch. The team only had four people to work on the room, leaving them with one less than the other teams. But who knew what would happen?
Welcome to the third Dormbattle!
This is the escape room tatsu assigned you, so any complaints to tatsu please XD
The rounds go the same as the battle of champions rounds, so 120 hours to post. And yes, this will be baby steps, means you make a guess, an action, whatever and it may either be wrong or right.
I have to see how I go on about hints, I'm gonna decide that spontanuously and depending on the situation.
Have fun!

It took a moment for Wyatt to begin picking up clues. Being in an escape room with someone who he was indifferent-to-negatively-acquainted with and two complete strangers was a bit disorienting and took a bit of adjusting. He had a very strong feeling that when the group was choosing their champion, they’d be taken out of the team. It was simply how things went at Hogwarts. The ole’ one-two of choosing a hero for them to be first to leave.

So, what did that make this cuartet? An arsonist, an emo, some rando, and a skeleton? It was then Wyatt remembered, and mentally kicked himself for his wandering mind that allowed him to gloss over such a thing for so long. Rainwood set a first year on fire last year. Which may not be so bad, now. Perhaps it wasn’t the best option, long-term, to set the door aflame and just walk through once the wood had burned enough. That would cost the group a bit in damages, not to mention their lives if the flames were to spread in anything but their favor.

Adjusted at last. He was already weighing the pros and cons of certain options, which was a very good sign. Walking up to the door they just walked through, Wyatt spotted a slip of paper taped (muggle?) to the door. The note read, “The Lost Ship of Words and Numbers,” and wondered what he had missed. Since when were they talking of ships? What had this study room to do with the ocean? Was that simply a metaphor for their hopelessness?

No, it couldn’t have been, simply because they were not hopeless. Indeed, Wyatt was getting a strange feeling that something was off in the quiet study room he so adored since the start of his time at Hogwarts. The bookshelf held books that were labeled, starting at A and ending with Z. Apparently, though, Opeila wanted to make it to 30, and so roman numerals 27, 28, 29, and 30 finished off the cue. After tracing his finger along the side of the shelf carrying a fair amount of books, he lifted in and flicked off the collected dust with his thumb.

On the side of the shelf, he spotted what seemed to be coordinates, but he could only imagine the O at the end standing for “origin,” and though he admittedly knew nothing about cartography, he didn’t think origin was a markable point on a map. Those notes were also taped to the side of the bookshelf, muggle technology.

Suddenly, something clicked. Perhaps it wasn't coordinates Opeila had left for them. That would certainly be confusing, considering the absence of a map in the room. Chewing the inside of his cheek, Wyatt eyed the side of the bookshelf before grabbing the book labeled “N,” turning to page 49, and counting to the 38th word. “I think the erm,” he started, as he counted words in the page, pointing at each letter as he passed to make sure it was counted. “The coordinates are like… page and word numbers. So “N” would be book N, 49 degrees would be page 49… no?”

Round 1
Maybe this was something Opeila should have expected before, considering that she had sent the teams away on their own, not giving them the slightest explanation as to what they might find. Something she should have thought of, perhaps even giving the teams a small note would have been considerate, but the third year had not thought that far. So now the teams had entered their rooms and it was the same in almost all of them.

Very few had started to explore, most didn't seem quite sure where to start, but the worst it was in the Lost Ship room, where a total of one person had begun to move.
But hey, that didn't have to mean much, did it? Besides, that person, Wyatt, very quickly seemed to get behind the real meaning of what appeared to be coordinates. It was a rather fitting hint considering the Lost Ship name, but it could hardly be real coordinates.

Wyatt was right. As he went through the labeled books and looked for the pages, he would find words being circled. In the first book, this word would be 'the', the second 'shelf' and the third 'on'. Perhaps the first success would wake up his teammates and give them some ideas too?
