"Alright, Irene. Remember, we are only here for the things on the shopping list and that is it. " Reena nodded absent-mindedly, scanning the parchment in front of her. It was spring break, a few days after they got home. They were having a spring break get-together at their house (Reena was going to see her besties!) Her best friends and their families were invited. Their families were all close, so it was about time they caught up. But before they could even start cooking, they needed to deal with some plants that had snuck in. As well as garden gnomes! They were back again! They had picked up the food they would need and now they were headed to Dogweed & Deathcap for their gloves and other supplies they might need. "We don't have time for detours, we need to get home and get to work as soon as possible." Reena nodded, handing the list back to her mom. "I know! I really can't wait to see Kelly and Lena again!!!" But she was pretty sure why her mom was telling her this. The last time they came, Reena had gotten sidetracked with cats and begged to get one. Last time her mother had said that Reena didn't have enough money to do so. But she did this time. She put together her birthday money as well as savings to afford one. What her mother didn't know was that those galleons were in Reena's pockets right now.

She grabbed her mom's elbow and steered her to Dogweed & Deathcap, smiling to herself. "Mom, I really would hate to be in the way." She started, swinging her arms back n' forth as the took a long step back. She folded her pressed her hands together in front of her as she tilted her head. "I really would. I knowwww I'll just slow things down. And we're trying to hurry. So." She took another long step back. Her heart was beating. It was now or never. Her mother looked up at her daughter, lifting an eyebrow. "You're fine. You won't be in the w-" Reena waved her hands. "Oh no but I would. I would think everything is cooool and just follow you around." Her mother squinted her eyes, growing suspicious. "Where is this going?" Reena raised her eyebrows with a smile. "Glad you asked! I'm just going to check out the quidditch stuff or something while you're shopping. K? Bye!" She dashed out, not giving her mom a chance to say no.

Instead of heading to the quidditch shop, she headed to the pet store and burst through the door. The pet store was the one place her mother did not want her to be, yet here she was. Her birthday was not far (May 22!), which meant this could be an early birthday gift. She ran right over to the cats, almost dying of cuteness. One, however, caught her eye. "What's her name?" She asked the shop keeper. The cat didn't have a name. "It's a he, actually. " She smiled. "Oh! He's beautiful! I love his mark-" The door opened and her mother walked in. "I knew you would be here." Reena handed the cat to the shop owner guiltily. "I was just loo-" Her mother raised an eyebrow. "I thought you said you were going to look at quidditch stuff." Reena smiled shyly. "I said 'or something'"

Her mother shook her head. Then she began to laugh. Not yell, laugh. "I was going to get you your cat anyway, this was your birthday present. Is this the one you want?" Reena wasn't sure she heard right.

"REALLY?!?!?! YES THANK YOU!" She jumped up and down, scooping the cat from the shop owner and cuddling it. "I'm going to name him Pusheen!" She couldn't contain her smile, her excitement was bubbling all over. The cat was SO tinyyyy! She seriously felt like she was going to die.
