Covering Scars like Emotions
A wound that without the proper care and magical prowess then, healed into a slightly grotesque mark that tainted her perfect skin. The mark on the neck served as a permanent reminder of what happened that night. It used to bother her how the disfigured patch of skin compelled the attention of others, how their eyes would fall onto her neck and a question would ultimately arise. Now, she couldn't care less, but it remains in a teenage girl's interest to want to look pretty. And big flaws like these just did not cut it. Besides, she wanted the attention drawn to her face and not constantly on her ugly neck.
Moving her hair across her shoulder, she tilted her chin to reveal her neck. The scar stared back at her in the mirror, two indents of eyes - what was left of the puncture of fangs, and shallow bumpy ridges of skin from the bite of a lower jaw was akin to a smile. It was grotesque thinking about it that way. Sometimes when she was in just the right headspace, it talked to her, but not today. "You've been quiet lately," Words said in a whispered mutter under her breath. Heaving a sigh, Aurelia would squeeze the beige liquid from the tube onto a dense beauty brush, swiping it with ease across her neck. Like the same ritual performed repeatedly for days over years, the scar blended into the skin within seconds
"Has anyone told you it's rude to stare?" From the mirror reflection, her gaze would fall still on the only other girl in the lavatory. Aurelia knew they couldn't help it.

Covering Scars like Emotions
@Aurelia Notrésvace
In approximately one hour, Bloom had History of Magic. She knew what to expect when she went to that class. She knew what she had to do. She needed to ignore him, although she knew that was going to be impossible. She wanted him just as bad as she was angry with him. It was moments like these that being a teenager sucked.
Bloom was finished doing her business in the stall of the girl's lavatory. She flushed the toilet and opened the stall door. It seemed that she was not alone in the bathroom. She could not help but stare at the girl who was in the bathroom with her. It was none other than Aurelia Notrésvace. She was a Gryffindor girl who was the same year as Bloom. In all her years at Hogwarts, she never really crossed paths with the girl. She knew nothing about her really.
Bloom walked up to the sink and began to wash her hands by turning on the water. As she was scrubbing her hands with soap, she could not help but to look over at the girl some more and see what she was doing. Her neck... it looked beaten up. If Bloom was being honest, it looked nasty. She wondered where she got such a wound.
Caught. Bloom was perhaps staring for too long that she was caught by Aurelia who barked at her about staring. Whoops, Bloom thought and she looked back at herself for a second, but she couldn't help but to look back at Aurelia's injury.
"I bet Professor Brumby can heal that in an instant," she said, wondering why the girl wasn't getting it healed and instead letting it stay, ugly, on her neck. "How'd you get it anyways?" Bloom asked, but then realized that maybe she did not want to know the answer. Did she? She had quite a bit of curiosity on her shoulders.

Aurelia would shift to face the girl, instead of through the mirrored reflection. Recognition of a classmate and ballgoer, Bloom Silverton. The statement was not one she took lightly to. It was ridiculous. To see someone's flaws and imply they'd be better off removed entirely was honestly quite distasteful. "Simply because you don't like the sight of it?" First impressions mattered, and Bloom wasn't looking great in picture. Scars came with a story, memories and lessons to learn from them, but this pretty Ravenclaw would only see it as a defect to be erased with a wave of a wand.
"Should I grow a little taller then? Slim a few pounds down maybe?" Although her tone of voice carried an air of nonchalance, it was her words that bit back harshly. Aurelia certainly wasn't making it easy for the girl. Like most teenagers, Aurelia once carried some insecurity and self-consciousness, hidden under a veil of a cold facade. That was when her body was growing into that of a woman, with curves eventually finding their place. Yet her height stilled at a short 5'3 (158cm). It took a while to accept her own figure, scars and other flaws. This Ravenclaw wasn't about to destroy that.
That same question arose, the one she had been asked again and again. Most likely given that she had danced with the dhampir, Bloom would not like the answer to her own question, but first a question of her own to sprinkle some flavour on. An answer would come with some patience, she would get what she asked for, soon. Another game she decided to play, setting her pieces first.
"Are not you Howard's new girlfriend? I saw you two at the ball." Seemingly appearing to avoid the question, she'd ask. Was she to analyse the girl? Sure. The same game she had played with Falentra, she would play with Bloom. "Who can avoid a face like his, am I right? Although I liked him better when he was human." Clearing implying she knew Howard back when he was still human. "Are you two close? I doubt he'd told you about me... why would he?"
"Bloom dear, I'm not interested in Howard. I'm not a competition you should be worried about." Regardless of her enigmatic intentions with the contrast of insinuations, she'd reassure the girl.

Covering Scars like Emotions
@Aurelia Notrésvace
Bloom had no idea who Aurelia really was, but she could instantly tell that she struck a nerve in the Gryffindor. Shrugging, Bloom looked back at her wound. "It was only a suggestion," she said, not getting into the girl's bait. The sight of it was grotesque. It was more than that. And the fact that she had not gone to the Hospital Wing to take care of it was bizarre to the Ravenclaw.
"If that's what you want to do," she said, not caring and taking in the bait of rhetorical questions. She was not going to be belittled by a classmate because she suggested to have a wound be looked at by a professional. Whatever she was doing to it, it did not look like it was helping the wound heal, but rather keeping it in its grotesque state.
And there it was. It seems that rumors were flying around the school since the Midspring Celebration event about Bloom and Howard. Yes, they danced during the ball, but that was it. Bloom did not want to relive that night when she realized that she meant nothing to the Hufflepuff boy. Her eyebrows crossed for a split second, but she relaxed her face and went to dry her hands with paper towels.
"It's not about what someone is, it's about who they are," she said, sticking up for Howard. How could she be so villainous about his race? Sure, he wasn't human, but he was still a being that had feelings. Bloom just wished those feelings were for her. "You've never been mentioned by anyone, Aurelia. Now I can guess why," she said, giving the fifth year a small smirk. It was a bit of a slap in the face, but she walked right into it.
Her curiosity got the best of her. Bloom never knew him when he was human. At least she did not know him as well as this past year. But Aurelia must have. What was he like before turning into a creature of the night? Was he just as angry? Was he happy?
"I'm not worried, Aurelia," she said, knowing that he was interested in Falentra anyways. "Why would he mention you to begin with?" The fish caught the hook.

This girl just failed to understand. Then again, with how nearly perfect her features were and the lack of flaws, why would she? "Hm. I'm sure it was just a suggestion," A short hum of acknowledgement. Albeit a subconscious one, the underline motive for such a suggestion certainly posed more depth than what Bloom herself was aware of. "And yet you keep staring. It's rude to stare." In a sigh, she noted simply when the Ravenclaw's eyes fell on her neck despite the scar now covered up mostly by the vigorous application of makeup and having so recently reminded her about it.
"No. That's what you want me to do - which I won't." She saw it fit for some habitual gaslighting.
A scoff she let out as Bloom threw a jab her way, none Aurelia would let. "And why is that, exactly?" Self-aware she was enough to know about her own presence (terrible presence) she reeked. That cold, unsettling aura that never failed to harass anyone in the near vicinity. Even if all she did was breathe, she instilled discomfort around those around her and it was in the ingrained nature and self-preservation of humans to avoid discomfort. She didn't have many friends.
"You haven't been keeping up with the Headliner then?" She'd been mentioned on some of their pages, even if it was during the whole dhampir fiasco last year. Regardless, Bloom would get what she asked: How her scar came to be. Now, set with that perfect opening, very bluntly Aurelia answered, "Because he bit me, Bloom. The scar is unequivocal proof of that. I was Howard's first feed as a dhampir, which nearly killed me in his bloodlust." Those words were enough to clarify what she meant and not the conclusions which the girl had jumped to, just like many others. "As I said, I liked him better when he was human."
"I know what and who Howard White is. But do you? That side of him?" Aurelia asked. What was Bloom's relationship to the Dhampir, Aurelia wondered?

Covering Scars like Emotions
@Aurelia Notrésvace
Bloom had no idea where this girl was going. Sure, the wound on her neck was grotesque. It wasn't normal for someone to want something as gross to stay on them. Bloom figured the girl had a lot of personal and mental problems.
It seemed that her statement of not knowing much about her could have strung the Gryffindor. No one wants to be talked about and be in rumors, however, no one wants to be invisible either. Being invisible to those around you would be the worst.
It was true. Bloom hadn't kept up with Hogwarts' school gossip, the Hogwarts Headliner. She focused primarily on real-world news such as The Daily Prophet. Hearing about S.C.A.R.A.B. and their rallies... It was a lot more realistic and provided personal growth rather than reading about a professor's favorite color. Bloom stayed quiet. She did not have to answer her. She began to look herself in the mirror and fixed her hair. It wasn't until she heard Aurelia mention that the fresh wound on her neck was from Howard.
She looked back at what was now considered a bite on her neck and back to Aurelia's eyes. The way she worded it made it seem like he had a choice to skip her or make her a meal. She remembered having a conversation with Howard about his beginning Dhampir days. He had no choice. The bite was perhaps a cause of having no choice.
"He's not the same anymore," she said, standing up for Howard, no matter how pissed at him she may be. "I know him well enough, thank you," she said, letting her straight, chocolate brown hair down, and lifting half of her hair up into a ponytail.
She hadn't really seen the side of him that everyone is talking about, but she knew that people changed for the better and always wanted to better themselves. She trusted Howard was that kind of person and did not need to dwindle on the negative when he was working so hard to be in the positive.
"Are you done talking shit about him?" she rhetorically asked, her eyebrows perked up, indirectly telling her to shut up. She knew Howard and was, very slowly, falling for him. If he bit her when he just turned, then it was not his fault. He couldn't control it, she thought more and more to herself.

As she would expect, Bloom, like many before her was so quick to disregard her own feelings and perspective on the matter, instead chivalrously defending the perpetrator himself. It was never just. Now, her lips finally twisting into a disappointed scowl, the way Bloom talked, her tone was not one Aurelia appreciated. Stifling her frustration, calmly she replied, "Bloom darling, you stand here tall and almighty invalidating my own feelings and experience with the crappy reason that 'he's not the same anymore' - of course, I've known him since our first-year."
"You exhibit the same ignorance and insensibility that I've encountered so, so many times. It's rather concerning. You've never experienced the awful trauma of being painfully drained of blood. Regardless if it had been in his deliberate intentions or not, it still happened. A reason simply being 'an accident' is no excuse for assault. What would you know? What would you do if you were me?" Patiently reminding the Ravenclaw how she sounded, yet her aggravation was slowly bleeding into her words. All these years, aside from the rare, golden few, there were shockingly little who truly cared about her wellbeing, perhaps that's where her alleged personal and mental problems stemmed from. The trauma she held for years, stifled in fear of her feelings being disregarded constantly and that she'd be blamed for questionable rumours of blood baiting.
"I'm not talking shit. I'm talking truth." She explained, heaving a sigh. With her tone lightening, she arose a point, "Are you in love with him? Strong feelings can often make one blind to faults - To the red warning signs. But from what I'm hearing, he's nice to you. You defend him and that's rather enviable." She admitted.

Covering Scars like Emotions

@Aurelia Notrésvace
She just listened. That was all Bloom can do with someone like Aurelia who wanted to share their feelings about someone and make them seem monstrous. It was like a fake article about someone coming to life, in-person, where they would say all that they wanted to say with no proof. In Aurelia's case, her proof was the grotesque bite that was on her neck. Why she did not have it cleaned up was questioning. Perhaps Aurelia was the type of person to flash people her trophies and hardships for others to take in and do something about-- whether it was to care for her or become allies during debates and battles. Who knew?
The question that came up made her heart stop, however. Aurelia asked Bloom if she was in love with Howard. Bloom wanted to say yes as quickly as possible, but right now, she was pissed at the guy. Her heart was shattering little by little and she knew that it was only going to disappear as the days progress. But that was it... she was in love with him. Did that change everything about how she saw about him?
"He's nice to anyone who deserves it," Bloom responded back to the Gryffindor. "It looks to me you didn't deserve it," she said, looking back at her neck that Aurelia was tending towards. "Love, whether from me or someone else, has nothing to do with his kindness," Bloom added, thinking about the question a little more. Yes, love could be blind, but it also allows you to see all parts of someone which is why she fell in love with him.

Her question on whether she was in love went without an answer. Although her words, continuing to defend the dhampir despite what she had told her so far would insinuate otherwise. The girl's next response was uncalled for, Aurelia didn't deserve kindness. It was a ludicrous claim she should know well, yet the bite of emotions came with it. Words could be as sharp as knives at times. Given that the Gryffindor was not an emotional person at all, Bloom's next words stung more than she expected. The affliction featured over her face, a frown in the mirrored reflection. "That was... brutal." She admitted in all honesty. Bloom Silverton, a mean girl was something she did not expect. But love made you do things sometimes.
Whatever Aurelia divulged only seemed to fall on deaf ears. Bloom was in love, she concluded. "And what happens if he hurts you? Would you continue to be ignorant?" She asked. Even after the incident, Aurelia maintained quite a good relationship with Howard, it was a bond built upon trauma, only recently severed. She continued to be ignorant, and look where that got her. Now trying to educate this Ravenclaw on what she was trying to dive head first into was all but futile. And here she thought Ravenclaws had more brains.

@Aurelia Notrésvace
Bloom only realized how cruel her words were when Aurelia had mentioned that it was brutal. She did not mean to be so rude to the Gryffindor, but she could not help but to defend Howard. Who was she to put him down? He was already having a difficult time growing into his own and here was someone so quick to put him down. The bite on Aurelia's neck could have been healed and she could have moved on. Instead, she paraded his mistake.
Her chocolate brown eyes were staring at the sixth year in the mirror. She looked at her with a 'what the hell' reaction towards her question of Howard hurting her. How could that even be? They were close of friends and he was so kind... caring...
"What are you trying to say?" she asked, her eyebrows perked up.
"He won't ever hurt me," Bloom responded. She ignored her second question as she did not want to continuously say things that might hurt Aurelia. Bloom had wit and can have a mouth on her when prodded. Bloom was not a fan of Aurelia at the moment with all of her prodding and negative statements about Howard. She found it wrong and uncalled for.
