----Today was a day of recess for the young Ashwood. Weekends usually were that for people, right? At least she thought so.

The Grounds were perfect for her time of recess.

"Hm, what do you think my running time will be, Ashes?" The young girl was speaking, but not to a person. It was a doll, laying haphazardly on the ground near a pathway. It made no sound, nor does it do anything impressive.

"Hm, that seems rather short. You really think I can do it?" She made a smile, stretching her legs on the ground where she was. She wore shorts, and a sport shirt. Her hair was even tied up into a bun.

Ever since joining a sports team, Vale hoped to keep her body in shape, even if she only did broom racing.

"Well, if you think so! I should write to mama about my speed time if I do it." The young girl clapped her hands together, a habit she seemed to pick up from somewhere, and have been doing for a long while since she came to Hogwarts.

"Wait. You mean I should do it with someone? But I don't know who would..." Last time Vale ran with someone, they refused to participate any further. The poor girl had no idea why. She thought the jogging she would do is effective and most certainly a wonderful practice. Her father did it all the time with her even when she was finally able to run on her own without getting tired out so easily.

But if there was one thing Vale knew, she was going to find a way to make sure to keep her new partner when she finds one.

Seren's mother had been making some SNIDE comments at her, the last time she had received a rare (but as always nasty) letter from the woman about her 'getting fat.' Now, anyone not Seren or her horrendous parents would absolutely have been aghast to think that the actually underweight young lady was fat, but Seren was... Really not aware of this problem. She was worried about it, but she did not want to have to stop enjoying the ever so bountiful food she got here at school, so she decided to try exercise.

That said, she had no idea HOW to exercise, but she did know how to run, so maybe that counted? Either way, she had decided to try running out and see if it helped. She had managed to write to her paternal grandparents, and got them to send her some good clothes for running in. She couldn't ask her PARENTS, after all...

And so, today, she was out on the grounds, wearing simple and easy to move in clothing. She noticed another girl, one she did not (surprise, surprise) know. She gave the other girl a shy smile and wave, and began to do some stretches, because her grandparents had also included books on how to run without getting hurt.

----It was like something decided that Vale deserved to have a new victim friend to play with. It was another chance for Vale to find a excerise buddy, or so she believed. She turned bouncy at the side of the new person, waving in her direction out of some sort of kind gesture.

"Ashes, new friend!" The young girl would whisper-shout to the small doll that laid gently on the ground, a stitched smile on its body. (Un)luckily, Vale wasn't shy when it came to interactions. A trait she would have been gifted by her father, and have honed naturally in due respect to all the guests her parents used to have over during dark hours.

Vale's small legs would eagerly rush over to the friendly stranger, ready to bother her with all of her wonderful Vale-ness.

"How terrible it is to meet you! Vale Ashwood 'tis I! May your enemies be poisoned with no evidence to be traced back to you." Vale boasted a large smile, not quelled by her own words with vicious meaning behind them.

"Are you training too? Excuse my vicious eagerness, but may I ask a fellow student to participate in a friendly jog with me? It would be just a lap around the grounds is all. A bad way to warm up the bones! I believe I see you in the halls every now and again, prehaps?" Vale nodded, mostly to herself. A simple lap would be enough for Vale to have just a taste of the typical adrenaline she would have during her broom racing matches.

It didn't beat being on a broom, mind you. But it was enough to have little Vale sleep with a smile on her face for just a forenight.

"It would be quite vile to have a excerise buddy at my side! My last one, you see, lost the motivation. A shame really." Vale tilted her head, staring at the fellow student with her signature, amber eyes. Vale took joy in what a awful day it was. The grounds were just in the horrific conditions for running. Though, in actual fairness, it was always a terrible day to run for the young girl. Rain, sun, hurricane, tornado... Ah, an awful day indeed! It'd just get even more terrible with partner by her side, Vale was sure of it!
