Mina walks along the lake shore, looking at the water, watching the water lap at her feet. She looks across the lake and watches the ripples on the water. She kicks her foot through the water and stuffs her hands into the pockets of her jacket.

Mina had put on her jacket over her robes, if up could even call them robes. This specific one fit close to her body and was more like a dress than a robe. She had put her boots on and pulled her hair up into a ponytail. She was proud of managing the outfit and showing it off.

She kicks at the water again, smiling at she splash it made and she kept kicking at the water, the force of her kicking increasing and the size of her splashes along with is.

She looks around, still kicking and notices a boy nearby, getting splashed every now and then by the water, but she doesn’t stop, thinking if the boy didn’t like it, he could move.

She was thinking about her encounter with Mei, who had snuck up and shouted in her ear, making Mina’s headache, that much worse and Mina in turn had railed at the girl, a first at Hogwarts. If you’re nice to her, she’ll be nice, of you’re mean to her, she’ll be a pain in your ass. She snickers slightly and keeps kicking, not giving a care to what was going on around her.

She wasn’t an oblivious person, but she just never cared what people thought about her and what they did as long as it didn’t impact her life. She mostly left people alone, unless it was like that girl from the other day who had needed rescuing from that spider, Mina was glad to intervene and was happy with the outcome. Even if the girl was Ravenclaw. Now that she thought about it. So far, most of her Hogwarts friends were Ravenclaw, she didn’t feel like she fit in with the other Gryffindor members, but that was her house and she’d stick with it.

Dexter was sitting with his feet in the water as he noticed a girl that kept splashing in the water making the water go as far as his shins. He shot her a look that said, “Are you serious?”

He got up and move farther away from the girl as he found her splashing annoyingly. He kept looking over his shoulder to make sure a girl he heard people call Mei wasn’t nearby.

In the past, she had pushed Dexter into the lake and tried to chase him out of the castle. Dexter liked to think of her as a coward because she did this when his back was turned and he didn't know she was there.

She had seen her bullying a pack of girls whose clothing she didn't like. He thought that they should be able to choose whatever cuz they want because it's their life, not hers and she should mind her business

He looked at the girl who had kept splashing in the water making sure that she wasn't scooting anymore close. He had found her splashing annoyingly because he like to enjoy the peace at the lake. He didn't like peace-disturbers that disturbed his peace.

Mina notes that the boy moved farther away and ignores him for a moment and keeps kicking the water. After a few minutes She gets up and walks in the water, the small waves lapping against her ankles and she kicks the water as she walks and walks right past the boy getting water on him and she keeps walking, not really noticing that she kicked water at him, getting him soaked. She just keeps walking, humming softly to herself.

She pulls her hands out of her pockets and runs her hand through her hair and lets it fall over her shoulder. She keeps kicking the water, walking along the shore. She presses her lips together and looks over her shoulder and her gaze jumps right over the boy, giving him a cursory glance, but nothing more.

She shakes her wrist and runs her finger over the bracelet she was wearing and her finger over the cross she was wearing around her neck. She closes her eyes, her pace slowing to a stop. She thought of her mother and what she had said when she handed this to her when she was five, ”Your father loved this necklace with all his heart, now you take care of it.” She had only taken it off once since then and she’d lost it. She never wanted to lose it agian.

Dexter noticed the girl had got in the water. “Oh god…” he muttered to himself. She was kicking and splashing. He decided to try and let it go.

He thought some more about things. But just then, his thoughts were interrupted as he heard her splashing louder. She was also getting nearer. Please don’t come near me, Dexter thought. He slowly moved away, but she was getting closer and faster.

WHY IS SHE LIKE THIS! Dexter thought. She seemed like one of that battery wind-up toys that don’t stop unless their stopped or their battery dies. Does her battery die? Dexter thought. Seemed as though she never stopped… doing things.

He finally stopped moving away, unlike the girl. He glared at her hoping she’d see him, but it didn’t seem like she did. She was still getting close, showing no sign of slowing down. He hoped her glasses fell off so she couldn’t see for a moment, giving him a chance to leave.

They didn’t. He put his hands up to his face and thought about Mei. A cold feeling captured him when he did, almost like he had been splashed with a huge amount of water from a girl that won’t stop splashing and kicking the water.

He glared directly at the girl. “Can you stop? Can you just sit down and do nothing for a single second? Can you?” He yelled at her.

Mina froze and spun, her gaze snapping to the boy and she crosses her arm and then she notices how wet he was and she covers her mouth, “I am. . . So sorry.” She says, walking closer, managing to not splash so much, “Are you alright?” She asks, trying not to just splash even more water on the boy.

She hadn’t even realized she was splashing so much, and the boy, she knew she was getting water on him, but it wasn’t like she’d stopped when she had noticed. She had just wanted to splash and watch the ripples in the water. She keeps her fingers on the cross around her neck and watches his reaction, though she did make a few more splashes walking towards him, she hoped it wasn’t enough to make him loose his temper.

She watches him, unsure how to proceed in this, she wasn’t used to making someone else upset unless it was on purpose, well she was, but not when they yelled at her right away, usually, they just got fed up with her and walked away. But this boy was different, he had actually yelled at her. Her the girl who never put up with anything she didn’t want to. And she was somewhat thrilled at having someone yell at her. Okay, that sounded weird, but the prospect that this encounter was thrown in her face, once she didn’t set up herself.

Dexter glared at her. She was still sending waves at him! When would she get it? Dexter knew she needed to learn social cues. He then got up and left. As he went through the corridors he wondered if he should have just got up and left like that. After all, she did say sorry and ask if he was alright. He should have responded.

He climbed into his common room through the portrait and sat in a chair near the fire. He grabbed a book and looked at the cover, Hogwarts, A History. He felt as if the day would never end. Just then, his friend, Frank came in. They chatted for a while, until dinner. They traveled to the great hall.

He sat there and waited for the rest of his friends. He thought about what he had done to the girl. About how he yelled at her. And glared and ran. And moved away from her. He regretted all of these already and wish he hadn't done it. But after all, she was annoyed. He was pretty sure anyone would get annoyed if someone had been splashing in the water and soaking you with water when trying to enjoy your freedom and peace.

Mina watches the boy leave and she tilts her head, she wasn’t one to just drop something, she’d noticed that he was a fellow Gryffindor, and remembered him from the sorting ceremony. He was a first year. She’d probably see him later at dinner or something. She decided to walk back to the dorm and get out of her wet clothes.

After changing she sat on her bed for a moment, wearing the school robes with a Gryffindor patch over her right breast. She thought about the look on his face and then got up and walked to the dinning hall, what she wanted was some food and a book and she’d be set. Calm again.

She looked around and then sat down at a random place ate and leaned back in her chair, looking around for the boy and planning, if she didn’t find him, to go back to the lake. The lake was a nice place to sit and just relax and watch the water on the shore. The sand between her fingers. It made her think of her father, who, her mother said, loved the beach and would go all the time. She sighs softly and picks up her fork again and stabs at some meat.

Dexter was eating his food but stopped after a moment. He spoke to his friends about the girl that had got him wet. “
Wow, that would piss me off,” one of them said. He rolled his eyes.
“No kidding, you’d be drenched while trying to have a peaceful day at the lake.” He poked at his steak, but still didn’t eat it.
“On top of that, while I was trying to have peace, she was kicking the water, it went as high as the top of my shins.”

His friends nodded. “Did she say sorry? Like, did she apologize?”
“When she noticed, but not immediately. First she put her hands on her hips. Then she saw me and tried to apologize, but I left.” He took a drink of cherry soda. “There she is,” He announced, pointing over at the same girl that they were talking about and the same girl that soaked him. “
Oh, that’s Mina Starr,” his friend said. Dexter looked back at him, as he wasn’t paying attention. “Who?”
His friend looked at him impatiently. “Mi-na Starr. She’s was in one of my classes.”
He nodded. He took another drink of cherry soda. He wasn’t a big fan of the pumpkin juice. He then looked back at her.

Mina stays quiet, wishing she had grabbed her book, Samantha wasn’t anywhere to be found and she had decided to sit alone. She feels someone looking at her and looks over her shoulder at the boy. Her brown eyes flick from his face to his friend then back again. She’d seen his friend mouth shape the familiar words of her own name and she knew she was being talked about.

She frown softly at Dexter and then turns around, picking up her glass and taking a drink. Water, she wasn’t in the mood for anything else. She picks at her food, not really hungry. She stares at the steak on her plate and brushes her hair from her face, closing her eyes. She honestly never knew what she did wrong, was she just a clueless nobody? That’s what the people back home said.

She sighs and opens her eyes, still staring at her plate, her hand frozen around her glass and the memory comes out of no where, ”Sweetheart, you aren’t a clueless nobody, not matter what Faith says, you are just always dreaming. She looks up at her father, “But, papa, I’m still clueless to what’s around me, I’m not paying any attention to my surroundings.” Her father shakes his head, “Sweetheart, someday, when you are older those dreams will become ideas, stories, while the simple minded will be stuck, bound by their own lack of imagination.”

As the memory fades she shakes her head slightly, she didn’t think the boy was simple minded, but she knew what her mind was telling her, stay strong and positive. In plus, it wasn’t like she was clueless now, she knew the boy had been sitting there, she just hadn’t cared.

Dexter and his friends continued his talking. “Why splashing when you can just relax? Common sense.” One said, “Maybe she was happy or something, or didn’t see you. The possibilities are endless.” His other friend said, “Or maybe she was just acting like a baby.” Dexter saw her looking at them, and he stopped talking feeling guilty all over again. He grabbed a sandwich, looked at it, and placed it back down. He looked at her and thought. He did walk away without responding to the apology she gave. She also tried to see if he was alright.

His friends talked more and more, mostly about her. He looked over at her once again. He felt sorry for her since he had stormed away from her. He tried to convince himself that he didn’t do anything wrong, but he knew he did.

He went over to the girl to make amends. “Heyyyy…” He scratched the back of his head. “Listen, I’m really sorry for what happened back at the lake, I could’ve acted more responsible and mature.

“I guess I was sort of in a mood, and I’m sorry for that, but I’d like to get to know you better.”
