Dear Ciarán!
I'm sorry I haven't written yet, but, well, everything kind of happened at once and there's so much to tell you! Well, first, as you remember, London was about what we expected. Dirty, crowded, ugly, too many people, too much noise. And that was muggle London! I'd never guessed there could be so many motorcars in one place, did you? And what about those huge busses with two storeys in them? Didn't they look like sardine tins and the people are so crowded inside they look like sardines!
Magical London was nice, though, right. Ma kept us on short reins, though --- didn't let us explore much. That sucked! There were so many interesting things to look at and places to visit! Maybe next time we can have a proper look at the place!
I wish you could have come on the train with us! There were so many students. Some real creepy blokes --- Slytherins, of course (more on that later!) But most seemed nice enough. We got on with some older boys. This one, @Henry Knight, seemed pretty cool. He's a third year! And he can duel. He's Slytherin, but he's really cool. We also met another first year, @Ari Gwild. He's really smart. He knows a lot about muggle bands and music! I hope we become friends. We talked about what houses we'd like to be sorted into. Ari, I was sure, would be Ravenclaw, and I was right! Of course, Liam and I said RAVENCLAW!
About that.
When the professor called my name, I was so excited! But then that dratted Hat started going on about my ambitions and drives. What was that all about‽ And then I got a real shocker: that Hat said SLYTHERIN!
Ciarán, I just sat there. Some students started laughing. Someone said "get off the stool already, stupid, and get over here!" Would have to be a Slytheirn who said that. As I sat down at the table I heard Liam's name being called, and I really hoped he'd be called to Slytherin as well.
I know what you'll say: don't be selfish and wish your own misery on someone else! But, come on Ci! Slytherin?
Anyway, you know Liam got Ravenclaw! I'm so proud of him! I just wonder what I did wrong. I'll have to write more later. There's already an owl ready and waiting to take my letter to you! Pretty feisty bird, too! Gentle, though. He just brushes my hand with his talons to remind me he's waiting.
