when the cat's away, the spiders will play

As classes ended for the day, Everly had headed up to the dormitories in pursuit of her cat, Tzahala. With summer rapidly approaching, the weather outside had been rising quickly, and Everly had decided it would be nice to study outside, accompanied by her cat. When they did this, usually, Everly would find a nice little shady tree to camp under, while Tzahala would wander around close by. Sometimes, she'd do so with a friend, even if they often didn't manage to get anything done. If not outside, then the library, where Everly had begun to frequent less and less, opting for the sunniness outside instead. The library was preferable when she wanted to curl up with a new book or study under the dim candle-lit lights in the evenings, but while the sun was out and it was bright, Everly would head towards the grounds instead. There were no fewer people, either; many had decided the same as Everly.
After securing the cat, Everly scooped Tzahala up in her arms, tucked in the crook of her arm, the other with a bag slung around, containing the multitude of textbooks and papers. They made their way down the stairs, after which Everly dropped the cat down gently, who began to prowl ahead. The cat already knew of her plans, as they'd started on a familiar route, and Everly kept the cat within line of her sight, no matter how far she decided to go. Even though she'd accidentally dropped a book, she quickly caught up again after retrieving it. However, the bengal was no longer in sight.
Everly found Tzahala down a new corridor, who'd found a mouse to entertain herself with. She sighed. "Tzahala, you've got to stop doing this," she said, tsking at the cat, attempting to scoop her up again. Tzahala managed to dodge her efforts, hissing at her, or maybe the mouse.

| ─── | Draven hadn't seen Deimos since the morning. Which wasn't a particularly unusual occurrence. The spider hated History as much as anyone, but he didn't have to sit down and suffer through it. Draven had grown used to his friend disappearing during classes and reappearing just in time for lunch. He'd swing down from one of the high columns and try to surprise Dray, or crawl in his pocket and only come out when he smelled freshly baked bread and meat pies. But Deimos was nowhere in sight today, and given all the owls roaming about the school, Dray was growing a little more concerned with each second that passed. He'd bought the spider out of spite at first, but he'd grown fond of him. Fond enough to chip a staircase into his bed, so Deimos could have a safer trip upwards onto the rafters. And now the little dude was missing. Draven was scouting the corners of each hallway he passed through, eyes turned upwards to the high domed ceilings, hoping to spot his friend's familiar furry legs. But there was no Deimos to spot. At least, not for a while. Draven rounded the corner, to find a girl standing with a cat in her arms. And Deimos waiting behind her with a murderous look in his many eyes, stalking her cat. Draven yelped, trying to step before the girl before Deimos had a chance to pounce. Reducio He succeeded. Just barely. Catching Deimos in his arms before he could hurt the girl or the cat.
