April 12th, 2022 evening time.
The Dying Room
How lovely, the Ashwoods aren't interested in letting children starve. That is one of the many decent outlooks one could have on such a family like them.

The large table was filled with various sweets and delicious food that a child could happily partake in. They were all Swahili based, such as Ndizi na nyama (meat and banana stew) and Nyama choma (charred meat). Rice took over a majority of the dishes found at the table. Whatever they are, it can be noted that Adana took the time to ensure the children had a delightful range to eat.

The entire Ashwood family could be spotted at the table, with Adana and Vale moving to set up the rest of the table with delicious delights. It was cheerful despite the eerie atmosphere that took most of the mansion.

"Papa, tell us about the time you barely escaped with your life against a terrifying creature!" Vale chirped, making sure the rest of the large table was in proper condition for all her friends. Vale looked up eagerly, barely noticing her older brother rolling his eyes knowing he'll have to hear such a tale for the fifty-sixth time.

"Oh yeah! Damn thing put up a fight, but I battled it with my bare hands! I think it was a Chimaera-" "It was an Ashwinder, mpendwa." A soft voice spoke. Vale's mother was calm and collected in helping to jog her husband's memory. "Yes! That's what it was! It was a rough battle, but I had to protect my family from such a thing-" "You accidentally left the fireplace going for too long, mpendwa." "Yeah! Could've done some major damage if I didn't catch it! Well, I showed it a reckoning or two-"

"Dad, mom was the one who had to take care of it when she found you chasing it around the house with a jar."

"It's eggs were good! Your mother needed some anyway." Despite the outcome of the story, Vale clapped her hands to praise her father's 'success.' Adana kissed her husband on the cheek when she finally finished setting up the table with Vale.

"Come on guys! Sit down and eat! Everything is ready now." Vale would beckoned her friends to sit down by then as her family were ready to dive into the food.

Aunt Burgle was there, along with Vale's grandmother Ida. They spoke cheerfully at the dinner table with the rest of the Ashwoods. Despite their strangeness, it could be seen they were in high spirits, quickly speaking in Swahili and a mix of English. Vale took to talking about her time at school, and how her grades were in the mean time.
mpendwa: Swahili language. Loosely translates to 'dear.'

The Rules
  • This is an optional thread to partake in. I've made it for people who wished to interact with Vale and her family other than the games. Speaking of which, all her immediate family members are there, and Vale will be able to see their interactions from her spot at the table. You may talk with them, or just Vale, if you wish. Reminder that they are dNPCs.
  • I know there's twelve people in total at this event. If you wish to partake in this thread, don't go crazy in posting. Let others post as well to get a chance to partake.
  • This event is after axe-throwing and truth or dare cards. The events are on-going while this thread is happening. I don't plan for much interaction to occur until the games have significant progress done.
  • Any questions or concerns can be sent to me via Discord, or by owl.

Hunter decided to take the seat next to Vale since he was most familiar with her and trusted her the most out of everyone. Even despite her crazy sense of norms, she was someone that Hunter admired a bit due to her skills and unique personality. Although he always did take note that because of her crazy nature, she could be rather unpredictable at times. As he looked over at the food and smelled it, he had a wide grin come to his face. Even though he wasn't at home, the familiarity of the meals was something he was glad to see. He never had Ndizi na nyama (meat and banana stew), but he did have Nyama choma (charred meat) before. Some of the other students at the table were possibly going to be hesitant, but Hunter decided to start eating without hesitation. He was also a bit surprised to hear Swahili being spoken with a mixture of english at the table, he honestly felt like he was back at home with his mother and grandmother. The male tones of Swahili from Vale's father and brother made Hunter think a bit about his father, and felt really happy to think that his father was home for a bit.

He turned to Vale and spoke with a slightly stuffed face of the meat-banana stew with a wide smile, "Ninahisi kama nimerudi nyumbani" I feel like I'm back home. Hunter quickly covered his mouth in a bit of surprise. He normally only spoke in Swahili back at home with his own family. Being outside of Hogwarts and being in such a familiar state of mind, he supposed it just came over him. He chuckled a little since he wasn't expecting that to have occurred, "Thanks for inviting me, Vale."
