Duel for the Drowned Closed

Teagan lay on her back, near the lake, staring up at the clouds. After all of the hustle-and-bustle of the classes, and the rather terrifying teachers, Hogwarts could be pleasantly calm. Sunshine poured into Teagan like the heat of an oven into a pie. Warm, hot, burning, but she baked like nothing was wrong.

Other children her age ran near her, probably late for class or other activities they had signed up for. Though Tegan loved school like a second home, she couldn't bring herself to sign up for everything she wanted to do. Even Matthew Rivera's daughter needed time to herself to sit(or lay, in this case) and think.

Teagan liked thinking. Her mind traveled to hundreds of different places, whether to her meeting with Mia on the Astronomy Tower, or how nice a fresh novel would be. She could get lost in the shape of the clouds and how they moved, imagining strange forms for them to take. She smiled faintly as one of the white, fluffy shapes transformed into her favorite animal: a chimera. She didn't often see chimeras in the clouds-blobs had trouble being distinct enough to make such a complicated monster out-and it felt like a good omen. Her favorite animal, on such a peaceful day.

Water splashed on her, drenching her shoes. Tegan shot up from her spot in the grass, looking around the field for the culprit. She didn't realize she was so close to water games, or even the lake in general. Where had that come from? Students still flurried around the yard, but none looked to have their wand in their hand, or be muttering spells under their breath. Augamenti, she recalled. She was supposed to cover it next week in Charms.

Pulling out her aspen wand, she pointed it at random people, waiting for them to flinch. Or smile. Or show some kind of indication that they'd splashed her. More students didn't even glance in her direction until: there. Someone stood, smiling down at her, wand in hand, three yards away. Smiling slyly, Tegan stood up. This kid wanted a duel? They would get a duel.
