Farron had been at Hogwarts for about a week now and had settled in just enough to seek out a companion to keep her company in the castle. Especially since she was mostly nocturnal due to the hours she had to keep and didn't get as much interaction as the rest of the people in Hogwarts. She had a cat while growing up, but eventually she passed and her family couldn't bring themselves to get another animal. After her office hours for Saturday, she headed down to Diagon Alley for a quick snack at the ice cream parlour and a lovely friend.

The two shopkeepers reminded her of her grandparents in London, though they were muggles and these shopkeepers were not. It was a pretty slow day being that most kids got their pets over the summer or during breaks. There were an abundance to choose from, and it was slightly overwhelming. Honestly, she wanted to take them all home. She really needed something that kept the hours that she did, having a mostly daytime pet would make sleeping and giving them the love they deserved would be a nightmare. Also, spiders and birds kind of scared her... she lived in Australia. Spiders were no joke there.

She approached the older woman, Anita, for advice. "What animals would you suggest for someone that is up mostly during nighttime?" She was led over to the Western Green Toad, which was intriguing but the fact that frogs shouldn't be held with bare skin was a bit upsetting. She did want a bit of a cuddle buddy. That fact brought her over to the ferrets. Little wiggle noodles of love. She immediately fell in love with the typically active creatures who were a bit more settled since it was the middle of the day. There was one who made her way up to the glass and attempted to climb her way up.

Anita gave Farron the ferret to hold, and immediately she was sold by the little girl sniffing around before passing out in her arms. It was love at first sight... and smell really. Ferrets had quite the odor. Which is how she affectionately gained the name of Stinkbug, though she would be called a myriad of nicknames revolving around pasta and being smelly. She bought the necessary supplies to give her a nice home and made her way out, thanking Anita for her help. She was doing everything she could to make Hogwarts feel like a new home, and this seemed like one of the final pieces that she needed.
