Meows to fill the silence
The little home in Dundee seemed that much quieter lately. Like something was truly missing from the home, and Dakota knew exactly what it was. With no more meowing of her now late cat, the one her father had given her, Dakota felt as though something had simply disappeared. Of course there were traces of the fluffy Maine coon. His silver fur was still stuck on almost every surface in the home, and Dakota didn't have the heart to get rid of his toys. He had been around for almost as long as she had, and Dakota's brothers even joked he'd outlive one of the four siblings before kicking the bucket. Of course that wouldn't happen, but his death had still been too soon for the second year girl. Her brothers had noticed their little sisters change in actions. Becoming quieter, rarely allowing his toys to be removed from the little cat cookie jar she kept for a holder. Both Mel and Travis agreed their little sister needed something to take care of, but had been a bit nervous about taking her to get a new pet seeing as she had been attached to the silvery cat which would curl up in her lap and snooze whenever she was at home, but they supposed it was with the shot if it helped Dakota. As such Mel had decided to bring his sister to get a new pet.Carefully directing her towards the pet shop he had heard about from Dakota herself, having begged for one to accompany her the previous year so she could get a cat to bring along to Hogwarts. With a bit of confusion but no protest, the small girl entered the shop with a nervous little breath. She had certainly never been here, and didn't exactly know what to expect. But was pleasantly surprised when she was greeted by a woman seeming to be only a few inches taller. As Dakota explained what she was looking for, a pet, a cat to be more exact, the woman kept a warm smile. The scent of sugar cookies being quite honestly comforting, and Dakota adored the floral pattern dress the woman wore. Being simply introduced by names, Dakota settled on referring to Anita Witticker as Mrs. Witticker while being lead along to a room she heard plenty of mewling coming from, filling Dakota's heart with a bit of hope. Certainly she'd find herself the perfect cat.She was not disappointed when she stepped into the room. Almost immediately her gaze picked out a kitten hiding out in a semi-sphere bed and was drawn towards it, Dakota lowering herself to sit on the floor in front of the bed before reaching her hand carefully inside and stroking the kitten behind it's ear. It wasn't long before Dakota was rewarded for her pets, and soon the kitten clambered into her lap and sat in a loaf, purring as Dakota stroked a hand along the kittens back."That's a first," Mrs. Witticker commented with a warm smile. "That kitten had been hiding out in the bed for quite a few days." Nodding to show Dakota had heard the woman, she couldn't help but admire the kittens pelt. Silvery with black spots along her pelt. Scooping the small girl into her arms, Dakota stood as she glanced back towards the woman. "I think i'll take her then." Responding with a nod, Mrs. Witticker motioned for Dakota to follow along as she led the girl to the front desk. Dakota happily shelling out the galleons she owed to the man behind the counter for the kitten before hurriedly stepping out the shoppe to show her brother.610/400
