Louca had been lazy, mind you he had been up late last night so that was no surprise. But it was the weekend. He was allowed to enjoy himself a bit. No classes and no need to be up early. Why would he get up early other than for classes or quidditch? Yawning, he ran his hand through his hair carelessly, the strands bouncing wherever they may but tending to come back together a bit, the waves bouncing back into position.
He had grabbed a flannel and some jeans to wear to breakfast, a white t-shirt underneath. Louca wore a galaxy themed pair of converse he had found for a steal at a thrift store in New Orleans, and was overjoyed to have found them. Guess the whole one man’s trash is another man’s treasure held true.
Strolling into the Great Hall, he looked around, noting which tables had people and somewhat familiar faces while others held some strangers. Moving towards a table that held only one occupant, he pulled on a chair as he looked around at all of the goods. I love breakfast! Louca thought to himself, before realizing he was just standing there foolishly. Looking over to the person, he asked ”May I sit here? But I hope you answer quickly. I could really use some of that bacon.” Louca really was hoping to eat soon, his stomach emphasizing his hunger with a loud growl. Grinning at them, he said, "As you can tell, I waited a little too long for breakfast." He patted his stomach gently.

♫♪.ılılılllılıll |̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅| llılılıllılılı.♪♫Jamie had woken up at precisely 10:55. Not because of choice, mind you, but because his stomach had starting rumbling something fierce. And his mouth was feeling super dry. Hydration and all that...
He haphazardly slipped on his sneakers, then slogged his way down to the dining hall. Mel was waiting for him by the stairs, and the two shared a brief conversation (which involved a well earned smack from Mel), before she skipped off to go see her friends. Jamie yawned loudly and slunk into a seat at a blissfully empty table. Normally, he'd be totally down to clown with some other kids, but there was no socializing until he had some food in him. He noticed the spread on the table, and looked at his options with renewed energy. Just smelling the delicious breakfast was enough to put a twinkle back in his eye. Jamie chuckled happily to himself and immediately started loading his plate.
"Some pancakes with honey, eggs, bacon, ooh, strawberries...!" Jamie sighed in content and began to inhale the bountiful meal with gusto. Suddenly, footsteps sounded behind him.
"May I sit here?"
Jamie turned around, half a slice of bacon sticking out of his mouth. There was a boy around his age standing there. He looked vaguely familiar. Maybe he was another Thunderbird? Jamie slurped up the bacon and nodded. "Sure." As if on cue, the boy's stomach growled loudly. Jamie snorted and patted the space next to him.
"Sounds like you could definitely use some breakfast. Name's Jamie, by the way." He looked the boy up and down. He really did look familiar. Well, better to just ask him flat out.
"Haven't I seen you before, dude? What's your name?"♫♪.ılılılllılıll |̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅| llılılıllılılı.♪♫

Louca loved breakfast, and honestly that was mostly because of bacon and pancakes. Well and the whole being super hungry after waking up thing. That also helped breakfast become his favorite meal. Letting his hand drop to his side, he laughed quietly as the boy turned around with some bacon sticking out of his mouth. Although admittedly it was bacon and thus worthy of such a thing. It just made for a bit of a funny image.
”You’ve got that right, best meal of the day and I’m not just saying that because I’m starving.” Louca said, as he slid a chair out and sat down, leaving a chair in between the two. He knew some people hated others sitting right next to them when there were chairs elsewhere that were unoccupied and tried to make sure that people had space, unless he was pickpocketing. But that kind of required closeness of a sort, and it wasn’t a skill he was practicing at school. At least not on those who didn’t deserve it. Really, he should rename himself Robin Hood.
Realizing he hadn’t responded to the last part of Jamie’s sentence, which seemed the most important considering it was his name, Louca plucked a grape from a platter in front of him, and ate it quickly, realizing that Jamie had asked a question including his name. ”Nice to meet you Jamie, I’m Louca.”
Taking a moment, he grabbed pancakes, put a crazy amount of syrup on it, along with some butter, grabbed some of the bacon (of course), and eggs as well as a few of the fruit options. Probably should eat something at least a little healthy, especially with the amount of syrup.
”We might have some classes together, I’m first year Thunderbird.” Louca squinted at him for a minute. ”You wouldn’t be a Thunderbird would you? I feel like I might have seen you around the common room.” Louca grabbed a piece of bacon and made quick work of devouring it before switching to his pancakes. "Or flying. I've been trying to get in some time, see if I might be able to make quidditch this year." Louca added once he had mostly finished chewing his bite of pancake.

♫♪.ılılılllılıll |̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅| llılılıllılılı.♪♫"That's it!" Jamie exclaimed. He felt extremely energized all of a sudden.
"Same, dude! I'm in Thunderbird too--hurk!"
He choked and doubled over. In all the excitement, a piece of strawberry had lodged itself in his windpipe. Jamie spluttered, shakily held up a finger, and felt around for his glass of orange juice. He knocked it back, and slammed the cup back down onto the table.
Then, he turned back to Louca, face now as red as his hair. "Ahem... anyways, I think we have Charms together! That's where I've seen you."
He took another sip of juice. "And I'll be trying out for quidditch, too! Seeker."He proclaimed proudly. Originally he'd been going for Chaser, but after that last game, it seemed his talents were better suited elsewhere.
"What position are you aiming for?" His voice lowered as he spoke. He needed to know if this guy was going to be a competitor.
Maybe that was his intention all along! Lure me in with friendship and learn all my broom secrets. Or something. Jamie chewed thoughtfully on a pancake as he waited for Louca to answer. His imagination was running wild.
Of course, this wasn't a very plausible accusation. It was honestly a pretty stupid thought, which was usual for the redhead. But Jamie was dead serious when it came to things like quidditch. He sure hoped that Louca wasn't some double-crossing agent. He liked the guy, at least from the few words they had exchanged so far. This was turning out to be a way less boring morning than Jamie had first thought.♫♪.ılılılllılıll |̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅| llılılıllılılı.♪♫

Louca liked Jamie’s energy. It seemed to match Louca’s or even amp Louca up further. He was feeling pretty exhilarated for not having eaten much yet. He took a sip of the milk he had just poured, his mouth feeling a bit dry. He paused then took a larger gulp, before returning to the pancakes he was demolishing. Louca looked over at Jamie at the sound, he made, knowing that was nowhere near normal, but he was thankful to see that everything seemed to be fine after Jamie managed to drink his orange juice. ”That makes sense! Although I don’t know how you notice me, I’m usually hiding in the back. Makes it easier to get away with some small distractions. Louca spoke around a bite of pancake, and then took another drink of his milk, the glass already half gone.
”Oh neat! We should practice together sometime, I’m trying out for Chaser. I guess it wouldn’t really be practicing other than flying. It would be kind of impossible otherwise I think.” Louca chuckled, imagining the two trying to practice their separate roles at the same time. It seemed a little futile. Louca was glad to realize that Jamie was not going to be competition. He would have still been friendly but it would have been much harder to maintain and Louca would have constantly been looking for weaknesses to exploit. He had learned from the best, his parents teaching him every trick they knew, and he had picked up quickly.
Finishing the last bite of his pancakes, he grabbed some more fruit, strawberries and grapes, piling them on his plate, contemplating the toast for a moment before shaking his head slightly, not wanting the dry toast. ”Have you been using the school brooms? And what made you want to be seeker? Nothing wrong with it, just curious.” Louca asked Jamie, always curious to know more about humans and what made them tick, but also he was just very curious by nature anyway.

"Yeah, that'd be sick! We could race each other or something."
He'd been trying on and off with one of the school brooms down by the sports field, but it would be awesome to have someone to do it with. And this Louca guy was trying out to be a Chaser, huh? Well that certainly made things a lot easier! Now they'd be teammates instead of rivals. Although, a fierce rivalry sounded fun as well. Too bad Jamie got along with every single person he met. I guess it's just my natural charm!
"Yep, I've been flying with a school broom," he replied, albeit resentfully. "I really wanna get my own broom, cause then I'll be unstoppable, but I'm kinda broke right now." He pouted. He'd seen plenty of shiny new brooms in the store windows when he was buying school supplies. It had taken all his self control to not bust the door down and spend all his money on a Shooting Star or Firebolt.
"What made you want to be Seeker?" wondered Louca.
Jamie waved away the visions of sleek broom models and switched his attention to the other boy. "Nothing wrong with it. Just curious." said Louca, as he reached for the fruit platter.
Jamie watched his gaze pass over the toast, then snatched it up when it was clear his new acquaintance wasn't interested. He slapped a fried egg on top of it, and shoved it into his mouth, chewing thickly.
"Well, I originally wanted to try out for Chaser too," he said, swallowing with great effort.
"But there's this thing about me--I've always been really good at spotting what my mom calls minute details. I don't really know that means, but I'm good at finding things others can't, and noticing really specific things about..."
He paused, searching for the right word. "...Stuff. Like for example, at the last quidditch game, I found the snitch a whole five seconds before the Seeker did! How cool is that?"
Jamie took a bunch of grapes and leaned back rather cockily. "So I guess you could say I have a secret talent. And the Seeker is the guy who wins the game!"♫♪.ılılılllılıll |̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅| llılılıllılılı.♪♫@Emma Wynn

Louca nodded as he ate a strawberry. ”Yes! I swear if I hadn’t have been in quidditch, I would have done broom racing. We could easily figure out a course that would have a lot of obstacles and all of that fun. Maybe a few weaving obstacles as well.” At this point he was gesturing with the top of his strawberry. Grinning, Louca placed the top on his plate and grabbed a handful of grapes, throwing them one by one in the air and catching them in his mouth. The second to last hit him right in the eye, and it dropped to the floor as he tilted his head up, a quick ”Ouch, evil grape!” escaping his mouth. Deciding it wasn’t worth the pain to finish the last grape, he just tossed it into his mouth and tried to decide if there was anything else he was interested in or if he would have more fruit.
Shrugging, Louca grabbed a few more strawberries but quickly dropped them on his plate to hold up his hand in the standard high five pose, Louca said ”Same here! But I’m planning to get something before end of year, but it’ll be a less fancy broom. Eventually I’d like to get something super high end but mainly I just want to get off of the school brooms at this point. Any brooms you've got your eye on?” Louca would want the fastest broom he could possibly get, after all that would let him do so much more, and several moves he didn't think he could quite pull off with the slower school rooms but it wasn't like he could steal easily in the magical world and it would take time for him to get the money together otherwise. He'd figure out a way as he always did but it was a lot more work than normal. Louca wasn't sure he liked that aspect of trying to keep out of trouble. Though really that was the only thing he'd decided was off limits at least at school.
Louca clapped quietly but enthusiastically. ”That is so cool! And obviously necessary for a seeker. Makes sense.” Louca started laughing at his confidence. ”Really the seeker may end the game but if the chasers haven’t been scoring then there’s really no hope. I guess you could argue the keeper has their part in it, but majority is the chasers, really.” Louca shrugged, smirking as he did so. After all, everyone knew chasers were superior. That's why they needed three of them on the team.

♫♪.ılılılllılıll |̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅| llılılıllılılı.♪♫Jamie lunged for the fallen grape, and scooped it off the floor. "Five second rule!" he chirped, and then popped it into his mouth.
He grinned, and gave Louca a high five that left his hand stinging. "Yeah bro, we'll have to schedule some time to practice, for sure!"
Then he bowed enthusiastically when Louca applauded.
"Thank you, thank you. Chasers are awesome too! I'm not saying they're not. I was gonna try out for that at first, after all."
"Any brooms you've got your eye on?" asked Louca.
"Ooh, that's a hard one," Jamie mused. He rested his chin on his fist, and blew a couple curls off of his forehead. "Probably a Starsweeper XXI! That was the brooms our team had in the World Cup a few years ago. The Roman numeral thingie means twenty one, y'know."
His eyes brightened, and he gestured wildly with his hands as he spoke.
"I've been reading up on all the quidditch history since I got here. Did you know that in 2014, the World Cup, that the Japanese team rode brooms called yajirushi, which means--"
Jamie stopped short, and blinked a couple times.
"...Anyway, do you--do you have a broom you'd like to get?"
His voice cracked slightly at the end of his sentence. He hoped that Louca wasn't too weirded out by his tangent, but more importantly, he didn't want to seem like a nerd. He had already ditched his stupid glasses (conveniently "forgot" them in his dorm room), so he didn't need to reveal how intensely he'd been reading about stuff. Broom models, quidditch history, etmology; the whole shebang was his current hyperfixation for the month, which meant that he was on track to know all about it. Then he'd move onto something else afterwards with just as much enthusiasm.
But reading! It didn't fit his image at all. Well, to be honest, he wasn't really sure what his image actually was, but he wanted to be cool, so reading probably wasn't part of the plan, right?
Jamie tried to push all the confusing thoughts back into the more barren part of his brain, and turned back to Louca. Now this was a cool guy! It would be great to get to know him better. Maybe they could even be friends.♫♪.ılılılllılıll |̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅| llılılıllılılı.♪♫@Emma Wynn

Louca laughed as Jamie swiped the grape that had injured him off of the floor. Jamie was amusing and it was easy to like him, and talk to him. It certainly made breakfast much more interesting than the usual. Louca was glad when he said they should schedule some practice time. He was confident but still admittedly had practiced by himself most times so he was sure that he could use some refining specifically in the teamwork area. But that would be fine, he’d get that more once he was on the team. “Yeah, we’ll have to set something up.”
He grinned, amused with the back and forth between them. He nodded, leaving things about quidditch position as is as there didn’t seem to be much more to say about the subject. After all, it wasn’t like they had seen each other play and could comment there. Although admittedly they could talk about their favorite players but then Louca was distracted by Jamie answering his question about brooms.
“I did know that! Though it tends to take a minute to recall which is which. I dunno, maybe it makes them look more fancy? Otherwise you would think they would use plain old numbers.” Louca grinned, not having really thought of that whole Roman numeral thing. Though admittedly he wasn’t much into history so who knew if there had been an explanation given for it.
“Which means? I know French, not Japanese. And those two are completely different so I’ve got no guesses as to what it means. I should try that, figuring out more of the history. Maybe a rainy day though. Better days are for flying and adventures.” Louca nodded, confident he was the authority in that kind of thing. Although admittedly, he could only speak for himself. There were people who preferred to read or something on nice days as well as rainy days. It just wasn’t for Louca. He needed motion, and action especially on nice days.
Louca took a moment that he really didn’t need. “I haven’t really figured it out. I definitely want something speedy but then you’ve got to balance that with balance and braking and all of that. I’m trying to put together a chart, but its slow going. There are a lot of brooms out there! And I’m not even really looking at foreign brooms much. “ Admittedly it was a very confusing chart and could probably use more organization. There was color everywhere and he had pasted photos of each broom on the poster board. But in no particular order or really aligned at all.

He faltered a bit at Louca's further inquiring.
"It means, uh, arrow in Japanese." he said under his breath. "Uh--hey, speaking of different places, where are you from?"
Jamie sat back from the food for the time being, and picked up his orange juice, inclining the glass at Louca as he spoke.
"I'm from Oregon!" he said, puffing out his chest in pride.
"Portland, Oregon. It's a dope place to live, and my favorite places are the skate park and Lardo's sandwiches." He grinned widely as memories of times back home flashed through his mind. Man, he definitely lucked out in the home city department.
"You should totally swing by if you get the chance!" Jamie exclaimed. He still didn't know Louca all that well--they'd only been chatting for about fifteen minutes-- but he was already treating the guy like a good friend. It was just his friendly nature shining through.
"I should show you my skateboard sometime, too," He mused, as he knocked back more juice.
"Almost got busted trying to ride it down the hallway last week, but it was fun!" He'd have to try that again soon. The school corridors were perfect for practicing a nice, long glides, and for building up momentum. He'd have to see if he could do a grind on the stairways too.
Jamie didn't understand why the teachers had been so worked up about it--he was "enriching his mind", wasn't he? And the school was super old and beat up anyways, so a couple more scratches on the wood wouldn't hurt.♫♪.ılılılllılıll |̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅| llılılıllılılı.♪♫@Emma Wynn
