Not that I mind terribly. In fact, I'll be writing home after I send this. Did you know you can also send parcels through owls as well? Owls are incredibly strong, huh? That or their burden is lightened magically? I've seen an owl delivering a stack of books before. What do you think?
I'm thinking of requesting my mum's lavender cookies. I'll ask for two portions so I can send you some. They're good with tea, especially before bed; perfect for winding down with. Or in the morning with coffee, if you need to focus on last-minute homework.
I know what you mean. I may have been told about what to expect in Hogwarts, but nothing beats figuring things out yourself. We should. Besides, I'll need someone to explore the Castle with.

That’s really cool. I didn’t know that we can send parsels parcels or that we can write back to our families. My gramma will be super happy.
I remember Professor Wik Wicka Whats-Her-Name from Potion’s class said something about lavender in class, but I didn’t know there were lavender cookies. My gramma makes some good pies, but I don’t know if they could be sent all the way from Ireland. I’ll ask though.
Maybe we can meet with Kim in the Great Hall and all three of us can have some for desert if she can.
Also, if you come to the Owlery a lot, be careful not to pet every owl. Some of them are actually students - like the ones I mentioned last week in Transfiguration! I was so embarassed embarrassed!

True, lavender isn’t something you normally add to food. Mum says it has calming properties so she adds it to most things; soaps, candles, salves, and yes, cookies, too.

Food is so amazing. There are a few times each year when my grandma and I fast, so I always verge on gluttony leading up to those days. Like you said, we’re growing girls. I’m just still working on the growing part.
I did some reading on Animaguses Animagi, and it turns out it’s not something you’re born with like magic, but anyone can learn it. Can you imagine? Turning into an owl and flying through the skies? Or a dolphin? Or a puppy? I’m so jealous. I think I’ll read more tonight, but the librarian scares me. She has a snake!
The owl incident is highly classy classified so I don’t have any idea what you’re talking about. If someone says something happened, they’re probably making it up.
Cato is pretty adorable. The way he gobbled up the food I gave him was so funny. I wish you’d seen it! You mentioned that he belongs to your brother, right? Are you two close? I always wanted a baby sister but Mom and Daddy used to tell me that one of me is the same as two kids. I think they were teasing, but I still bugged them about it.
I’m usually in the Owlery every single night before dinner and between classes. I usually make it to the Common room right before curfew, but I hate being cooped up inside. Did you notice the battlements (I looked that word up) between the towers? Part of me wants to find a way on them, but a bigger part of me doesn’t want to die from a fall. We should get together and explore some day. I’m sure we can drag Kim along.

Ah, I haven't been to the library. I've been meaning to do my homework there as our Common Room gets a bit rowdy on certain days, particularly after Quidditch practice. Some of the older boys like to hog the seats by the hearth - it's just not fair.
Oh dear, a librarian with a snake? Hm, I'd certainly feel better if we were to brave it together.
Ah, it seems I've misunderstood, then! There’s no way any of those owls could be a potential student. I don’t think they’d allow themselves to be petted. Or would they? Still, that would be strange.
I’m glad you are getting along with Cato. My brother and I - we have a rivalry of some sort, it's nothing but healthy competition between siblings. My brother is quite exemplary, when he isn't being an arse. Does that mean you’re an only child? If you are, then I am absolutely jealous right now. I’m glad you didn’t have to suffer the curse of hand-me-downs.
Battlements, huh. I’m sure there are stairs leading to them, we’ve just got to find them. That’s a good idea, he knows the castle well, doesn’t he? Speaking of which, I still haven’t found a way to avoid staircases for that matter. I have, however, started to get a feel for when they might stir and shift. It appears that some stairs have different patterns of movement. The staircase leading up to the 4th floor is the grumpiest of the lot and the least predictable. Don't ask me how I know that.
We have a small collection of books, but it’s mostly about Gryffindor’s history and prominent figures. Our Common Room is quite cosy; we have a lion portrait above the mantelpiece, and plush blankets for windy-er days and soft, mushy seats by the roaring fire. Aside from previously-won trophies and decorative shields, there isn’t much to see.

We should go to the library after class, one day! I've been there a couple times, but only to get more books about those Animagi. I haven't really gotten the chance to browse for fun, just yet. We could watch each others' backs and warn each other if we see the snake! It'll be an adventure.
Those owls most certainly could not have been students. If they had been, they might have turned back into students and chased me off, and that most certainly did not happen. And I didn't trip and fall on the way out. Because it didn't happen.
I am absolutely an only child, and it's always so lonely. I used to have friends at muggle school, but moving to Ireland changed that. Tell me more about your brother! What's his name? Does he look like you? Is he at Hogwarts?
I still hate the staircases. Luckily our Common Room is in the same tower as the owlery, so I can cut a bit of staircase travel out, but I'm not a big fan of heights. Kim and I are the same when it comes to that, so it might be tough to get him onto the battlements with us, but maybe we can drag him there together. He can't say no then!
