River was sitting at a bench outside, she had a map spiraled out in front of her, in truth River was rather boring about most topics, sure she could talk, and she was polite, but the girl really had one interest, one that no one else seemed to like, the girl liked maps, anything to do with maps, she could talk your ear off about a Political Map differs from awriting as NPC River Fayre.
Physical Map or such, she loved geography, and had memorized that there were 195 countries. She could tell you all their names, she could tell you a fact about each one, yet, River lacked in a lot of other things, she hated homework, she had little patience for people who asked tons of questions that were almost the same or the same, she did not have the best grades, often getting by with just passing unlike her sister who always got the highest grades it was something that Raine and Auguste (her parents) bugged her about whenever she was at home.
Today River was looking at a new map, o e she badpicked up so where, this map was going to join the collection that was living under her bed after it was looked over a great deal, this map was the map of her school, of Beauxbatons academy of magic, River was sure she would read the whole thing top to bottom, she would learn the whole school, by map.

The young girl practically ran outside and as she made her way further through the grounds, something in her peripheral vision caught her attention. She turned around to find a girl who looked her age sat on a bench with a map of something sprawled out in front of her. From this distance, the young girl couldn't see what was on the map, so there was only one thing to do: go over to this girl.
"Hello!" Vivienne chirped cheerfully, waving at the girl, "I'm Vivienne, but you can call me Vivi or Vi if you want to. That's a really cool map you have there!" Now that she was closer, she looked down at the map and gasped excitedly, "That's a map of Beauxbatons! Does it have any secret passageways on it? Or is it just a map of the school minus the secret passageways? That's still really cool though! This castle is huge, a map would definitely come in handy," she sat down beside the girl before continuing, "do you think Beauxbatons has secret passageways? Surely it must do, since it's a big castle and everything. I haven't been able to find any though." She tapped her lips with her finger repeatedly, as if deep in thought.

River looked upas she seen a Girl approach her, "Hello! My name is River Fayre" hearing the girl, Vi, say that the map was really cool, made River glow, "Do you like maps too? I love maps, I have a ton of Maps in my dorm! I can share them with you." an offer River rarely gave, she liked to keep her Maps in her sight or in the safety of her dorm, but if someone liked maps, nothing was stopping River from sharing them.Italics=french
"yeah, it does have a few, my Sister dropped this map off at my dorm this morning, I've not fully looked it over, But I think it has at least ten!" she looked at the map, finding a passageway she placed her finger on a small gray line, one that showed a secret passage way, "Say, do you think you'd be up to following this map to a passage way? we could learn the map best if we seen it with our own eyes!" it was a risk, asking someone if they wanted to explore, but it was worth it, right? well River figured it was, anything was safe, until it kills you at least.
River moved the map, so that the other girl could see it too.

Vivienne's face brightened instantaneously at the mention of secret passageways in Beauxbatons, "No way, really? At least ten? How have I never seen them before?" She had wandered around the school so many times that she was honestly shocked she had never came across any of the secret passageways River had mentioned. She quickly shrugged it off, though, "Ah well, I guess they were just hiding on me so that we could explore them together! I would definitely love to follow the map to a passageway, so you have asked the right person to accompany you on this daring adventure, River!"
The young girl stared down at the map, studying it for a few seconds before standing up and holding out a hand in offering to River, "We better start now if we want to find all these passageways today! Do you want to lead the way, since it's your map?" Vivienne already knew this day was going to be extremely fun and adventurous, and what better way to explore a massive castle in search of secret passageways than with a newfound friend?

River smiled "I have tons of maps, under my bed I have a whole pile, some are older then others, I mean my oldest on is a map of my village, it's a very nice map, but I hardly use it, because I've looked at it so many times!" she grinned, it was true that she had many maps, and to be honest, River's love of maps was a little odd, and had been very random, considering the fact that no one else in ber family liked maps, she was pretty sure her Sister, Flora, could not read maps, which was her loss, if you asked River.
"I'd love to explore some, I don't we could ever get them ALL, because I mean there is sooooo many, but we might be able to find at least, two, maybe more." she stood up and grabbed her other things, and then got the map, "Why don't we try this one first? It would make sense, because it is the closest one to us, of course, if you wanted to try another, we could do that one too, I'm good with anything" she pointed to a passageway that was near the wall, they were only a few hundred yards away from it.

"We can always try and find them all! We have until we graduate, which is a long way away," she enunciated long for emphasis, "so we have plenty of time to try and find all the secret passageways that Beauxbatons holds!" The brunette glanced at the passageway River was pointing to, and it certainly did appear to be the closest one to them, "Yes, it'd make sense if we go try and find that one. It's near the wall, isn't it? Let's go!" Vivienne started walking in the right direction, hoping River would follow.
"So, what other things do you like except for maps and exploring?" She asked curiously, "I, personally, am a huge fan of the beach and the ocean. See this-" she pointed at the shell necklace around her neck, "was a gift from my mama and I wear it all the time, I never ever take it off. It reminds me of home and I love it! Do you have anything that reminds you of home incase you get homesick? I'm definitely used to Beauxbatons now and I really love it, but I did use to miss my family a lot when we first got here." As they walked Vivienne's eyes would be glancing all around her, trying to take in the beauty of nature as much as possible. She supposed she should've brought her camera out, but it wasn't the end of the world and at least she was still able to experience her surroundings herself.

River thought for a moment, "Umm, I'd say my map of France." She paused "It's so cool, it shows some really cool stuff, like the boundaries of Paris, and such. Sadly it does not show wizarding villages and such, because it's a muggle map." She sighed contently, thinking about the map, "You should come to my dorm sometime, and I could show you all my maps!" River liked to show off her maps, and if there was someone who would listen, not ask to many stupid questions, and not hurt her maps, she would be willing to show them off, to share the love.writing as NPC River Fayre.
The French girl nodded, "True, we could try, and I bet we could do it, We've got soooooo many years ahead of us."
River followed Vivienne armed with her map, "Umm, I really like to go for broom rides, I have a broom that was my sister's but due to... Family matters, I ended up getting it, I might join a sport of some kind one day, I'm not sure." She shrugged. Family matters was the best way to quickly explain what had happened to Mabel, and even if the French girl had said it lightly, her heart felt heavy with the words. "Oceans are cool, my family once took a trip, and we seen the ocean, and went for a swim, it was chilly!"

"We could definitely do it!" Vivienne agreed enthusiastically, practically skipping along towards their destination, "There's nothing us girls can't do!" Vivienne listened eagerly as River talked about her hobbies, nodding along excitedly when appropriate. It was always so interesting to learn what other people liked to do with their free time. She saw a word before online - sonder - which was the realization that everyone around you was living a life as complex as your own. The brunette supposed that was why she enjoyed listening to other people speak about their hobbies so much, because it really made Vivienne see what type of person they were.
"You should definitely join a sport!" Vivienne agreed, "I'm a Broom Racer, you should join it too! It seems really fun." Somehow, Vivienne's smile miraculously managed to brighten when River agreed that oceans were cool, "I love the ocean so much! I live in Étretat, which is a seaside town, so it was basically inevitable that I love the ocean as much as I do. I spent practically all of my time there growing up! You should visit sometime and we could swim in it together! It definitely is cold when you first enter," the young girl nods, agreeing, "but it warms up really quickly when you start swimming around!"
She changed the topic as they continued walking, "Are we near the secret passageway?" She asked, sparing a glance at River's map, though she would let River navigate the map as it was hers after all.
