Curses and Crushes
Soft steps echoed the long chamber as shoes climbed the stairs to the fourth floor. A small pause and then a whish of robes was heard, the person adjusting their stance. A pale hand raised from it's regular position at the figure's side to tuck a stray piece of brown hair behind their ear. It was no other than Annie Morgan. Here she stood in front of the door to the Duelling Club's practice room. Now, she wasn't in dueling but she had.. friends who were.
"What I could give to talk to Lamik right now.." Annie grumbled. Talk about what you may ask? Well it was coming up on a month since her regular avoidance of the one and only Callista Lovis and Annie had been moping around school finding comfort in friends, old and new. Trying to move on and utterly failing "Hurricane." She'd mutter the word, feeling a tug and popping noise in her brain. Empty silence. Her heart clenched. Even Dale wasn't responding to her. Did something bad happen with his mom again? Last time he left unexpectedly and didn't say a word but he promised to communicate if something like this happened again.
Damnit.
Annie reached up to clench her hair in her hands, getting an overwhelmed swirl of emotions in the pit of her stomach. Just then she'd hear the door creak open, and snap her head up, startling from her slouched position in the middle of the room. Had she made it to the wall she'd just end up slumping down and crying anyways, maybe it was better to get disrupted and forget. How many people in this school had seen her cry in the last few months? More than she'd like to admit probably. The brunette collected herself and turned around to face the doorway. "Ah crap, hopefully I'm not interrupting anything I'll just be on my way, the room's all yours." Every time any sort of emotion or thought pertaining to Calli came to her she always found herself in a place that they met or talked or was important to her. Finding herself in the Duelling Club room was just another false hope and fond memory she was holding onto. Maybe she should just.. let go?

Curses and Crushes
[quote]
EVERLY HAD A BAD HABIT OF OBSESSION. It usually started with a flaw or imperfection, and slowly, it'd develop into a constant badgering of something she had to fix. Whether it be her relationship with someone else or a specific skill, it'd eventually become a bigger and bigger problem in her eyes, until she could ignore it no longer. It was occurring again now, ever since her duel in January. They'd won, she'd learned after she woke up in the Hospital Wing, but it felt like she hadn't. Of course, she'd had full confidence in Lamik's abilities, but hers was another story. She felt like she was dragging their partnership through the mud. There wasn't much she was able to contribute. Somehow, she'd gotten it in her head that she just had to get better.
Her visits to the Dueling Club were becoming more and more frequent. It wasn't that she'd never done so before, but now, she'd retire to the Dueling Club during the majority of her free time. There was no scarcity of other students, either; whenever she'd go, she would be surrounded by spells and shouts that weren't hers. Sometimes she liked being alone, but this wouldn't be one of those times. It was comforting in a way, to know that she wasn't the only one there.
Today seemed to be calmer, she noted as she started down a familiar route. The loud chatter that was often in the halls had died down to a quiet hum in the back of her mind. Slinging her bag over her shoulder, she'd walk in brisk steps, quickly arriving at the doors of the Dueling Club. With a short huff, she'd push the doors open, but find it was already occupied.
A lone figure was curled in the middle of the room, and if the tear tracks on her face and slouched position weren't clues enough, she didn't know what was. It was clear something had happened, and Everly automatically felt as though she was intruding. Tentatively, she'd speak. "-No! You're fine, don't worry. ... Are you alright?" Everly had never been the best at comforting people, and all she hoped was that this wouldn't end badly.
