When: Saturday, March 5th (early afternoon)
Where: Library, table in a "quiet" corner
For a solid few months, things finally seemed to have been settling down. There had been the terrorist explosion in Hogsmeade over the summer that had tragically claimed the lives of near a score of students from the Russian school, but after that, things almost seemed to have settled into some semblance of normalcy at Hogwarts. Or as close to normal as Evelynn might have expected of a magical universe, anyway. With one exception.
Par for the course, the fall ball had brought with it a level of unwanted trepidation despite the general theme for that time of year. Marion had made her appearance, luring a group of them away from the "festivities" even while duels had broken out between clashing sides of the conflict and slugs had erupted to take advantage of the chaos in the hopes of catching unwary victims off guard. Whether any had was unknown to Evelynn; she had left too soon during the commotion to witness the fallout, and none had updated her otherwise. And then... nothing again.
Or at least nothing to which she had been made privy. She wasn't sure which was worse: the idea that events were still transpiring to which she was wholly ignorant; or that nothing sinister at all was now taking place, that students and professors had accepted it and were living their lives accordingly, and that this would bother her. It had almost—almost—come as a relief when monthly Daily Prophet releases had started printing articles worth reading (#1, #2, #3). In a backwards sort of way, it had reinforced the notion that all was not as it seemed, soothing her paranoia of evil machinations broiling beneath a deceptively serene surface.
Secreted away at a back corner of the library, Evelynn had made her escape from the busyness of her typical day to day in order to absorb the latest issue.

@Evelynn DecipioJorah enjoyed the library, why wouldn’t he.? Who didn't love a quiet room that smelt of parchment? Even a jock like him could appreciate that smell, unless of course they had one too many broken noses or were exposed to a particular virus. Even in that scenario, the library was still a sacred place of peace. The stillness espoused an aura of calm tranquility enhanced by the pleasant turning of pages and the crackling of burning logs on the fire at the far end of the room. What an ideal place to study and perform ones work. The only thing getting in the way of productivity, was Jorah himself. Ever the procrastinator, Jorah thought a light stroll through the library would be just what he needed to conjure the motivation necessary to tackle his nearly due History of Magic assignment. Jorah walked down the carpeted aisle, pausing at the gated entrance to the Restricted Section. What secrets do you hide in there?, he wondered. Jorah moved in for a closer look, peering through the bars for any information he could gather on the mysterious tomes inside... he couldn’t make out anything. Jorah palmed the handle of his wand, sitting within his robes. The gate's lock didn't look impressive. He toyed with the idea of attempting Alohomora and gaining entry. But what if he was caught? Rule breaking meant detention, and detention meant no quidditch. Ravenclaw was doing so well this year, fending off both Slytherin and Gryffindor. They had a real chance of winning the Quidditch cup, as long as no one did anything... stupid. Curiosity killed the cat. Jorah stepped back from the gate and moved on.
Further down, passing a few rows of bookshelves, Jorah spotted a familiar face tucked away in a corner. The Sneak had her face buried in newspapers. Jorah checked his inner pocket, his lucky double sided dragon Galleon was safe and sound. Last year, Evelynn had managed to swipe away this precious tricket. Gryffindor then proceeded to win the Quidditch Cup while Ravenclaw had the worst season in years. Coincidence?...I think not!! His lucky coin was confirmed lucky. Jorah was so grateful that Evelynn had returned his precious home. To think of it, this may have been the first time he saw the girl since he knocked her off her broom during their game. Jorah idly played with the few wooden beads he wore around his neck. Fortunately for Evelynn, her broom was spared from Jorah's broom breaking onslaught. This was for the better, Silver Arrows weren't cheap, and Jorah considered Evelynn, a friend.
Having dropped all pretense of sitting down to do his homework, Jorah pulled out his wand and directed it at Evelyn’s newspaper. Without disturbing the quiet of the library, he whispered the incantation, "Illegibilus."

One moment, Evelynn was immersing herself in a rather engaging article about an attempt at human-configuration gone wrong. The next, the article had transitioned into something that was no longer even English. For a moment, she'd though perhaps there had been a printing error and that part of the column had been rendered gibberish, but doubling back through that which she had already read revealed the fact of the matter: her entire paper had been turned to nonsense. And that could only mean one thing....As a school mainly focused on the Healing Arts and their student’s connection to nature, Mahoutokoro had failed to grammar scartifying recording ovation of decals an hops ot boo sits repredution wit thagornta supract aduvthak tarkagolish curro sto den slishmurfan ti pregnorm...
With a snap of paper, the newspaper was lowered briskly to the table. Already, Evelynn's hand reached for her wand, fingers groping deftly for the handle nestled snuggly within the inside seem of her boot. Her eyes, however, were lifted, searching for the perpetrator. She needn't look far. Having—apparently—taken no effort to hide himself, he stood out like a fox in a chicken coop. Wand still lofted and pointing in her direction, Evelynn met the gaze of one Jorah Moussa.
"Charming," she chided, tone dripping with sarcasm as she clicked her tongue and pulled her gaze back to the paper. "Finite incantatem." At least the spell was one that was easily undone. A simple chant, a precise manoeuvring of her wand, and already the words were righting themselves back to their original verbose. "You are already my bane in the air, I do not need your meddling on land as well."
Wand slipped back away, fingers plucked the paper back from the table, gave it a flick to straighten its pages, and pulled it back to a position to read. Only, she didn't quite resume her journalistic study. Instead, those piercing grey eyes lingered on the beater. "Was there something with which I might help you?"
