A Dash of Friendship
The classes of that day were finally over, much to Selena's relief. She normally didn't mind a hard working day of school, but today was different. She had woken up later than usual, causing her to be tired and a bit snappy and while she was walking to her first class, the staircase had moved on her, forcing her to find a different route.

A DASH OF FRIENDSHIP.
Now that the school day was over, she could head down to the courtyard and read on one of the benches the rest of the afternoon. That sounded like the perfect evening to her. She had run up to the Ravenclaw dorms to drop her things off and to grab a book, and now she was headed outdoors.
Clutching her book firmly in one hand, Selena wove through the mess of students in the hallway until she turned a corner sharply. This corridor was thankfully less crowded than the previous one had been. Only a few students dotted the otherwise empty corridor. Selena began making her way down this one with the destination of the grounds in mind. Maybe she would even be able to finish her book if she got there quickly enough.

The hallways were packed, to Everly's absolute delight. The after class traffic jams were always the worst, especially directly after class ended. Everly often frequented at the Library or outside during this time, not the common room, since she had to weave all the way up to the fifth floor if she wanted to get there, which she usually didn't because - this.
"Watch it!" she snapped at a first year that jabbed her in the side with a lingering sharp elbow. She winced, moving towards the side as she decided to try to wait until it cleared up more before she started moving again. Navigating these were like trying to dodge a boulder the size of a house - it was, to put it simply, basically impossible.
Everly pressed her book to her chest like a shield, sliding across the wall like a snake on a tree trunk. So far, this method seemed to be working the best. The crowd parted easily as she made her way through, and Everly let her guard down, ever so slightly.
She rounded the corner, starting down a new corridor, one less busy than the previous one. She let out a sigh of relief, making her way back into the crowd, blending in like she'd never stopped in the first place.
Oof!
Everly's book and Everly went flying (well, less dramatically) as she bumped into yet another person. Her first instinct was to snap at them too like she'd done with the Hufflepuff mere minutes ago, but she restrained herself. It wasn't their fault, was it?
Get yourself together, she told herself sternly, turning to collect all of her stuff and face the person she'd bumped into. It was a little first year Ravenclaw, she noted, with a mess of brown hair and eyes that danced somewhere between blue and gray. Instantly, guilt flooded her vision. "Agh, sorry. It's really busy today."

Selena began to walk at a quicker pace now that she was out of the thick of the crowd. All she was thinking about is her book and how much she wanted to finish it today. It was at its climax currently, and she didn't think she could handle waiting in suspense for any longer. She was borderline jogging to get to the courtyard now, ready to find out how the book would end.
In her haste to get outdoors, she didn't notice another student round the nearest corner. Selena collided into her, causing her to stumble back and almost lose her balance. The collision snapped some sense back into her. She probably shouldn't have been letting herself daydream and not pay attention while walking in the halls. Something like this was pretty much asking to happen.
"I'm sorry!" she exclaimed. The other girl, a Gryffindor a bit older than she was, also apologized. "It is really busy. Sorry again, it was completely my fault. I wasn't paying attention to where I was walking. I suppose I was too caught up in thinking about the ending of my book here." The Gryffindor thankfully did not seem too upset by the crash, but she still felt a bit guilty that the accident had even happened in the first place.
Seeing as they both were still standing there in the corridor, Selena decided it would be good to introduce herself. "I'm Selena Arden. I hope I didn't hurt you or anything." It wasn't the greatest way to meet someone, but hopefully the girl would accept her apology and they could carry on.
