"What about this Stantler? Wait no, not him! Oops," Jake said, covering his mouth with his hands. He'd forgotten to whisper.

Charms wasn't totally done yet, which is why Jake had to be quiet. But there were only a few minutes left, and Jake had already finished the activity. At the beginning of class, Jake had wasted no time planting himself down next to his friend Jack Burnett in the back of the room, along with his Pikachu binder, adorned with some of his favorite Pokemon stickers. Inside were all of his cards, organized neatly.

It had been a little over a week ago when Jake and Jack had both found out that the other collected cards. That's when they'd had the genius idea to write their parents to send their cards so they could compare and trade. Jack's had come first, and now finally, Jake's had arrived! Today was the first day they'd both had them, and Jake had been too excited to wait until after class. Professor Fresnel was one of his favorite professors, and he didn't think she'd yell at them.

Of course, trading Pokemon cards had SOUNDED good at first. But as they'd tried, Jake was finding how attached he was to each card. How could he just give one of them away? He loved stantler! How would Ash's pokemon feel if he just traded them away like nothing? So so far it had more turned into Jake showing Jack his favorites, and admiring Jack's. But that was really fun too.

"Ooh, look at this one, I've got a Litleo," He wasn't really very strong, but Jake didn't care about that. He knew that the cards COULD be used for battling, but he didn't really like to battle. He didn't even know the rules. He really just liked admiring the pictures. "And look, a Rockruff. He's one of my favorites. Ooh, and shiny Scorbunny!" There were many, many more where those come from. A pack here and a pack there over the years, added up to a lot of cards.

As Jake saw some he wanted to show, he would take them carefully out of the binder. And so as class got close to ending, the two boys were huddled over many cards that had been spread on the table.

Jack, like Jake, had finished the class activity ahead of time. Unlike Jake, Jack made an effort to seem like someone who didn't take class or his studies seriously, which was why he often did his assignments and activities prior to class taking place. Thus, Jack was all for chilling out with Jake at the back of the class discussing pokemon cards and admiring each other's collections even before the period had ended.

Though Jack understood (with some amusement) why Jake didn't want to trade cards, he enjoyed simply discussing the topic of pokemon with the other boy. It had been so long since he had truly been able to discuss something so completely muggleborn with someone else and sometimes he forgot there were others who might have missed the same things he did. Grinning as Jake showed off his cards one by one, Jack nodded, flipping through his own binder that was laid out across a desk.

"Are you sure that's a shiny Scorbunny and not just a holographic?" the Slytherin asked, squinting at the card. "I forget what color shiny Scorbunny are. Still, that's really cool. Most of my cards are Kanto and Johto pokemon. Oh, but look at these!"

He flipped through his pages of cards until he came across the ones he was looking for. "Have you ever seen these before, Morris? There's a Team Rocket Ball, a Team Aqua Ball, and a Team Magma Ball. I don't think many people even realize these exist since they're not shown in the show or the games."

That day's charms class was much like anyother charms class. Henry had a seat at a desk in the back of the room, a sure way to avoid interactions or ideal chatter for a few moments.

The teen had a open book at his desk, reading over the pages since he already finished the class activity beforehand. Turning the page of his book, eyes gazing over each word, mind soaking in the knowledge. The scene. Books usually could distract the lad, to allow him to pass the time without much on his hands except for a book. A book that can transport one to another time, anoter world even and for a few moments allow you to be anyone. Allow you to step out of your own skin, no matter uncomfortable or awkward it is into another braver, courageous, or even carefree skin.

The teen flipped the page, scanning over the dry pages of the book. The light swish from the turn page hitting his ears. The smell of the book setting in his nostrils with a light layer of dust, threatening him to sneeze.

The teen felt his left hand jerk to his nose, lifting his head up as he let out a small let high pitched sneeze from the dust belonging to his book. Eyes now lifted, he gazed around the room there wasn't much going on besides light conversation or students doing the charms activity.

The teen looked back toward his book before gettung distracted, a voice followed by another. The teen looked toward his side at another back desk to find his blue gaze landing on a dorm mate and hufflepuff prefect fiddling through cards? Colorful cards containing odd creatures, that some reminded Henry of magical creatures such as occumy or a fire carb. Intrigued the teen closed his book, holding it aginest his chest as his eyes stayed on the two fellow third years with a mind reeling of questions.

The teen wished his orange feline was here, Loki has a essence of confidence and would normally pull his onwer into social situations so he didn't have to think or maul over the consequences of entering an social interaction.

The teen took a breath, pushing back a few strands of hair then rose to his feet. Taking a few short strides to the neighbor back desk, the teen offered a small nod with a soft smile as he spoke"Hello, mind if I ask what are those?" The colorful cards and objects three Henry off, it looked bright and a little obnoxious to stare at it for the eyes but there was another element- aspect that that Henry couldn't take his eyes from the cards.

As Charms class wrapped up, one student after the other would finish their activity and start to socialize. It was a normal occurrence in most classes, especially on Mondays, when the freedom from the previous weekend made them restless while sitting in class and listening to lectures. Professor Fresnel was hardly the boring type, usually loud and engaging in her lessons, as well as wont to occasionally share sweets with the students, but she could never substitute for peer interaction and the bonding that children their age craved.

Flash, on the other hand, was sitting in the front row as he did in most of his classes. Barely managing to keep on top of the classes and hobbies he still held dear despite his bouts of fitful insomnia, he would be somewhat slow in his work. Finishing up as a few earlier finishers began to leave for the day, Flash would raise his heavy head to survey the room. Less so expecting anything, it was a habit of his now to constantly be on the lookout for anything out of the ordinary. Though he would not be seeing a shadow out of the corner of his eye that day, he would catch a small gathering of familiar faces. Burnett, their dormmate Henry Knight, and the prefect Jake Morris.

Curious as to what Burnett and Morris were holding, he'd gather his things into his bag and walk over, towering above the group and casting a shadow on their collections. He heard Henry ask his question, which would suffice to answer his own, but in the meantime would scan the open binders to see that it contained pages filled with cards, upon which cartoon animals were paired with numbers and descriptions. Quickly reading a few of them and scanning for the most pertinent information-- the description under the picture and the copyright at the bottom-- he came upon a quick conclusion.

"Pokemon? Is this a card game?" He'd not need to introduce himself in this group, so would merely speak his mind. Burnett's investment alone would be enough to peak Flash's curiosity. "I remember right as I was starting prep school... all the muggles were obsessed with this Pokemon game on their phone. Is this based on that?"
