Homework Lamentations
She couldn't understand it.
What was she doing wrong?
Lavinia had entered the library a bit later than usually, a bit after dinnertime, and had decided, why not just go over the latest homeworks?
Frowning, she looked over the rgaded stacks.... The potions homeworks seemed okay, the DADA homeworks... well.
and the History of Magic... She didn't understand it, they all were 'Exceeds Expectations' or above, and yet she felt... like it wasn't enough. It was better than an 'Acceptable', but for her, it felt like she had gotten a 'Poor', or worse.... but why?
"It must be something I'm missing...." she sighed, looking over the homeworks, trying to figure out what her issue was.... for the most part it seemed to be like it was just minor issues, like during a Potion homework, she'd missed one thing on a list of necessary components for a potion... or one part, where she forgot to give an example. But she was reacting as if she'd gotten the worst grade possible, and she didn'tunderstand it.... she was trying her best, and yeah, it was passable, but yet it felt wrong...
"It must be something I'm missing out...." she sighed, opening a textbook, she started trying her damndest to focus on another DADA homework, but yet... the previous grade made her feel like... what was the point of trying harder?
Sighing, she moved the DADA homework away, and went to pull one out for History of Magic.... but even that one, it felt like she was just wasting her time. She'd gotten an 'Exceeds Expectations', it wasn't a bad grade! It wasn't a sign of failure!
"I need to calm down...." she sighed, shaking her head, closing the book and rested her head on top of it. "I need to accept that anything below an 'Outstanding' isn't failing.... But how in the world do you do that?"
Sighing, she decided to just leave the homework alone for a moment, and read something light instead, looking through the books around her, she decided on a simple fun, adventure-filled tale. The boy in the book seemed rather clumsy, and had no worries, and it engrossed Lavinia. Moving her hair away so she could focus better, she read the book until the outside went dark. She only stopped when a bell tolled, warning her that curfew was about to start. Sighing, she moved up again, to gather her belongings, and return the book to its proper place.
"Maybe being a bit less worried would do me good..." she mused, hurrying out, before she could get lectured about staying out past curfew.

Life's no fun without a laugh!
