It was late afternoon when Simon Corbin and her mother walked into the Magical Menagerie. It smelled quite nice for a place full of animals, Simon had to admit. She wrapped her cloak around herself and smiled.
A week ago, she'd gotten a message from her mother that if she kept her grades up, she'd be able to get any pet that she'd wanted. And kept them up she did- she had straight O's other than in Astronomy, which she had an E. Ah well.
After that, her mom announced that she'd be able to get her very own pet! Simon was so excited and insisted that they go right now in case they ran out of pets.
Simon smiled to herself as she surveyed the pets available, and decided to approach the owls first. When she came, the owls looked at her, tilting their heads. Simon frowned, backing away from them. Hopefully their cages weren't unlocked. She had to admit, she was a bit afraid. She wasn't scared of the ones at Hogwarts, of course, but who knows if these things were tamed? She wasn't going to stick around and find out.
Simon left the owls alone and went to the frogs instead. Although cute, they were pretty slimy and Simon didn't like slimy. She turned around to see her mother behind her.
'You sure you want a frog?" Simon's mum asked her, putting a hand on her shoulder. "I never thought you'd like frogs. No offence."
Simon shook her head. "Nope, not for me. Also, don't even suggest owls. They'll kill me." she said, only half joking.
Her mum nodded. "I had a feeling... Hey, do you want a cat? Those are avail-"
Simon jumped up. "CAT?" Before her mum could say anything more, she ran around the store, looking for the cats.
And then she found them.
Perched up on some boxes were the cutest cats Simon had ever seen. She couldn't even pick! They were all so cute!! So Simon did the most logical thing she could do- she cuddled with all of them. She was in fluffy heaven!
When her mom entered the section where the cats were, she was greeted by Simon surrounded by cats, burying her face in a cat's fur. Daiyu shook her head and giggled. She wished that she had a camera to take a picture, but she didn't.
"Simon, please get off the floor. It may be dirty, so i don't recommend it." her mum reminded Simon, and she jumped up off the floor, cat in hands, eyes bright and sparkling. "This is that cat i want, Mum!" she squealed. "Can i get her? Please? Pleeeeaaase? She's so cute! I'll take such good care of her!"
Daiyu looked in her purse. "Well, i have the Galleons for it, and we do have the money, so... Sure!"
Simon jumped up and down in glee. "YES! Thank you, thank you! I love you so much! I'll name her Mei Chan, cause she's beautiful and her fur looks like snow. Char and all."
Her mum frowned. "Not fitting. Her fur looks nothing like snow."
The cat looked up at Daiyu and licked her paw, and even she had to admit that Mei Chan won her over. "Okay, Simon. Even though her name is questionable, we'll buy her right now. You have to clean her litter box, though."
Simon grinned happily. "Deal!" she said before hugging her again. "I'll train her to bite Bruno."
Her mother frowned at that.
