Sometimes We Don't Know Best

Logan was having a great summer. Between attending dance lessons and practicing for upcoming competitions she had been busy, but she enjoyed the time she was able to spend doing what she liked and not having to worry about what assignments were due when. The girl needed to remind herself to send an owl to her best friend to ask him how his summer was going. She felt bad about not having sent him anything yet, but she hoped he would understand she was busy. Maybe one day she would invite him to one of her recitals, he would probably love it.
Glancing around the dance studio, the Hufflepuff sighed as she leant down to finish tying her shoes. It was a very sunny day in Scotland for once and Logan was going to enjoy the walk to her aunt's shop so she could go home. Logan had spent multiple hours that week at the dance studio. Having decided not to attend the summer camp, the girl was able to participate in recitals and improve her dancing greatly.
"See you next week Logan, you have already improved greatly." Logan looked up at her dance instructor as she slowly stood from the bench along the far wall of the large room in front of the girl's locker room. A soft smile was present on the girl's face, her dance instructor had always been one of her favorite people. The woman, a young muggle-born witch in her thirties, had been close friends with her mother when they attended Hogwarts.
"Thank you Miss Alexandra." Logan thanked the woman as she grabbed her bag from the bench and took a deep breath, preparing to leave the quiet studio and enter the rest of muggle Perth Scotland. The Hufflepuff understood a good bit about muggle technology, having grown up around it, but there was always something about it that had interested Logan to no end. Maybe it was the fact they were able to do so many things without even having magic to help them.
Waving good bye to the dance instructor, Logan stepped out of the mirrored studio and out into the bright sun. A grin was present on the girl's face as she felt the warmth of the sun on her arms and shoulders. The girl was wearing a soft blue tank top along with a black pair of leggings and sneakers. It was one of her normal outfits to wear to dance, but there was something nostalgic about walking out of that building after dance when her mother was one of the people to get her into dance in the first place.
"Good afternoon Mrs. Bellwood," Logan called out as she stepped into a small bakery on her way to her aunt's boutique. The girl had stopped at this small bakery enough times over the years that the older couple that owned the place knew her by name. Logan had first stopped in when she was nine, right after her mother passed. It was not long until it was a weekly occurrence that she stopped by and picked up a few cookies, cupcakes, or even muffins to take home for herself and her brothers. The Bellwood's were a nice muggle couple who assumed the girl attended a boarding school most of the year, which was not a complete lie.
Looking up, the elderly lady grinned and waved the young girl over to the counter. "Oh Logan dearie. It is so nice of you to stop by again. Abe just took a batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies out of the oven." Logan could not help the grin that formed on her face at the mention of fresh cookies. It was probably a good thing she had remembered to get some muggle money from her aunt on the way to dance that morning.
Mr. Bellwood made his way out of the kitchen of the bakery, a dozen cookies already packaged after hearing his wife great the young girl. The Hufflepuff girl shook her head with a smile as she carefully counted the money needed for the cookies. One thing Logan would never get used to was muggle money. There were so many different things to chose from and you needed to make sure you grabbed the correct ones. "Here you go, thank you Mr. and Mrs. Bellwood." Logan took the bundle of cookies from the couple as they waved to the girl and called out to the girl as she left.
Now Logan could actually head to her aunt's shop to get home. The small boutique was only a few blocks from the dance studio, so it was no more than a ten minute walk back to her aunt's. Slowly, the girl observed the people around her as she walked. They were all so different than the people she was used to being around, yet so similar at the same time. Stopping to cross the street, Logan happened to glance over at the café on the other side and slightly froze when she recognized the man sitting in front. Making sure it was safe to go, the girl quickly made her way across and was easily able to confirm who the man was.
"Dad?" she called out as a question as she was greatly confused as why her father was sitting at a café, in the middle of the day, kissing a woman that Logan had never seen in her wife. The girl was not surprised that the man pulled away from the woman quite quickly, looking over at his daughter with a surprised look on his face.
Quickly, Adam Baird stood from his seat and started to make his way towards his daughter, only for her to flinch away slightly. "Adam, who is this?" the woman questioned as she stood and made her way beside Logan's father. Adam glanced over at the woman with a sigh and looked back at his daughter.
"Elizabeth, this is my daughter Logan. Logan this is my girlfriend, Elizabeth." Logan did not stick around long, taking off down the sidewalk with her father calling after her. He did not follow immediately though, instead paying for everything he had purchased at the café and kissed his girlfriend goodbye.
Hannah Baird seemed rather startled when her niece threw open the door to the boutique and did not even bother to say hello. In fact, the girl did not even stop her stride as she rushed into the back room and into the large fireplace used to move from place to place using floo. "Baird Manor," she called out as she immediately disappeared from the boutique.

When Adam Baird finally found his daughter, she was locked in her room and would not open the door for him. "Logan, open to door. Common, do not be like this and just let me talk." The girl did not open the door, instead choosing to sit against the girl on her side.
"You can talk from there." She called out to the man as he grew frustrated with the girl. He leant against the door with a frustrated sigh, which did not surprise the girl at all, he was not the most patient of people.
"What has caused you to be so frustrated Logan?" the man questioned the girl as Logan lay her head against the door. "Is it because I am dating someone, because I am allowed to be happy." The last sentence angered the girl greatly as she was quickly standing and throwing the door open, nearly causing her father to fall into the room.
Looking down at his daughter, Adam Baird had a look of frustration on his face. He was faced with a very angry daughter, well aware there was going to be yelling. "Do you really think I do not want you to be happy? Do you think so little of me that you do not even want to introduce me to a new woman in your life? She did not even know about me! How long have you been dating this woman if you have not even told her about me, let alone told me about her." At this point Logan's voice was raised and even the twins had crept up the stairs to see what had angered the girl to near screaming.
Adam Baird glared down at the girl. "You do not need to know everything about my life Logan. I may be your father, but I do not have to tell you everything. Elizabeth and I have been dating for almost a year, now you need to stop it with this attitude."
Logan did not even give the man a chance to talk anymore as she turned and stalked back into her room, beginning to throw random clothing items into her trunk. With an angry huff, her father walked in behind her as the sound of the boys footsteps could be heard racing down the stairs. "What are you doing?" he questioned the girl angrily.
Slamming the trunk shut, Logan started to pull the object out of the room. She had made it to the first floor before her father finally stopped her and she snapped at the man again. "I am going to see grandfather!" she yelled out in frustration as the twins quickly came racing down the steps with small bags in their hands, Sherlock tucked into the arms of Rorik. "The boys are coming with me," Logan had not even told the boys she was leaving, but they knew each other well enough that they were able to tell when the others needed to leave for a bit to see their grandparents and cool off. "How about you think about the fact you did not even bother to tell your girlfriend that you have a daughter, did you just think it would never be an issue?"
Adam Baird did not bother to follow his children as they quickly left the manor. What Logan did not see was the man collapse onto the couch in the entrance of the large home and looked up at the portrait of himself and his deceased wife. "What do I need to do Olivia?" he questioned, a tear running down his face. "She reminds me of you more everyday and I do not think I can do this on my own anymore."
