Aaron had been at the Training Pitch for about twenty minutes now doing warmups. He had jogged the length of the field, done some stretches, done a fast couple of laps on his broom, and even used it as a pull-up bar. He was wearing his normal workout clothes of sweatpants and a plain white T-shirt, so his developing muscles were a little more evident in those pull ups. The fourteen-year-old was clearly an athlete, in discipline and build. He had been in taekwondo since he was young, and last year he had also been on the Quidditch team. Despite not being enrolled in a sport this year, the Hufflepuff had been staying active and developed a hobby of freerunning. He continued to exercise and eat right, meaning he was getting stronger and taller and he could feel those changes fueling him.Tuesday | 22 February 2022 | close to sunset
After his warm ups that evening, Aaron felt ready for the big stuff. He remounted his Moontrimmer and started going higher and higher in the air. Time to practice some dives. He had never had to do much high-speed diving when he was on the Quidditch team last year - after all, he had been a chaser not a seeker. There was one time that he'd been on save duty and had to maneuver pretty quickly, but diving had never been a skill he practiced a lot. Until now.
In addition to his new parkour hobby, Aaron had decided to bring his flying into the mix. The last couple of months he had been practicing combining the two hobbies, and found that doing tricks on his broom was really exhilarating. Diving, looping, surfing and jumping off were a few things he had been practicing. But there were still so many unexplored ideas he had, and it excited him just thinking about it.
When he reached a height that felt a little more than normal, Aaron pointed his Moontrimmer towards the ground and bolted. He put every ounce of speed and athleticism into this dive, heading straight for the ground of the pitch. The rush of the wind in his face egged him on to go faster, even as the ground got closer and closer. At the last possible moment, Aaron pulled out of the dive and ended up riding parallel to the ground. He was so close to it, that if he wasn't leaning forward on the broom in an aerodynamic manner, he could've touched it. He was internally critiquing his form, because the pull up from the dive wasn't as smooth as he wanted, but his thoughts quickly turned to his next move.
The boy pulled up on his broom and launched into a couple of consecutive loop-de-loop moves, going upside down and forming a coil as he went. To prevent himself getting too dizzy, he limited himself to just a couple of them, then ended up in the middle of the training pitch. He stopped mid-air, and tried to make the transition into his next move seamless, but this was admittedly one of the more nerve-wracking ones. He scooted to the back of his broom and maneuvered so his legs were in front of him and his feet landed on the handle. Carefully, but trying to be a bit quicker than normal, he maneuvered to his feet. It was an awkward transition still, since he had not perfected it yet, but eventually he was actually standing on the broom in a surfstyle manner. Extending his arms to either side of himself for balance, he began to direct the broom forward and slowly got faster and faster. He did a lap around the pitch in this surfstyle manner, waving at the imaginary crowd, and only stopped when he was back at the center of the pitch.
Feeling rather triumphant and maybe a little too proud of himself, Aaron had a huge grin on his face as he began to lower to the ground. He continued to stand on the broom as it lowered, using its descent as further practice on keeping balanced. It was only once he hopped off the broom and onto the ground that he realized there was someone there - an unfamiliar girl that must have been watching him. How long had she been standing there? Aaron adjusted the beanie that was on his head, his grin becoming a bit more neutral at the realization of an unexpected audience. How bad had that looked to her?

Aaron has a Calming Presence.Your presence simply puts others at ease, if it is your carefree personality or the trust others have in you, the result is still the same. With you there, perhaps through your encouragement, your allies are able to better focus.

Juniper walked down to the grounds with her broom in one hand and her kit in her other hand. Her broom was her pride and joy, the most beautiful gift she had gotten. As a quidditch player, she valued the state of her broom like she valued the well-being of her pet. And it was about time her broom got some cleaning. She sat on the ground and opened the kit with her broom on her lap and began to clean it. She hummed a tune to herself under her breath as she focused on the broom before. She thought back to her first practice where she had been a bit sloppy, and she never really had a chance to play in the game. However, she learned alot by simply watching her teammates play. That's thing. She liked being with the older students on her team because she could learn from them. Even if she couldn't do what they did, she still was shell shocked.
A commotion in the corner of her eye urged her to look up to spot a figure in the sky. It took her a moment to realize it was someone on a broom! She quickly closed her kit and grabbed her broom, darting to the pitch. She reached there, breathless as she watched in awe. THe boy was spinning, twirling, surfing in air on a broom! The stunts were dangerous and risky but so epic. She was at a loss for words. She didn't speak, she let him finish as she didn't take her eyes off him. He was so cool, Juni decided right away. This boy was her idol. For real, everything he was doing-
The boy finished and came down. and Juni clapped loudly and cheered. "HOLY MOLY! You're AMAZING!" She set her broom down and walked up to him. "I've never seen anything that cool before, seriously- wow! How long have you been doing things like that? That's just- you're-" She shook her head and felt the need to introduce herself. "I'm Juniper Kelly, what's your name?"

Aaron hadn't been expecting such an outburst of excitement from the short, red-headed girl. She was cheering for him, and the Hufflepuff felt a sheepish grin tug at his lips. It had been a pretty good practice session so far, and he was pretty proud of his progress. He grabbed his broom and maneuvered the handle to rest over his shoulder, and he shifted his weight to the other foot as he stood in front of her.
"Thank you!" he said, in reply to her calling him amazing. And he could tell just from the excited look in her eyes that she was being genuine. Her next few questions were rapid-fired and didn't allow him to answer before she was introducing herself. Juniper Kelly. "I'm Aaron- Jones," adding the last name to his introduction still felt weird, but a lot of people here at Hogwarts did it. He was slowly growing used to it. "I've been flying since first year - I'm a third year now, for reference - but I've only been doing these tricks for a few months. All the progress I've made is from practicing nearly every day," he shared, his brown eyes twinkling in excitement at having someone so engrossed in what he was saying.
Aaron actually had not shown off his trick riding to anyone yet. Even though he had mentioned it to several friends and they all were supportive of the idea and cheered him on, none of them had actually seen him in action (though he had invited Aly to fly together recently, so that might happen soon). The third year was planning to put on a proper performance for his friends when he was feeling more confident and had more tricks up his sleeve. For now, though, he continued to practice on his own almost daily, and that is what Juniper had stumbled on.
"Are you on one of the broom sport teams?" he asked, gesturing to the broom she had left on the ground behind her. He used to know the names and faces of every Quidditch player at Hogwarts - back when he had been on the Hufflepuff team last year. But since leaving the team, he had not made much of an effort to keep up with the rosters. Especially anyone who was not in his own year.

Juniper opened her mouth in utter disbelief, this boy had only been doing these tricks for a few months? A few months. Shock mixed with amazement and for a moment she couldn't find her words. Instead she showed her amazement and wonder by waving her hands in an excited motion and bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet. Finally she found her words and her excitement burst out before she could stop. "You be only been doing it for a few months? Seriously?! That's the craziest thing I've ever heard because those tricks were the coolest things I've seen since chocolate frogs and chocolate frogs are pretty hecking awesome and so are you because-" She inhaled sharply and pulled a strand of hair behind her ear. "-wow. That was super wow. Like, honestly."
Aaron mentioned that he'd gotten that good by practicing ever day, and right then she accepted that she would never get to do what he did. Despite her strong love and dedication towards quidditch, she could never spend her days by practicing daily. Hogwarts had too much to explore, too much to do. Friends were always up to things, pets always wanted to play, crushes always wanted to chat (*cough* Draven *cough*) or homework was always looming near the due date. She wasn't upset nor disappointed, in fact she was more interested in Aaron's tricks.
Because. Wow. She was so interested in him and his stunts that she almost missed his question. She had to do a mental backtrack and focus on what he had asked, gazing to where he pointed. Pride swelled in her voice as she played eyes on her broom, nodding to confirm his question. "Yes! I'm a second string keeper for the Ravenclaw quidditch team. " She let herself feel proud for a moment before once again directing her full attention to Aaron. "And you? Are you on any sports teams?" She couldn't recall hearing his name before now so she assumed he wasn't.
@Aaron Jones it's currently 3 am woohoo so tell me if I messed up somewhere

"Thanks, really," Aaron said again, as Juniper showered more compliments. His face was a little warm and he tugged on his beanie to distract from that, making a show of fixing his hair. His broom was still being held over his shoulder with his free hand. Juniper's words meant a lot - especially when coming from someone who didn't know him, compliments like these that recognized all his hard work really boosted his confidence and his energy.
"Oh, that's awesome! Then you must know Aly, the first-string keeper? She's a friend of mine," Aaron said, his brown eyes lighting up at the chance to bring up the other Ravenclaw keeper. They had only just started hanging out and becoming friends, but she was the immediate person who came to mind when Juniper mentioned Ravenclaw quidditch team and keeper. "Your Co-Captain Syl is a friend of mine as well," he added, thinking of the other Ravenclaw quidditch players he knew. Not many, but a couple. "Quidditch is great, and I hear your team has been doing really well this season, so keep up the good work!" he said with a genuine smile. Sure, he hadn't gone to watch any of the Quidditch games this year, but he definitely heard about the rankings this year.
When she turned the question on him, asking if he was on a sports team, it was pretty clear she hadn't heard of him before. Which made sense. "I used to be a Hufflepuff Co-Captain and Chaser last year, but no, I'm not in any sports this year," he explained to the younger girl. While he had come to terms with his decision to quit Quidditch a few months ago, he still wasn't big on talking about it if unprompted, so he didn't get into the reasoning why. "I'm having a lot of fun doing this, though," he said, gesturing with his broom back to the pitch where he had been practicing.
