Cauldron Conversations PV

Seperating themselves from the dark embrace of night, a pair of black cloaked figures entered the Leaky Cauldron. They appeared to be in a loud debate, each of them making grand gestures as they walked past several crowded tables. A few heads turned to see what the fuss was all about before one of their buddies eventually pulled their attention back to their game of cards. "I still think we are changing our narrative too much to accommodate the others." The first pointed out as he took a seat at a corner table. "What was wrong with the old initials? They got the point across!" The man hissed back at the other. He was a tall and slender man, with a shimmer of glasses twinkling from under his hood. From the way his arms cleaved through the air with energy, it was clear he was of a younger generation.

"Calm yourself. This fight is larger than any of us. If we do not share these alliances, we'll never win. The point would be made in vain." The second gentleman responded with a much calmer demeanour. From his smooth, protruding chin and the way the shadows of his hood framed his obscured cheekbones, it was clear this was a handsome young man. He was shorter than the first, however, and his shoulders were broader, hinting at muscles hidden underneath.

After some thought, the pair continued their conversation. "The people know us by S.C.A.R. now." The first gentleman defended. "Changing our name may just overcomplicate things for some. No one cares about such details, why do they matter anyway?" Number two raised his hand and looked around for a bit. His twinkling eyes searched the room for any attentive patrons around. After feeling relatively safe, in the capacity of what a tavern could provide, he leaned in closer. "Because, Andreas, this never only concerned us squibs. If we vouch to fight for equality, then all factions should be subjected to it. We've seen the jealousy that sprouted after the house-elves received more rights, so it needs to be everyone or no one." He sliced the air with both arms going wide as a statement. "S.C.A.R.A.B. is the way forward."

Remembering he was facing his friend, rather than a foe, the second gentleman quickly added: "Besides, it gives us a nice logo…" This had the two gentlemen chuckle at one another. Their shared laughter mingled with the louder voices of the surrounding patrons. Eventually, Andreas nodded at his companion. "Very well, Carnelian. Do not get me wrong, I feel for our other friends. But I would just hate for us squibs to be sidelined in doing others a favour. We can not lose our shot, is all I'm saying." There was desperation in Andreas' voice. Which Carnelian sought to root out by placing a hand on his friend's shoulder. "We won't." He said reassuringly.

Some stories should never be told...
