Morning Rays of Light open

It was a Saturday, at about 7:20. The castle seemed to be asleep. Apparently, not another soul was up, even the ghosts seemed dormant. Most weren't even awake yet, enjoying a well deserved lie-in. Not Rayne. Rayne was up, glasses slightly wonky, their coat thrown over their shoulders. They had risen before the sun and crept through the castle. Though they knew they were allowed up, they hadn't wanted to disturb any of the people still in the land of dreams.

Rayne strode confidently across the grounds as fractions of light begun to reach up the sky. They found a pleasant spot with moss and grass and they lowered themselves to the ground, a bitter blade of wind slashing across their face. It was a mild day for this time of year, except for the occasional gusts of icy wind. Other that that, it was not too cold, which was nice.

The sun finally awoke, and started crawling placidly up the sky. Streaks of peach and orange and rose slipped through the sky and into the wispy, drifting clouds. Below, in the great lake, light reflections danced invitingly across the surface. The water was still and clear, looking more like glass. How Rayne longed to dive in, move their body through the water. It would be divine. Of course, this would be a foolish idea, as they had no change of clothes or towel. Even if they did, the water would be freezing cold.

Instead, they settled for just watching the sun as it rose.
