Cold and Confused pv Roselia Campbell

─────Rose had been exploring. It was extremely cold, but they were dressed extremely comfortably, and warmly. Classes were over that day, and they were exploring. They were one of the only people out.
Rose always had a book with them. Everywhere they go. They decided to take a break from walking, as their feet hurt. They sat under a shaded tree on a bench.
It was around 17:00, and they wanted to do some silent reading. They were reading "Triwizard Tragedies" a book written by the Ministry of Magic Archives. It was extremely interesting. Rose had found the book in the Hogwarts library yesterday. "Let's see, where was I?" "Ah yes, Page 73"

They started reading and kept reading until the book was finished. It was about 19:30 and then they saw someone. They put their book in their inside pocket, and then followed the person. They were shivering and looked extremely cold. The person looked like they were looking for something. Rose wanted to help but wasn't a big talker. They kept trying to remember their brother's words "Come on, stop being such a hermit kid." Words so inspirational, yet so rude. Rose walked up to the person "Um, hey. You looking for something." The person jumped, still shivering "Oh, um, you look pretty cold too- you um- want my jacket?"

Pro tip: don't go into the freezing cold with a thin turtleneck and trousers. Edme quite liked her outfit of the day, a beige turtleneck sweater and plaid trousers with their trademark boots. It was stylish, but it wasn't warm. It wasn't even lukewarm. It was the kind that needed to find warmth to be warm, like the sun. Unfortunately, the sun was hidden behind a large amount of clouds.

Another person was out there, they had been reading for the time that Edme had been searching for. They had shaggy blonde hair and quite pretty eyes, at least from what Edme could see in the gray light. They had been there quite a bit, longer than Edme had been searching. They had begun to follow the Ravenclaw, though Edme decided to pretend not to notice. That was until they greeted Edme and offered up there coat.

"Oh- well, yes, I am." she shrugged, rubbing the back of their neck awkwardly, "I lost a book of mine. Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. I was reading- studying for class." as they offered their coat, Edme was taken aback a bit. "Are you sure? You really don't have to, I'm not that cold, just a little chilled." she waved her hands around frantically, trying to make a point. In all honesty, they were freezing.

Author's Note - Sorry the reply was really late! I was studying for an important quiz and was quite busy, and also had a bit of writer's block.

When Rose walked up to the person, they didn't know what to expect. Talking most certainly wasn't a specialty of theirs, and they tended to stutter a lot around new people. Instead of talking, they preferred reading. It was an escape from reality, and they liked that. It only takes seconds to think about what you're going to say or do, but for Rose, it'll take a whole minute. The one thing about Rose is that they can hide it easily. Earlier Rose had picked up a book, it was the same book the mysterious person was looking for. Obviously Rose didn't know who it belonged too, but they also didn't want to admit they took it. The person looked like they were frustrated, and had been looking for a while, so Rose felt really bad.
Rose finally plucked up the courage to say
"Here, you look really cold." Rose put the jacket over their shoulders. The instant relief on their face was obvious. The coat was fuzzy, cozy, and extremely long.
"So, um what's your name anyway?"

They seemed nervous, hesitant and certainly not with the courage of a lion. Edme could respect it considering she was about the same.

It was a bit awkward, both of them hesitant to say anything as the tension in the air grew. It seemed their was more in the wind than just cold and bitter chill. Was it getting colder? It was certainly getting colder. Maybe. Maybe not? No, it was the same, just nerves.

The jacket was a relief and a half as it was placed on Edme's shoulders, and she left out a quiet sigh as they pulled it over farther. "Are you sure you're alright? Without this, I mean." she didn't want to be too much of a bother. "I don't want to... I don't know, take it from you. If you're cold, I guess. I don't know."

The search seemed awfully far off, though they still subtly scanned the area surrounding the fountain for any sign of the bright red cover. "Oh, it's Edme." A name with no nickname, expect for Parker for whatever reason, courtesy of Maggie Hawkins. "And you are?" Edme had probably seen this person around, though any recollection of their face was vivid and unclear. Where had she seen them? Was i potions?

Author's Note (Again) - Sorry for the delay, writers block again. It always takes me a while to write due to how distracted I get lol. Anyways, sorry for the wait :E

Edme became paler and paler by the second, Rose was wearing sweats, which were extremely warm, to be honest, they didn't even need their coat. Although it was cold and wet, it didn't really bother them "Keep it, it's alright. You look extremely pale, maybe you should head inside"

Rose walked with them to the nearest corridor "My name's Roselia by the way. Roselia Campbell. If you'd like you can call me Rose, I don't mind my real name though, just my last name I don't like." In primary school, Rose's last name was the name of someone's uncle who was fat and drunk. It made Rose cry when people made fun of her last name.

Rose forgot about the book they had picked up earlier, but they just remembered, "I have an extra copy, you know. I found it earlier, it's in my dorm, sorry if it was yours. I would have saved you some trouble." They looked relieved and annoyed at the same time, my nerves kicked in again, "I can, um, go get it if you'd like?"

Edme didn't didn't need to be a genius to see that the other was clearly very aware of how freezing the young Ravenclaw was, and that the jacket was far more than she would let on.

"Well, I still have the book..." Edme trailed off, the warmth of the indoors too tantalizing to deny. "If you insist."

As warmth of the corridor flooded her cheeks, the red nosed Ravenclaw looked to the other gladly, thoughts less clouded now that they were back to heat. An introduction was in order for the other, and supplied quickly.

"Rose, then." Edme smiled, stepping through the hall slowly, "You can call me whatever. Edme, Ed, May, Parker, the whole deal." she waved their arms around for emphasize, the jacket still snug on her shoulders. Even in the warm of Hogwarts, cold could creep in through any crevice.

The thoughts of the book had begun to fade before it was brought up again, and in quite a nervous manner at that. So this was the culprit? Plot twist of the century. "Oh, that's..." the Ravenclaw clenched their teeth, trying to keep polite in a time of such revelation, "Fine. That's fine. Thank you for telling me." she was still relieved at the news, even if it was a bit angering.

Author's Note - Been offline for a while, studying for an exam (physics, hope you understand my pain) I'll be like this for a while until the next upcoming break where I will be writing like crazy!

Rose directed Edme to a warm corridor, one where Edme could wait. They walked side by side, and talked, "I'm from Ireland, I moved to a small town from Dublin. I'm a pure-blood line, and I have to keep it, unfortunately. I live with my father and my brother, my brother is in his last year. I'm a Hufflepuff by the way, a proud badger. My whole family was in Hufflepuff. Even my mother, who lives in the states. Sorry if I talk too much, what about you?"

They continued to walk, the wind breezing by. Rose didn't seem too cold, though it was chilly.

They reached the warmer corridor, closest to the badger's den. "Wait here. If you want you can read this in the meantime." Rose opened their tote bag up and handed Edme a book. "The Six Senses", "It's really interesting, it's a muggle book and their concept of magic is funny. Magical powers, the elements. They seriously didn't even include wands."

Rose walked to the common room. Actually, she ran. In minutes she was back with Edme's book. "Here you go," Rose said, panting like a dog who just went on a nice long sunny walk. Edme set the book down. They seemed like they enjoyed it. They traded books and Rose said, "Come with me, I have something to show you"

The walk through the corridor was much more peaceful than the breezy chill of the courtyard, and as Roselia guided her through the halls they began to speak about some of their past.

"Oh, Ireland." Edme nodded, looking at the ground to watch the pattern of their footsteps. "I'm from Scotland. A half-blood, although I don't have much of a recollection of my parents. I'm a Ravenclaw."

As they took a step into the warmer corridor, Rose hurried into through the circular door that lead to the Hufflepuff commons, but not before handing Edme a books titled "The Six Senses" It looked interesting enough, so Edme began to flip through a few of the pages.

The Ravenclaw would admit it was a bit comical to find how muggles liked to perceive magic, but with how they had lived life with wizard foster homes that preferred to muggle practices and lifestyles, it was easy to feel a bit nostalgic skimming through the pages. Back when magic hadn't really mattered to Edme, just life and living.

Rose returned shortly with the lost book, the two exchanging literature quickly. Rose was quick to motion Edme to follow them quickly, asking her to follow them somewhere. Wherever that may be, Edme nodded shortly.

"Okay."
