Loki's child
Hunter had entered the small store with great anticipation. His whole life he had probrably spent more time with animals than actual people. He never was allowed to own one in fear that it would ruin the house, or somehow end up eating the bat wings and murtlap tentacles in his father's office. His parents luckily understood their son would need an animal companion to get through his potential studious years at hogwarts. Thus, they spoiled him with enough galleons for almost every creature in the shop.
Very few looked familiar, and Hunter was surprised by the so many different versions that an animal could be. About 9 different owl species and 11 different cats based on what he saw.
If anything, he spent majority of his time shopping in Diagon's Alley within this shop. The decision was bound to be final, and the choices were excellent in everyway possible. He continued to look through, till he eventually found exactly what he liked.
A tiny lizard coiled up in a ring shape with its mouth in its tail. Rather odd and silly, but Hunter loved it for another reason. It reminded him of the Norse mythological creature known as Jörmungandr, the world serpent. Supposedly a giant snake that lived within the ocean, so large it circled the entire Earth. A child of the trickster god, Loki. The symbol for Jörmungandr was sometimes a ring shaped serpent eating its own tail. The lizard itself wasn't large at all, and certainly didn't seem to be ready to fight the norse god Thor. It made Hunter chuckle, and when his parents saw him focusing on the small lizard they made comments that they recall seeing them back in Africa.
Hunter thought about it a bit longer, he wanted a pet that could be by his side almost all the time. One he could secretly feed in the Great hall, and who would be by his side no matter where he studied. He was rather energetic back at home, but he was unsure if he'd be able to keep his pet entertained 24/7. The tiny lizard seemed like the best option.
He looked over towards the shopkeepers, and requested if he could hold it. Mr and Mrs. Witticker seemed to have enjoyed the look and amusement the boy had on his face. Mr.Witticker with his large figure to where Hunter believed he may have been part-giant walked over to the boy. He gently cradeled the tiny lizard who appeared to refuse to take its tail out of its mouth. He carefully placed it in Hunter's hand. Even though it was a cold-blooded reptile, it felt warm to the touch like a tiny drop of sunlight. The lizard removed its tail from its mouth, and the moment it was placed in Hunters hand it began to act oddly again. It's claws and head began to rub against his hand... was it trying to burrow? It slightly tickled, and made Hunter laugh a bit. It was then he knew, that he found his new best friend. "I'll take this one sir," he said while looking up towards the smiling Mr.Witticker.
Since the lizard was so odd and slightly like and unlike Jörmungandr, he decided to name them "Fenrir" another child of Loki and the younger brother of Jörmungandr. It was slightly odd and silly since Fenrir was a wolf in norse mythology, but Hunter liked the irony since the lizard was already rather odd.
