Backdated to a week before 3rd year started

A simple and relaxing day in Diagon Ally took an interesting turn when Alexis felt a gravitational pull towards the one and only Magical Menagerie. She stood motionlessly, staring at the clear window of the shop. In a daze, her hand reached to open the door before she can think clearly as to why she would need to step into this shop. She snapped out of her trance as the soft smell of sugar cookies hits her nose and her eyes was met with a pair of warm eyes that belongs to a lady in a nice floral dress.

“Well hello darling, I’m Anita Witticker. Welcome to the Magical Menagerie, what can I do for you today?” The lady, Mrs. Witticker, spoke with a friendly smile.

“I mean- Hello Mrs. Witticker.” Surprised, The girl almost forgot to greet the Lady back. “This is a lovely shop.”

“Hoho! Such a well mannered child!” She laughed a little before she reached for a small tray full of different kinds of sugar cookies and handed it to the girl. “Here! Have a cookie! or more, if you want.”

“Thank you.” Alexis accepted it with a soft smile before she picked one of the cookies up to her mouth. “Oh! This is delightful, Madame.”

“Thank you dear. Now are you gonna tell me why you’re here?”

“Honestly, I’m not so sure myself…” Her eyes wandered around the shop as she tries to find an answer for the lady and for herself.

“That is perfectly fine. How about I show you around? Come.” The lady ushered her towards one of the many cages in the shop. “Do you like owls? They’re quite popular.”

Alexis glanced the the different coloured owls in their respective cages. “What’s that one?” She pointed to a particular tiny little owl.

“Oh! That’s an Eastern Screech Owl, they’re very small and very adaptive.” Mrs. Whitticker said. “Do you like it?”

“I’m not sure. It’s looks cute. But…” Alexis trailed off in an unsure voice, she couldn’t pinpoint why she didn’t feel the connection, whatever that connection was.

“We wouldn’t want that now, would we? These animals will be with you for a long time.” She gestured Alexis to look at some other cages. “Here we also have cats, some rats, frogs, lizards, spiders, bunnies, ferrets, fish, we even have pigmy puffs! What kind of animals do you prefer, dear?”

“Something small?” She paused to think. “And fluffy?”

“In that case, you should take a look at the bunnies and the pigmy puffs, no? See how you like them.” The lady led her the the animals’ cages “Have a look.”

Alexis peered into the the cages, the colourful pigmy puffs rolling around and making some squeaky noises, they are very adorable. She turned her head away to look at the bunnies, they came in many colours, though none as vivid and bright as the pigmy puffs, one caught her eyes. The bunnies was tiny, especially from the place she was standing. It has short dense grey fur with big round eyes, just sitting alone and not moving. “Excuse me, Madame.What is that bunny? The grey one.”

Mrs. Whitticker turned to the direction that the girl was pointing at. “Oh that’s a Mist Hopper. Smallest we got. She’s only four months old.” She said, smiling and already walking to pick up the cage. She has worked here long enough to recognise the look on Alexis’s face, the girl has made her decision. “Would you like to take her home with you?”

“Yes. Yes, I would like to purchase her, please.” Alexis locked her eyes on the bunny as Mrs. Witticker picks the cage up.

“I want to call her Misty.” She whispered.
