All the Legends are Untrue To Flash Reopened

When Opeila had left for winter break, she had not expected to send a letter to Flash so short before going back to school, but the young girl felt as if she was bursting with frustration that she needed to write off her chest. Her life had turned upside down within only few days and everything, really everything had changed. Opeila had first felt relieved, for a whole 15 hours, until the Virtanens had opened up about her future perspectives. She had hated it, tried to bargain and even to blackmail to get out of it, but her protest had brought her nothing other than an evening banned to her room.

Opeila had pulled herself together for the event short after her prophecy, but when she heard the other news, she had pulled away. Closed herself to her guardians, even to Lysander, who had not helped her but sided with his parents. She had never felt so alone before. Not even when she had thought that there was a man after her who wanted her dead, there had always been people keeping her safe, hiding her and providing shelter. Now she felt like a prisoner, who had to face constant persuasion that her cell was actually a door to paradise. The worst was that she slowly began to believe that she was being silly and ungrateful too.

Dear Flash,

happy new year! I just realized that I have no idea whether you are at home or at Hogwarts, but I guess a response wouldn't reach me before we see each other anyway. I already feel sorry for making this poor bird fly across countries again. It must hate me.
I hope your winter break has been enjoyable so far and that it took some stress off your shoulders- I feel like we all needed it.

For me, I guess I will develop some sort of holiday-phobia if all of my holidays will go like this. A few days ago, I had a prophecy and I can't if I- Flash, I had it all wrong, we all did. The pureblood man, my mother's first husband, he didn't know. He was never after me, I was hiding from a shadow, as did my mother and my grandmother. They hid from a shadow and died for it. Apparently everything that had happened is pointless after all.
One would think that this sets me free, but it does not. They wouldn't let me go to look for my dad, instead they made me dress up for some silly new year's event. Instead of letting me go, they want to make me the heir to my mother's bloodline and now I am... going to be promised. To some American kid around my age that I don't even know, to marry him when we are both of age.
I don't know what to do anymore, I feel so lost- they are all against me now, even my stepbrother Lysander. I was so sure he would help me but he didn't.
This isn't right, is it? People keep talking to me and I feel like I am losing my mind here, not even starting about my sense of right and wrong. I am treated like a naughty, ungrateful kid and I can't wait to come back to Hogwarts to distance myself from all this.
I guess one good thing is that I don't need to hide any longer and can finally speak to people- I wish I could speak with Professor Vernatis, honestly.
This may sound odd, but- please reserve me a hug for when I return, I miss you.
I'm sorry for only sending so bad news.

Kind reg
See you soon
Lots of Love,

Never had she missed her closest friend more than now and somewhere mid-writing, Opeila's tears had started to flow, one after the other in a never ending stream. Her writing had become more emotional towards the end and she wondered if she would end up regretting what she had written, be embarrassed for it. Since the fall ball, she felt strange whenever she thought about Flash and even more so since she heard her guardians talk about her future betrothal.

Perhaps it was selfish of her to send the letter away at all, but her sense of judgement left her hanging here now. She knew that Flash wanted to know and help, always, but she couldn't help wondering if he wasn't fighting his own battle, all by himself. It did sound like something her housemate would do and it was something Opeila knew she wasn't strong enough for. She barely managed to handle her own problems alone.

And yet she sent the owl away before regret, guilt or insecurity could stop her, sure that there would be no answer coming. She would see her friend in two days at school again.
OOC: Yeah, you don't need to respond if you don't want to, it's very close to the end of the break ;)
