The train whistle brought Camilia to the reality of leaving her old life behind. Startled by her brother clinging to her leg. Tears falling down his face as he looked up to Camilia with those soft chocolate brown eyes. Camilia finally snapped she had been trying to remain calm, cool, and collected. Yet she failed her emotions flooded out of her as she gripped her little brother in an embrace.
Her voice was shaking slightly as she tried to reassure her brother everything was going to be fine, but even as she talked to her little brother she could feel her eyes starting to water. It clicked that separation from her family in long extended time period would be new to her. Something she hadn't realized would ever happen to her, sure she had seen her older siblings leave the household when they went to school. Yet it hit her differently, family had been the only thing she had known. Her siblings had been some of her best friends, and now leaving her little brother all alone seemed wrong. She looked up to her mother looking for reassurance, however her mother seemed distracted she was gazing at something or someone that Camilia couldn't see through the smoke. She pulled gently on the bottom of her mother's robes tears starting to roll down her cheeks."It will be alright, I won't be gone that long mi hermano. Do calm down you are making your older sister cry. It will go by in a flash, and when I get back you won't even realize I was gone! Alright? So stop your spluttering and give me a proper farewell."
Mrs. Torres pulled Camilia to her feet and smoothed out her robes wrinkles and took a handkerchief and wiped the tears off Camilia's cheeks. She took a look at her youngest daughter and sighed. This wasn't the time for her daughter to get all flustered and worried. Plenty of kids would be going to school. Though this would be different for Camilia, she had just moved to a new strange country going to a school that only one of her siblings had gone to prior. Camilia needed to pull herself together or she would taint the reputation of the Torres family. Mrs. Torres took a deep breath hugged Camilia and handed her the trunk."What is it mi amor? This is what we have wanted for you since you were born. It is your time to do something extraordinary in this new life you will lead. There is no time for tears, you must be strong and show these English wizards and witches what you can do. You will make your family proud, like you sisters and brother have done. So chin up, wipe those tears off, I will not have these people see my daughter looking like a wreck, and do let go of your brother he is getting tears all over your new robes!"
Camila tried to keep her emotions in and looked around and into the train. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She gave her little brother a small side hug and looked up at her mother."It is time Camilia. Now remember the rules I taught to you about this country. If you need anything write me a letter. Do you remember how to address the letter so the owls will take it to the right person? Always ask for help if you do not understand, and do try to keep your grades up. Also as far as I have learned Gryffindor and Ravenclaw are well known to take the witches and wizards there far. So do try to get into one, alright mi amor? We all want best for our family remember that. The train will be leaving shortly so say your last farewells to me and if you want to say anything to your father do tell me now."
She gave both of them a hurried hug, and squeaked slightly as the train gave a loud whistle. She could hear the conducter saying, "All aboard!' She hustled over dragging the heavy luggage and looked back at her mother and brother. Tears threatened her sorrowful heart, but she held it in and looked at the train that would bring her to a new world, where she would be all alone."Yes Mother, I remember. I will do my best and make our family proud, I won't let you down. Oh, and tell Father I love him and I hope to hear from him soon! I w-w-ill miss all of you. Goodbye Mother. Goodbye Mateo! I love you both so, so, so much!"
It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.
