Logan sat against one of the many bookshelves of the library. To be more specific, the shelves that her and Henry just happened to meet at in their first year. Sherlock was curled up against her legs purring in his sleep as his owner held an old book in her lap, flipping through it aimlessly. Many of the books pages seemed torn from use, occasionally a picture falling out from between them. Just by looking at it, people could tell the book was well loved.

Silent tears flowed down the young Hufflepuff's face as she flipped through her mother's old astronomy book, reading through the little notes her mother had written and looking at the various pictures that were tucked between the pages. The book only reminded the young girl that her mother was gone and her father was moving on. Logan wasn't sure how to react to the fact her father was dating a muggle, honestly she wasn't a fan of it. She believed that her father was attempting to replace her mother in her life and was trying to forget her.

With so many conflicting thoughts and emotions, Logan had went quiet for the beginning half of her third year. She barely talked to any of her friends, having no motivation to talk to people. Even with her attempt to focus only on her studies, her grades dropped as she couldn't focus on what she was supposed to be learning, the littlest of things reminding her of what was actually bothering her in the first place.

That is how Logan managed to find herself in the library, attempting to get back on track with her studies and make herself better for the second half of the year. She had stayed at Hogwarts for the Winter break, hoping maybe this would allow her time to think while not focusing on everything else at once, although maybe it wasn't the best idea for her to look at her mother's book for astronomy help when she was sitting int he astronomy section of the library.

It was only a few days back at the school but Henry felt something missing. A part of him empty, longing for something or someone.

The teen stepped inside the library, Loki sitting on his right shoulder. The teen scanned the tables and shelves in search of his best friend. Walking through the mass area of books, the teen found his mind spiraling. His anxiety loomg overhead. Blamimg him. Shouting at him for not being a better best friend. For forgetting about Logan Baird.

The teen knew how busy he was that year. The teen most days balanced between dueling practice, classes, and frog choir practice. Then on other days he had club meetings and running the secret wolf club with Scarlett. Then there was the boom group who he found himself hanging out with more and more. Then there was his other friends and step siblings who he tried to find times to be with them. The third year admitted that he had more to do this year than later year but that didn't offer a excuse to abandon his best friend. His first friend at Hogwarts.

Eyes peered through each aisle of shelves. The teen already searched the grounds, the astronomy tower, owlery, and the room of requirement even. But no luck. Henry is hoping that Logan was there, surrounded by books. Perhaps reading. Memories flashed through his mind of sitting among the books reading with the girl through meals and fir hours of the day.

A soft smile

The teen couldn't lose Logan. He knew he couldn't. He relied on the girl and haven't net someone who he felt so comfortable with, who he trusted in a heartbeat. The girl was like a sister to him. Henry looked through another aisle. No one.

His anxiety thundering overhead. Worry ran through him. What if he couldn't find her? What if she left him? Moved on... Abandon him...

Shaking his mind. Taking a breath as he felt Loki nibble his ear tip. The teen tried to push those thoughts away as he walked deeper in the library looking for his best friend.

His eyes caught a familiar section. Muggle astronomy. Where he first met Logan nearly three years ago. The teen took a breath, figuring it was worth a try as he walk down when a familiar scent hit his nostrils.

Logan!

The teen followed the scent leading to a book shelf where the girl sat with her feline. Sherlock. Henry gazed upon her, the book she is reading then her tears. Silent but there.

"Hey, I- uh I have been looking for you."

His soft voice escaped him. Emotions ran dormat, hiding behind the 'barrier' except for a soft smile and concern eyes. Henry stepped closer, kneeling on the ground then sitting besides her against the bookshelf.

Loki jumped from his shoulder, trotting over to Sherlock. The feline rubbed heads with him then comfortably sat besides him. Henry looked over at Logan, carefully placing his hand on hers as he spoke"what's wrong?" taking a moment to breath before continuing"and don't say your fine. Your my best friend, I know your not."

Logan was not expecting anyone to be looking for her, let alone someone finding her in the library. So when she heard the voice of best friend, her head shot up in surprise as she quickly attempted to wipe away any evidence of her crying. It was no use though, as he had probably already seen the tears rolling down her cheeks.

"Oh, um, hello Henry," she stuttered out, quickly choosing to look down at her cat to hide her tear stained face. She had gotten his letter on Christmas, feeling bad that she hadn't sent a response back and had never told him that she was staying for Christmas. She knew she couldn't keep pushing him away, but it just felt like a natural response for some reason.

When he asked what was wrong, Logan had it in her mind to respond with 'fine,' but the boy knew her too well and already knew how she was going to respond and that she was not fine. The Hufflepuff felt his hand on hers and carefully flipped her hand around, grasping her hand tightly with his, almost feeling like she was trying to tell him that nothing was okay without actually saying anything.

"I don't want to bother you with my problems," she muttered quietly, leaning against him softly as she glanced down at her cat curled beside her. Sherlock had shifted though, curling more against Loki than his owner. Clearly that cat had missed his best friend too, not having seen him in a while. Logan decided she couldn't keep everything in though, it wasn't fair to Henry or Sherlock. "Just...a lot has been going on," she told him as she grasped the boy's hand just a little tighter.

Looking over the girl, Henry knew that he surprised her a tad. Not expecting him to come. To find her. The teen choose his words carefully, speaking little and listening more. To Logan's words and her actions.

The teen took the spot besides his best friend, taking her hands in his. Feeling her roll her own hand over. Squeezing hers lightly. Leaning back and toward the girl, making it easier for her to lean aginest him. To cry if she wanted to.

"You can never bother me, Logan."

His words slipped out, a soft smile on his lips as his blue gaze flickered toward Logan. Squeezing her hand lightly. Henry reached across, rubbing Logan's shoulder with his free hand as he spoke"Plus your problems are mine," smiling softly toward his beat friend as he moved his hand from her shoulder. Still Squeezing her hand. Listening. Eyes small, blue gaze filled with worry and concern. The rest of his emotions hidden behind the 'barrier'.

Loki stretched out, circling once then laid besides Sherlock. His orange tail wrapping around Sherlock. The feline pressed his head aginest Sherlock and let out a low meow. Henry watched thr scene, he figured his feline missed Sherlock about as much as he have missed Logan.

Eyes flickering from the two felines roward Logan, gaze reverting to their hands. Listening to her words. Squeezing her hand softly. The teen softly spoke"what has? You can tell me, Logan. You can trust me." The teen held her hand, wanting- longing to help his best friend. Head touching hers. The teen haven't spent much of that year with her but he still could, he still could be there for her. Help her through hee problems.

Logan sighed softly, glancing down at their hands as she tried to calm herself down. "I..." she stopped herself attempting to think of how to say anything to the boy. Slowly, the girl closed the book sitting in her lap, revealing the cover with her mother's name engraved into it. She finally decided to start off with a question instead of straight out explaining what was going on.

"How did you deal with your father remarrying?" she questioned. She knew some of what all had gone on, but she wasn't completely sure and didn't want to assume. "Did you feel like he was just abandoning your mother?" At this point, a few tears ran down her face as she looked down at the book on her lap. She knew her father had loved her mother, but it seemed like anymore he was just trying to forget about her completely.

It wasn't like her father was getting rid of everything to deal with her mother. He hadn't even introduced the woman he was dating to the kids yet. The only reason any of them knew about her was because Logan had seen them on her way back from a dance lesson and went home and asked her brother's about it. None of them were happy with their father, but Logan seemed to handle it worse than her brothers. At least they had each other.

Henry's gaze set on Logan, ears patiently listening. The teen cuaght her attempt to speak, squeezing her hand a bit in his own. A silent way to tell her that he was listening, that it will be alright.

His blue gaze fell down at the ckver of the newly closed book. Olivia Baird. The teen looked back at Logan, now starting to understand as he moved closer to his best friend. Letting go of her hand, to wrap his arm around her. Gently squeezing her shoulders.

The teen listened. A question. Unsure what to say. His relationship with his father is strange, the two have never been close since the accident and the way they bond is odd. One moment they can be a nornak father and son but the next can be utter chaos. Boue eyes set on Logan, gently squeezing her shoulders as he thought until he heard her voice again.

Henry reached across his lap or knees with his free hand, taking Logan's in it. The teen rubbed her knuckles with his fingers as he spoke"that is complicated for me and for a while that's what I thought but I learned that I can despise my step mum but still have a good relationship with my father who suffered the same pain as I and my siblings did when are mum passed." Restating the words that Arthur once told him. Words that helped him change his perspective and not completely avoid or cut off his father. The teen used words like 'I' or 'me' but meant them for Logan, not wanting to impose on the girl.

"I'm guessing your father has a parther?"

Henry asked his right hand rubbing her knuckles on his left held Logan's shoulder. Squeezing them gently. The teen watched as Loki rubbed heads with Sherlock, tail flickering around the grey feline. Not a thought in the world. Nor a care. Sometimes he envied his feline and the life Loki possess.

The teen took a breath as he spoke"do you feel like your father is abandoning your mum?" A question. A single questiom that can go a long way and Henry listened. Waiting. Wanting to help.

Logan sat there, staring at the shelves of books across from where they sat. Listening to the boy carefully and squeezing his hand back as he spoke. She understood, she wasn't the only one who lost something when her mother died. Her brothers lost their mother and her father lost the love of his life, or at least she thought her mother was the love of his life. She wasn't surprised when Henry was able to guess that her father had a partner, he was a rather smart person.

"I found out on my way back from dance," she started off, leaning into the boy as he wrapped his arm around her. "I was walking passed this bakery and just happened to glance inside. I don't think he wanted any of us to find out because he looked rather surprised and scared when he saw me." She muttered a little as she leaned against the boy more. She remembered the look of surprise that crossed her father's face when he saw her through the window. It would surprise anyone if they saw one of their parents kissing someone they had no clue about.

The young Hufflepuff took in a deep breath as she began to continue the rest of her story. "He finally told the boys and I about it that night at dinner. Her name is Elizabeth, she's a muggle and owns the bakery. Apparently they have been seeing each other for almost a year now." She slowly looked up at Henry, afraid he was going to think she was being irrational.

She knew her brothers were just as angry with their father as she was. They lived with the man still and were not told about the woman. One of the reasons they all spent a week with their grandparents. "Do you think I am being irrational, for being angry he didn't tell us and thinking he is trying to forget my mother?" She asked the boy honestly, tears pooling as she looked her best friend in the eyes, slightly afraid of what his response would be.

Henry stayed silent. Choosing to listen. Squeezing Logan's shoulders and hand a bit as the words reached his ears, nodding softly to them.

The situation felt strangely familiar to him. A father dating in secret then one day finding out, no notice or beforehand knowledge. Then your expected to agree with the situation, smile and be happy for your parent. Move on from the life that you had and the one that you could still remember from years ago. Yep, the situation sounded to familiar to him. It was what happened to him kast year...

Henry squeezed Logan's hand, listening. Nodding to her words. The teen wanted to help, letting her speak as he listened is one way that he knew of with how to help.

Loki flicked his tail, amber eyes gazinf up the two students. The feline softly meowed toward Logan, getting to his feet then taking a few steps toward the girl. Placing his paw on her leg, the feline wanted to help. Wants to comfort Logan. The feline could be a fine service or emotional support animal.

Henry held his best friend's shoulders, listening. Not daring to interrupt. He wants to let her speak, let her get the words and emtions out. The teen nodded. Listening. His mind not fully understanding how something like that can be kept hidden for a year but than again it happened to him....

The heard her question. Her words. Then saw her eyes. Henry looked at the girl, holding her shoulders tightly as he spoke"no, no Logan. Your not be irrational or anything so don't feel guilty or like your owe your father something because you don't." The teen softpy nodded toward her then slid Logan's hand over the potions book with his own.

"My brother told me last year that it isn't our parents who keep the memory of the ones we lost alive. It's us," Henry spoke squeezing Logan's hand a tad then letting it go, blue eyes trained for his best friend's face as he continued"you can be angry at your father not telling you or dating but not for forgetting your mother. That's your responsibility to keep her memory alive and trust me, your doing a brillant job at that."

Logan felt guilty about having kept everything in for so long. In her mind, she knew she should have talked to Henry sooner, or anyone at all for that matter. She just did not want to bother anyone with her problems if she did not have to. She should have known she would never bother Henry with her problems though, they were best friends, they were supposed to be there for each other.

The Hufflepuff listened closely to Henry, watching as he slid his hand over hers that was resting on the book on her legs. She had almost forgotten that the Slytherin boy had gone through something similar the summer before, except he was friends with his new step-sister already, Logan knew nothing about the new woman that was in her father’s life.

Just by listening, she understood that she needed to be the one to remember her father, she could not rely on her father to be the only one to remember the woman. She would have to be the one to make sure her brothers and herself kept the memory of her mother alive.

“I think I can do that,” she muttered to the boy, knowing she was going to have to try her best to remember her mother. At this point she had calmed down quite a bit; Sherlock was no longer checking on her every few seconds as if she was going to leave him behind.

Looking up at her best friend again, Logan thought about the fact the woman was a muggle. “What about her being a muggle? If father ever invites her over, we are going to have to hide everything about us having magic. For goodness sake, our house does not even look like a muggle house; we have magical lights.” She did not know if her family was going to be able to keep it a secret that they had magic, there were just way to many things in their home to give it away.

Henry leaned closer to Logan, holding her shoulders with his arm. The teen squeezed her hand once before letting it go, moving it from her book. The lad wanted to help her, understand her emotions and what possibly could be bothering her.

The teen heard her voice. Finding her eyes, he smiled softly toward her as he spoke"your already doing a brillant job at it, robin," the teen knew how felt to try to keep a lost parent's memory alive. He knew how it felt to feel like they wouldn't be proud or would be shameful of you. Those thoughts spiraled the lad's mind during the last summer holiday and he didn't want them to spiral the mind of his best friend. Doing his best to help. To comfort her.

Loki gazed upon Logan for another moment before going back over toward Sherlock, stretching out besides the feline. Loki flick his tail as he licked the grey feline's forehead. Amber eyes watching over the two students.

The teen heard Logan's voice. Her words. Her concerns with the lady being a muggle and hiding her magic. Unsure how to respond, the teen never was in a situation like hers. Where he had to hide his magic at his home from a muggle. Henry looked over at the girl as he spoke"adults can be quite obvious at times to certain items," smiling a little, his voice in a playfuly tone as a attempt to lighten up the situation. The teen quickly felt the playfulness fade from his voice, a soft smile present on his face now.

"There are ways to hide it, I'm sure you can and shouldn't your father worry about that?"

Henry spoke, looking at his best friend wanting to help her relax. To ease her mind. But also unsure about his answer, the teen decided his following words weren't the best but they were something.
