Rafael’s O was in grave danger, and there seemed to be little he could do about it.

Four days into the cursed book hunt, and the Captain’s efforts had yet to yield results or even clues pointing to the whereabouts of his beloved and vital notebook, in which he had spent many hours of his week outlining the conversations and points made in his bi-weekly Divinations lectures. A fact that left the Captain much more irritable and pissy than he would have liked to admit – or, perhaps the correct term for his current temperaments would be a word akin to chronic exasperation, courtesy of the powerlessness he had been experiencing for four straight days. Control was a buddy he liked to keep close, yet she had sorely deserted his midst in his time of great need – the sting of her betrayal was eating away at the back of his mind, but he would attempt to will his annoyance down, in the hopes of locating his prized notebook. He refused to feel powerless, h-he – he couldn’t, he despised it.

“Did it turn bloody invisible?” the Gryffindor muttered bitterly to himself, nimble feet carrying him through the halls of the school of magic in an airy sort of fashion. It was a pace he had reluctantly and painfully adopted, his mannerisms quite hilariously resembling that of an old and prim professor – perhaps the likeness of the late McGonagall? – eyes turned sharp in search of every nook and cranny that so happened to lie before his vision. Of course, he wouldn’t have felt the need to examine such far and in-between locations if he’d found results elsewhere – alas, he had found all his usual study and recreational spots barren upon his initial search-through of the building, as he had found his fourth and fifth. Thievery could be the only culprit, he had long since deduced in irritation, and yet, such a revelation could do little to yield the results he so desperately grasped for. The only answer was to continue searching. Groveling was beginning to look more and more appealing, as well. Perhaps Anastasia remembered some of the previously covered points? Unlikely that she would want to assost him, as she was busy with her own classes. What about Zyk? They took the same classes, so it was very possible. An exhale escaped the lips of the Captain as he continued his brisk pace. Zyk hardly studied – asking him for assistance would be useless. His best bet was to find the damned notebook – but where?

His pace slowed as he reached the small hall. It was a location he’d turned inside and out at least three times by now – yet, another search-through wouldn’t hurt, would it? Brushing a hand through his dyed-black hair, he pulled his numb fingers through the sleeves of his hoodie, knees slamming pathetically to the ground as he began his search under the first decorative table. It was humiliating, but not nearly as humbling as a failed test grade would be. Who knew? Maybe he’d look somewhere he hadn’t checked the first several times. He chuckled in bitter discomfort, shaking the hopeful thought from his head. Unlikely, but only time would tell, he supposed.

Biting his lip, he would once again resume his avid search, deaf to the happenings of the world around him.

I probably haven't collected my allowance yet.
