The library was eerily quiet. Usually, the silent murmur of students filled the room, their heads bent over ancient tomes, whispering incantations underneath their breaths, breathing life into the massive building with every scritch scratch of their pens. Not today. Today, the grounds were covered in a blanket of freshly set white snow, remnants from a blizzard which had seemed to nearly knock over the building the night before. Draven didn't envy the eagles perched in their stone towers, looking as the sky crashed down on them with each gust of wind.

Down, deep underneath the castle, Draven had been asleep underneath a pile of blankets and pillows, the smell of candles lulling him into a gentle slumber. And for the first time in a while, the boy had slept through the night.

Draven sighed, taking a sip of the mug of hot chocolate resting on the table beside him. He was tucked away in a corner of the library, floating candles casting a warm golden glow over a poetry book held loosely in his hands. A tiny smile was playing at the corner of his mouth as he silently spoke the words, chanting them like a mantra. An anthem to his heart, a prayer to a god which had died long before, but continued to watch over him in spirit.

Juniper had made actions she never meant, as of late. She had a bruised nose to prove it and a guilty mind. Sure, she was really nice and hated bullies. But if she stopped down to the bullies' level to get back, doesn't that make her just as bad, if not worse? She didn't know, and whatever the answer was, she needed to fix her temper. So when she's got nothing to do, or no place to think, she resorts to the Ravenclaw deep, deep, deep inside her. She heads to the library with a book in her hand (Goosebumps, Revenge of the living dummy) and opened the door.

Once she entered the large room, she stood for a moment as she stared. Definetly the most quiet of places in the library, she had once disturbed the peace with her friends. (BOOM) She smiled at the memory of their rater jolly performance as she relived it all. She kept her head low in case the librarian recognized her as the cartwheeling, screeching hyena that can't get a single note right. She passed the house elves and whispered her greetings "Hi, hello, good... afternoon? I don't know what time it is." She made her way past nerds and last minute homework doers as she searched for an empty table.

And she found one! Sort of. Someone was sitting there. A boy with ebony hair and sharp features on his face, from what she could see, anyway. He had his face buried in his book, and an aurora of mystery around him. Or maybe loneliness. Or maybe both. Juniper walked over and read the cover of the book he was reading. Ah, so he was a fan of dark mysterious (dead) poets. She lightly set her book down and whispered loudly enough for him to hear her. "Edgar Allan Poe. A man of tragic life and mysterious death? Was it sickness? Was it a crime? Was it alcohol abuse? Nobody knows." She said in a mysterious voice. She learned about him in English at her muggle schools. Apparently, there was this whole thingy about how he died.

Draven drained his mug with a long sip, a tiny smile one his face as he leaned back in the leather chair. Usually, he avoided the library at all costs, the clamor of students and the uncomfortable tables instilling a sense of dread in him. But today, with most the other kids pelting each other with snowballs, the boy found he could sit in peace.

One of the house elves wordlessly brought him another mug, fueling his hot chocolate addiction. 'Thank you' he mouthed in the tiny girl's direction, giving her a grin. He earned himself a curtsey in response, although a little clumsy and graceless. The house elf only came up to his chest, long pointy ears tucked underneath a knitted pink hat. It matched the pokedot dress she was wearing, and the glass bracelets looped around bony wrists. She wiggled the empty mug in his direction and disappeared behind a bookshelf, the only memory of her presence wafting deliciously around his corner.

There was a great clamor. Whispered 'hello's and half apologies, as a girl about his age made her way to his desk, whispering to herself underneath her breath. "I like to think it was drugs, and that figures from his poems helped him pass to the after life." Draven mused, setting the book down on the table, and leaning forwards in his seat. The girl was clearly looking for a place to sit. "Would you like to join me?" he asked, tapping his wand against the only other chair at the table. It floated backwards gracefully, leaving an inviting space for the girl to sit in.

She was incredibly pretty, ruby hair tumbling across her shoulders in elegant waves, a dusting of freckles scattered across her face like stars. Draven hid a smile. This girl was like fire, shining brilliantly, filling the room with her energy. And he was like the shadow cast by the flames, graceful and silent, elegant in the midst of chaos. "I've seen you on the quidditch field, Ms. Kelly. You're a remarkable player."

Juniper just nearly dodged the little house-elf who scurried away with an empty mug. She nearly tripped over the elf. "Oop, oh gosh so sorry!" She stopped and tried to step around the house elf, but the house elf had stopped too. Juniper stepped to the side, as did the elf. "Oop" She laughed and moved to the other side to let the elf scurry on. "Okaayyy She walked to the table where the boy sat, who claimed where he stood on the topic.

She set a hand on her hip. "Really? Isn't it..." She scrunched up her nose and looked up as if she were thinking. "Isn't it really strange how all the theories are so tragic?" She smiled and sat in the chair he pulled out. "Thanks!" She said, laying her hand on her book, flat on the table. She pushed her hair behind her shoulder. "I mean, maybe he died of- of- I don't know-" She waved her hand around uselessly, and laughed. "Something not so tragic? Sure, he had a tragic life... but why can't he have a somewhat normal death? I dunno." She shook her head and rested her head on her hand.

Taking this moment to get a better look at the boy, she scanned his face. He had gray eyes and dark hair. He had sharp features and seemed very organized. He had an air of dignity, and his clothes seemed well thought out. He was seemingly the opposite of him. Her hair was wavy, and she never used any special products. Her clothes weren't well thought out, she just wore whatever looked fun. She did, however, tuck in her shirt with her outfits most of the time.

The boy made a comment, and she was startled. A smile grew on her face. "Haha, thanks. I enjoy quidditch. So what's your name?" She asked.

Draven gave her a warm smile, reaching over to shake her hand. "I'm Draven. Mirador."

They didn't have time to get another word in, because Draven felt a tap against his elbow. Looking down, he was greeted by the sight of a house elf bearing another mug of hot chocolate. "Thank you Quincey," Draven smiled, carefully picking up the mug and sliding it across the table to the girl. "I think this is meant for you, Ms. And justly so, it was rude of me to drink by myself."

From somewhere deep inside the expensive cloak, Draven produced a silver sickle and handed it off to the elf. It wasn't much to him. Barely pocket change. Being born to one of the most fabulously wealthy men in the country came with certain perks. Like living in a mansion, and being able to bribe house elves.

"So what brings you to the library, Ms. Kelly? Forgive my surprise, but this is a rare occurrence A great, but seldom pleasure." Draven shifted in his seat, picking up his own mug. Somehow, even within the near darkness of the library with specs of dust flying all around them and the scuttling of mice running across the shelves, Draven managed to look like royalty.

Juniper accepted his hand, feeling like she should definitely recognize the name Mirador. Maybe it was the air of supremacy that Draven held, but she was sure his family was of importance. "uh oh." She said teasingly, but not unkindly. "Should I know of these... Miradors? Am I in the presence of royalty?" She teased with a kind smile. Juniper looked at the elf who tapped on Draven's shoulder, wondering if he had one at his home. He seemed so used to them being around.

The house elf handed Draven a mug of... something, and Juniper watched as he played the elf. She tilted her head. "Okay, I have to know. Do you always carry around money in your pockets? And am the only one who still gets freaked out about the elves around the school?" She blurted out. She blinked, realizing she had gone back to hurting things out. She laughed at herself.

However she stopped laughing when she realized the hot chocolate was being given to her. "Why thank you, such a gentleman. I love hot cocoa. "She took a sip from the mug, and quickly moved the mug away. "Yet I always forget the 'hot' part." She gently blew on the drink as she listened to the question.

"Just to... gah, I dunno. To clear my head and sort out some thoughts and regrets of my actions." She shrugged and took a sip with caution. It warmed her tongue, and she didn't realize the hot chocolate lining her upper lip like a mustache.

"A little bit," Draven smirked, taking a long sip of his hot chocolate. "My family goes way back. Twice as obnoxious as they are rich, reputation is everything, yada yada yada." He leaned back in his seat, gray eyes studying Ms. Kelly's face. "And about the money...yeah. I figured why not, you know? I have way more than I know what to do with...."

The elves... Draven's brows furrowed. "Are you muggleborn, Ms. Kelly?" he asked, taking another sip. "The elves are a fairly normal part of life...to be honest, I'd be concerned if I didn't see one every few minutes." Draven's household had always had the invisible servants on hand. They cooked their food and cleaned the mansion, folded clothing and reshelved the books Dray and his father stole from the library every few hours. If left to their own devices, Draven doubted the Miradors could survive a week.

"My sister and I were very nearly raised by them," Draven grinned. "Between my mother's painting and my dad's auror...ing..., the house would have been pretty empty without the-."

Draven held back a laugh, pulling a handkerchief from inside his coat pocket and offering it to her. "A mustache actually looks quite good on you" he said, wiggling his eyebrows in her direction. "Maybe you'll start a new fashion trend, Ms. Kelly"

"Ah, I see. My family goes way back, too, just not famously. " She said with a shrug of her shoulder. "But hey, if your family ever needs eggs, milk, or cheese my family's farm can provide-" She put on a deep and obnoxious fancy voice. "The finest- of those. That is." As the boy studied her face, she looked into his eyes. She rested her head on her "You have pretty eyes" She blurted. She widened her eyes at that little sentence she just said.

She brushed the feeling off quickly. "my parents don't care much about reputation, but my dad's side of the family are your basic pure blood family. Lots of money, too, of course they don't keep in touch with us. We're not the perfect family they wanted, but whatever." Draven frowned at Juniper's question. So was that a stupid question? "I just... we just don't have house elves. We do the chores on our own at my house. she couldn't imagine having elves at your service.

Draven let out a laugh that at first confused her. "huh? Oh my gosh-" She took what she assumed was a napkin from him and wiped above her lip. "PFFT, Mr.Mirador, I could make anything look hot. She said jokingly

Draven laughed behind his mug, leaning backwards in his chair. "The best quality produce, I'm sure." he grinned. "Although I wouldn't know the difference....I've never even seen a cow before." His eyes widened a fraction at the compliment, eyebrows moving nearly imperceptibly upwards. "Why," he said, "thank you Ms. Kelly." Surprise colored the boy's voice. Not at the compliment, but at who it came from. Out of all the types Draven had imagined Juniper fancied, he hadn't counted himself amongst them.

"I have trouble picturing anyone not wanting you," Draven mused, setting the mug down. "I'm sure you get this a lot, but you're quite lovely." The thought of...chores was alien to him. Of course, he'd have to learn eventually. Draven liked expensive things, but he didn't like the people that came along with them. And unfortunately, the only way to get away from the people involved a lot of sweat and tears.

From somewhere in the corner of the library, an elf was slowly but surely shuffling towards them. Draven's eyes flickered towards the tiny girl and waved her onward. "I think our time is about to get cut short," he sighed, standing up and brushing inexistent dust off his clothes.

"This was wonderful, Ms. Kelly. I'd love to see you again sometime." leaning forward, he gingerly picked up her hand, placing a gentle kiss on the back of it. A picture of elegance and grace, just like a proper gentleman should have been. "Let me know when you have some time."

Juniper grinned ear-to-ear. A compliment about her family's work was always welcome, even if he never got their goods. And during the summers and winters, and she helped produce the goods on the farm so she felt a little proud, too. She widened her eyes and leaned forward slightly. "Never?" She leaned back, astonished. She grew up her whole life with cows and goats and pigs and chickens. "Dude, they might be smelly but they're c u t e" She said to him, noding, And after her blurted compliment, it was Draven's turn to be shocked.

Hurridly, she took a sip of hot cocoa to hide her face. But as his next words came, she was so surprised that she coughed and sputtered on her hot cocoa, having gotten too much in her mouth. So much for lovely now. "Actually- no. I do not get that a lot-" she gestured to the hot cocoa now on the table and her still coughing face. "And I'm sure this is why-" But she couldn't get his words from her head.

She was NO boy expert, so how deep was she to look into that compliment? What did it mean? She looked at where Draven was looking, and her heart fell slightly. "That's unfortunate, I enjoy your company." She said with a slight frown. However her face just burned when he gently placed a kiss on her hand like a gentleman. She stared ahead of her as he said goodbye. "I- anytime. Like, weekends, after school- OH except for Quidditch practice. I could owl you my schedule. " Then she sat there for about ten minutes after he left, gathering her thoughts and feelings.

What just happened?
