[font=Book Antiqua]Robert Shilling was born on the 16th of September, to Oleana Wallin and Rory Shilling, both pure-blooded wizards, albeit from different countries. The Shilling family line has for centuries held positions within the mediwizarding community, something that his father Rory Shilling continued after his graduation from Hogwarts at St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. Meanwhile, the Wallin line has had a prominent presence in the historical art of Scandinavian potion-brewing. It was rumoured that it was a Wallin family recipe that was the foundation behind the sleeping draught. This was, however, debunked and found to be the ravings of Robert’s great-great-great-granduncle Anders Wallin after ingesting an expired forgetfulness potion.

The young boy was raised in a small town on the northern coast of Scotland, amidst the harsh weather and daunting waves of the sea. His childhood was, surprisingly, quite normal. The only adventures he ever enjoyed were trips out at sea with his parents, or, the occasional mishap caused by his mother's experimental potions. From the age where he began showing an understanding of rudimentary concepts, his parents began homeschooling him. Truthfully, this was one of the main reasons for Robert’s asocial personality. It was never that his parents kept him from seeking out new friends, nor did they discourage him from asking for help. Robert simply developed an attitude wherein he chose to find the answers on his own, even if that were the harder route.

At the age of six, Robert had his first instance of magic. He was out at sea with his parents, gliding over calm waves in a wooden skiff. A storm had passed through the night before and blanketed the nearby beaches with pebbles, smoothened shells, and seaweed. The weather was now calmer than it had been for weeks and just as so many times before the family enjoyed the tranquillity. Gazing down onto the seafloor from the edge of the boat, Robert was searching for little crabs darting across the sand when he glimpsed the slow coiling movement of an eel. He had never experienced the sight before as, according to his father: “they were hiding in the sand or old shipwrecks”. In an exclamation of glee and, much to the disdain of Oleana and Rory, a sudden rocking of the skiff, Robert’s hair audibly popped from its natural black into an aqua hue. Although the colour only lasted for just under a minute before fading back into it's original colour, it paved the way for his first steps into the wizarding world.[/font]
