The Stars and the Snow
It was late. He knew that much. But Marcel didn't want to leave, not yet. Astronomy had just ended, and fittingly enough, snow was starting to fall, a perfect way to start the beginning of December. He put his hand against the enchanted wall, at the balcony beyond.IC date- Wednesday, December First, 11:05 pm
Words- 247
How he wished they were able to go outside this class. But that was alright. Seeing it was wondrous enough.
The small boy stared at the sky, what light was left in the classroom illuminating him, giving a slight pinkish glow to his rather pale skin. Absentmindedly, he began to fiddle with the long sleeves of his robes. Too long, he thought, but he couldn't exactly argue with the school uniform, could he? Still, the sleeves were- at least in his eyes- just a tad impractical-
He shook his head, pushing this line of thinking out. He didn't want to get bogged down in analysis now. Right now was to just exist before heading off to bed.
The sky was beautiful, indigos and blues mixing with the white of the snow, like twinkling stars falling to earth, though much less dangerous than stars. Marcel pushed up his glasses, frowning slightly as they slipped slightly back down his nose. They'd always been finicky, but it felt like the more he messed with them, the more they'd fall.
He let his hands drop, staring back up at the sky. He'd stay for a few more minutes, and drink it all in.

The Stars and the Snow
@Marcel WheatleyCody smiled, he walked into the Astronomy classroom. Maybe it was the memory of interrogating the professor about a constellation named Cody, named after the part goblin. Granted, Professor Read said it was completely false and that Cody's twin was pulling his leg, but that had to be the lie. Somewhere, somewhere out there, lie a group of unnamed constellations.
He walked out to the balcony. A boy was standing out there. "Hey. I'm Cody, first year Hufflepuff Duelist. You?" Maybe it was a little ridiculous that Cody listed his titles, maybe stupid, but there was a feeling inside Cody making him falter out his mischievous ways when he went through that odd scenario a few weeks ago. Maybe it was the greenhouse he smashed a few days prior. Whatever it was, Cody did a bad thing, and Cody felt that he needed to behave in order to prove himself, to prove he was worthy of the Hufflepuff name, not that it was ever threatened to be taken away from him.
"Mmm, what are you looking for? I'm a Libra. It's a little odd isn't it? But, I know we just met, but to make sure the reason why I scare you away is not because you find out later after becoming friends with me. But, this is hard for me to tell you. I'm gay. And I'm a Wiccan. You don't have a problem with that right? Yes, I know I'm a part goblin, Yes I am short for my age, but I am 12, I'll tell you that. Yes, you are apparently a little over a foot taller than I am. That's because I'm a part goblin. My accent is different because I was born in America and grew up there until I was seven. Despite all that, are we friends? That doesn't scare you away?"
The incorrosive rambling the boy had was lengthy, but he hoped it recapped everything that might confuse the boy.

The Stars and the Snow
Marcel jolted upon hearing an unfamiliar voice. He slowly turned around, blinking as he saw a slightly smaller boy, who just introduced himself as 'Cody.' He adjusted his glasses, although a bit nervously. "Um...Marcel. Second Year Ravenclaw." He regarded Cody with curiosity. People didn't tend to talk to him. He was rather quiet unless he heard something he was especially interested in talking about. However, he was taken aback when the boy started rambling at him, almost just as fast as he tended to do. His eyes slowly lit up as he listened eagerly, bouncing on his heels slightly.
"Well... I wasn't quite looking for anything at the moment. I was staring at the sky. The snow falling mixed with the colors of the sky are incredibly appealing and calming to me. I'm a Leo myself, but the rest of my solar chart tends to be... unfitting. It's odd, but it seems to be how things are." His eyebrows raised. "Why would I be scared away by you being gay or Wiccan? That seems to be rather illogical. However, you being part goblin is incredibly fascinating! I'm afraid I'm human, though I was cursed with being rather short."
He paused for a moment, mulling Cody's question over.
Friends?
He didn't tend to have friends, at least not many. So being asked outright...
"... I would like to be your friend. I don't tend to get scared away. As well as... I don't tend to have many friends. He sighed, but he quickly perked back up.
"But... yes! Friends! Is there anything you needed, or?.." He trailed off, unable to finish the sentence.

The Stars and the Snow
At first, Nigel did not know there were students outside the Astronomy classroom, as he was teaching the sixth years and perhaps also because there were only two kids breaking the curfew and the rule not to climb the Astronomy Tower unless for class.
After ten minutes or so though, the noises gradually grew louder, and the young American professor realised some people were just outside his classroom. Excusing himself to the sixth years, Nigel opened the door, and sure enough he saw pupils - in two groups, apparently.
One of the groups was formed by Marcel Wheatley, a second year Ravenclaw who had just had a class, and first year Hufflepuff Cody Stevenson. Nigel stormed toward the two boys and talked to them sternly, using their last names - something the teacher did only when said student had done something he disapproved.
"Mr Wheatley, what are you doing this late here? Second years' class finished fifteen minutes ago, and I have to say I'm disappointed in you. But since you have good records and this is only the first time I catch you doing this, I'm letting you off with a warning.
"And Mr Stevenson. I know you know better. I shall have a talk with Professor Browne about your behaviour tonight. Now off you go, back to your dorm - you too, Mr Wheatley. Right now."
With that, he left the two students, approaching the other group to tell them exactly the same thing.

OC: Feel free to make one post each to state that your character leaves the Astronomy Tower. Currently there is no option to debate the professor or linger, since the sixth years are having a class and Nigel would automatically know there are people outside. This post was made since I had sent each of you an owl three days ago and not everyone got back to me, therefore I consider both of you agree with what I explained in my message. Furthermore, this thread takes exactly the same time as another thread in the same area, When Disaster Strikes (viewtopic.php?t=18956), which explains the second group mentioned above (IC) as well as adding the possibility of getting caught.

The Stars and the Snow
Marcel flinched.
He hadn't meant for it to be so late, and he definitely didn't think he would be reprimanded. Everything began to clench, and he tried his best to control his breathing.
"Of course, Professor. I am dreadfully sorry, and it will not happen again."
His pale face shone bright red with embarrassment as the professor strode away, and he turned to Cody, pushing up his glasses. "Let us meet when it's not past curfew. I certainly don't want to get in trouble again..."
Straightening his robes and picking up a few books he had at his feet, he nodded at Cody. "I hope to meet again soon. Perhaps at free time. I don't tend to go outside much, and I suppose I should. Though now that it's gotten colder that may be less of a possibility-" He shook his head. "Well... I'm sure I'll be able to reach you some way or another, if I can't find you myself. Until we meet again, Cody."
And with that, the young boy hurried off to the West Tower, heart pounding. Whether it was from the adrenaline of being scolded or from meeting a new friend, he couldn't say... but he knew not to get caught up in his thoughts anymore.
