The Pureblood Ways
October, 3rd 2021
It was the end of the day. Classes are over. She is a little exhausted, as per usual. Classes are boring. Really, really boring. History of Magic to be exact, It’s already pretty obvious by the name of the class that its going to be completely dull.
She still can’t believe it's been a month since she came here, to Hogwarts that is. Times do come by pretty quickly, even though most of the time it's been quite monotonous. These walls and carving, the weird armor statue that decorates the castle, she already pretty tired of it. But she does still enjoys the paintings though, the odd moving paintings that are plastered all along the corridor walls. There’s one portrait of a lady she is particularly fond of. She’s elegant and beautiful. Sometimes when she stared at her, and the portrait lady does notice, and acts abashed. Well, of course, she acts that way, the most fabulous girl in Hogwarts was starting at her. But the actual reason that Pea always stops to gaze at the painting every time she passed the corridor was because the portrait lady reminded her of her aunt. She misses her, but she feels deep down she could not afford to feel that way. Again, missing someone makes her weak. So for the time being, admiring this painting is enough.
And her peaceful moment was abruptly disturbed. She doesn’t understand why she can’t have a moment of peace in this place. There are always kids who disrupted her or annoyed her. This time it’s a bunch of students, for the look of it, older than her. And they are very noisy, like really, really noisy. She was about to move past them when a word makes her ear perk. “Mudblood.” Their tones were fearsome like they are trying to intimidate someone. She often hears that word, especially in the Slytherin common room. At first, she doesn’t really understand what it means since she was raised by muggles. But after a while, she understands, well the word was self-explanatory. Mud-blood, or dirty blood. Usually refers to people that are muggle-borns or even sometimes half-bloods wizards or witches that are not from a pure-blood line. She don’t particularly fond of the word, because belittling someone just because of something they are born with is not her style. But belittling someone because of their looks or outfit? That makes more sense to her. Maybe that’s because she was raised by muggles that she doesn’t always follow the pureblood ways. Well, to think of it, she wasn’t even fully pureblood, she was a halfbreed, a mixture of a witch and someone with Veela blood. But she doesn’t really like to talk about that part of her. Being part Veela.
She stayed for a bit, trying to listen to what they’re doing. It was something fascinating for once, it was not often to see someone getting bullied, well even though she does do that to someone too. But never in a group though, that feels unfair, isn’t it? Huh, we’ll see.

Aspen's first month at Hogwarts has thus been a success. She's made good friends, earned good grades, met amazing professors. She was finally beginning to feel like she fit in for once. Her favorite part of Hogwarts thus far is the Ravenclaw common room. It feels nice and cozy, especially when she has a book to read by the fireplace on a rainy night. Everything was going perfectly swell, until today.
It started out as a quiet, lovely afternoon. Classes were over and it was time to get heading back to the common room to do some homework and some studying. However, her lovely afternoon was ended quite quickly when a click of Slytherin Third Years took notice to the Muggle-Born student. The supposed leader of the group stuck her foot out and tripped Aspen, causing her to spill her books and notes all over the floor. Thinking it was just an accident, Aspen began to clean up her papers before one of the students stomped their foot down on the paper. "What do you think you're doing, Mudblood?" the student asked.
Mudblood was a slur for those who were Muggle born, supposed to mean "dirty blood." However, Aspen had never heard this term before and was quite confused by it. "Mudblood...?" she asked. "What is that supposed to mean...?"
"It means you don't belong here," one of the students snapped. "You're muggle born, a filthy, dirty, mudblood."
Aspen had never heard such words before and was shocked to be hearing this. Her heart started to sink into her chest as they told her these awful, hurtful things. Was she really just no good? She had fantastic grades and was doing just as well as any other hard working student! Why would she be any less?

And there she is. The target of these cruel pureblooded bullies. And Pea had to say, seeing them come from her house is no surprise, but still disappointing. But who is she to judge? well, she never stoop at the level as these thugs, but she still occasionally joins in on the mockery too.
The girl victim is ordinary looking, Pea can even admit she's also a little cute, ..a perfect victim for a perfect crime. Pity. Pity. This is the moment she is glad that she was not born into a muggle family, even though she grew up with one.
After witnessing for several seconds, she notices the girl even more. She looks familiar, most probably someone her age, a fellow first-year it seemed. From her uniform, she is from the house of the eagles, which to be honest is her second favorite house next to Slytherin's. Pea sighed, and can't believe what she was about to do.
Pea moves closer to the crowd, looking relaxed and unbothered while both of her hands are laid on her back. She coughed two times near the purist seniors. No response. She gets irritated and coughed louder.
"Excuse me, what are you doing with my lackey?" She says with confidence, "She's mine, so only I can insult her." She continued with the utmost superiority even though she was talking to a bunch of seniors. After helping the girl to get up, Pea hangs he hands onto her shoulders so it would seem like she knows the girl. The Slytherin's seniors look stunned, but Pea continues looking at the bully with a challenging gaze. She knows that Slytherin's are loyal wizards especially with anyone from their houses, so let's hope they would not cause any more problems. Although their hideous clothing choices make her want to start something. "She's yours?" One of them chimed in, contemplating whether they believed her or not.
She rolled her eyes, "You daft? or did I have to explain myself twice?" She answered with a casual tone. It might have been a terrible mistake to insult them, but let's hope Pea intimidate them anough and let them go or this is about to go real ugly.
