A brand new day.
Michael waved goodbye to his mom, who nodded and left. He sat down and looked at the empty compartment he had found. He had been really lucky, most of them were full. He looked up at his trunk and grinned, he really was going to Hogwarts, magic really was real, and he might actually make a friend! He quickly shoved that thought away, no one would want to be friends with him. With his idiot grin, his pointy teeth (because he doesn’t like the sound of grinding them), and his weird ideas.
He thought back to earlier. He had felt odd when he had arrived, looking at all the people around him saying goodbye to their relatives. Some of them had cried, and there was a lot of hugging. He felt even odder, sad? when his mom only put a hand on his shoulder and said, “do well, goodbye.”
That doesn’t matter anyway, he knows his mom loves him. He absentmindedly played with an end of his long scarf (vibrant pink and forest green). He decided to sketch in his book the scene he had seen, of the happy people hugging, the crying ones saying goodbye, and the hurry of getting on the train.

A brand new day.
Ivan having arrived to the magical side of the world through the archway he boards the train lost in his observations of the people and magic happening alongside the train. Even as the train stars to slowly move towards the destination he walks on slowly looking for a compartment with less people, less activity and more intrigue in the silence of only a few persons present. Traversing the train slowly and checking compartment after half an hour he finds a sight that is new to the rest, a boy sitting alone and sketching quietness and intrigue indeed...
A half an hour after the train has left a small knock can be heard on the door and slowly being opened, a tall and lanky boy with beige skin, wearing dark brown trousers and a grey turtleneck sweater. His face is oval with a sharp jawline and pointed chin, a mess of long wavy and slightly curled, ginger red hair on top of his face. His light blue eyes scouring the compartment slowly before looking on you and saying:
"I am sorry to disturb your trip but would you mind if I joined your compartment? The rest of the train is quite full with more..... energetic people" The word energetic seems to be drawn out and unsure as a description

A brand new day.
Violet walked anxiously through the corridors of the Hogwarts Express. Students of all ages went past her and she nervously held to her bag. She noticed the sweat of her fingers and got bumped once in a while by students running carelessly through the train corridors. She felt a little alone and yet excited about the huge steamtrain, the noble interior aswell as all the exciting new things to discover. A boy held a huge rat in his hand and bragged to his friends about it, while here and there small groups of students already occupied compartments within the wagons.
Some loud boy shouted through the corridor "Hey Michael looks like Peter got a new Pet this summer, come over here." He waved and chapped his friends shoulder who proudly demonstrated how his rat went from one hand over his shoulder to the other. The crowd cheered and Violet turned away from the spectacle on the look out for a more calm part of the train.
A few more wagons to the end of the train the train suddenly started moving after a whistle was heard. Panicking she looked around and saw a boy standing in the door of one of the compartments. "Hey can I sit in your compartment please, all are occupied already." she said with a tearful voice. The stress that built up on her was just too much.

A brand new day.
Atlas knew that the Hogwarts Express was where lifetime friendships could be made, that would help him in his future life. He’d read countless stories of the sort, and hoped he too would find the right compartment. Seeing the express first hand was amazing, and so was knowing that in a few short hours, he’d be at Hogwarts, and finally properly learning magic.
“Be safe, be strong, and protect each other,” Atlas’s foster dad said, as he and his foster siblings nodded solemnly, and the adults left them to their devices. Nacita put an arm around her twin, Rogan, whispering something to him, as they set off to the train together. Atlas followed, but they went their separate ways. He walked past the compartments, judging each student with a glance, to see where he should sit. He of course didn’t actually know anything about them, but took various guesses that were probably mostly wrong. But seats were filling up, and Atlas knew he wouldn’t sit by himself.
He briefly passed where his foster siblings were sitting together, talking to two other students and his gaze hardened. Certainly not there, then. So he walked for a little longer. Now he could see the end of the train, and he sighed. He didn’t know which compartment he was going to benefit from, so maybe he ought to just pick a random one. He jumped as the train whistle sounded, knowing the train would begin to move soon.
He knocked on the door to a compartment where 3 other students had sat down, all seemingly first years like himself. “May I sit here?” he asked, a good bit nervous but keeping it out of his expression and tone for the most part.

A brand new day.
Ivan noticing the young girl looked her over slowly noticing her clothing and her looks before finally taking in the rest of his surroundings and seeing that they are for one blocking the hallway and for two they should probably sit down.
He looks inside and with a small smile says says "Sorry, but it seems that we will have to join you, like it or not" he let's in the girl first allowing her to sit, before seating himself after getting a book from his trunk and then stowing it away.
He smiled at both of them and said"Right, Ivan Solarus, if we are going to spend a day in this ancient locomotive, might as well share our names" he nods to himself as if everything was done correctly and opens the book crossing over his legs and settling in to read at the seat next to the compartment door, the one looking towards the start of the train.
Hearing the knock he looked up nodded and after the door opened he said "I am here on the good will that the kind host over there" he points to the other boy in the compartment "I would recommend you sit, but if he says he doesn't want us, well then we all have to move"
he looks down continuing to read his book

A brand new day.
Atlas got a closer look at the students, watching the one that was pointed to sketch, while the girl seemed a bit shaken up, and one who had spoke read. He sat down, close to the window on one side of the compartment, since no one had taken that seat yet.
“Alright, thank you. I’m Atlas Nallum, and you are?” he asked, not having been present when Ivan introduced himself. Hopefully he wouldn’t just get kicked out, because that would be horribly embarrassing. He had to find out what made these students tick and see if they’d fit into his path. “And what house are you hoping for? I want Gryffindor.”
Though not many around him would agree, Atlas felt he was suited for the Gryffindor house because he had bold goals and wanted to benefit all of wizardkind while elevating himself. Though he grudgingly admitted that he could also fit into Slytherin, which wouldn’t be bad either. Just nothing else.
He decided to get a book from his own trunk, and lean on the window some to get comfortable. Just a regular novel. He liked history and magic books just fine, and knew he should learn as much as possible to excel at Hogwarts, but he also enjoyed getting lost in fiction.

A brand new day.
The boy standing outside of the compartment smiled and made way for Violet, she sat down on the right hand corner of the compartment and let her bag down onto the floor. "Thank you im Violet". She tried to say but the words wouldnt right come out. Dont cry now! DONT CRY NOW! she scolded herself and took a deep breath.
The boy infront of her introduced himself
Suddenly a knocking was heard on the door, a young boy shifted the compartment door aside and asked if he could sit here. Again it was the lanky boy that took up the conversation
"What is Gryffindor? I thought were going to Hogwarts a school for wizards and witches?"
With big eyes she realized how clueless she must have sounded and quickly put her hand at the mouth to keep it shut.
"Is it your first time going to Hogwarts?" She asked looking into the direction of Ivan, he seemed so calm, trying to get a grasp at what the book was about he held in his hands.
Her legs swinged in the air and she started looking around in the wagon.
The boy infront of her introduced himself
and she wiped her eyes, having caught composure again she decided to properly introduce herself this time. "Hey I am Violet, thanks for allowing me into your compartment. I have never felt so anxious before and its my first time travelling alone.""Right, Ivan Solarus, if we are going to spend a day in this ancient locomotive, might as well share our names"

He opened the conversation as he also took out a book out of his trunk.“Alright, thank you. I’m Atlas Nallum, and you are?”
Violet watched the two and decided she would take the moment to ask a few questions.“And what house are you hoping for? I want Gryffindor.”

A brand new day.
Ivan nodded and smiled "Pleasure to meet you, and don't worry about the travel, while this ancient locomotive will be slow the trip I will guess for most of first years will be first time traveling alone for a long while""Hey I am Violet, thanks for allowing me into your compartment. I have never felt so anxious before and its my first time traveling alone."
Ivan set in silence reading his book even after the question was asked waiting for a few minutes to presumably finish his paragraph or page.
Finally speaking up and nodding to Atlas "Ivan Solarus, as of the houses, I will wait and see, maybe the magical world will surprise me, maybe it wont" looking towards the Violet
"What is Gryffindor? I thought were going to Hogwarts a school for wizards and witches?"

"Is it your first time going to Hogwarts?" She asked looking into the direction of Ivan, he seemed so calm, trying to get a grasp at what the book was about he held in his hands.
Ivan placed a bookmark in his book and, flipped to the end of the book, took out a piece of paper stored there, got a a pen from his pocket, wrote down a few things and finally looked up and outside at the passing landscape before finally holding up his copy of "A History of Magic" passing it to Violet and saying "House, yes, yes."
Smiling at his cryptic answer he starts explaining "I read up a bit, the history of the magical world, as well the one of Hogwarts, both books we were supposed to buy for the supplies, Gryffindor is one of the 4 "houses" that exist something like a class in essence, but we are sorted according to something or someone I skipped through that information on purpose. And yes we are going to Hogwarts the too long to repeat name school. And yes it is my first time, reading up could be good to be prepared more he smiles and takes a long breath before saying "Having read about the blood issues and the last war, just wanted to say. I don't have a clue. I am adopted by non magicals, and have been raised without magic. If that means anything to any of you "
He takes a long breath, looking at his paper and then looking at the other two boys he ask
"Any of you know if the Gringotts offers some way to check you family tree with magics, some sort of a DNA swab or genetics test, but for magicals? Are there any books you would recommend to read as a new person in magic?"
Now without his book or a distraction he is obviusly figeting with his pen clicking it at odd intervals and spinning it around, waiting...

A brand new day.
Michael realized that he wasn’t alone when he heard a door close, and a voice ask,
Michael focused on Ivan when he took a long breath and looked at his paper, then at the two boys and asked,
“No, I only read some of the school books before the train. And I’ve also been raised without magic, and I don’t know about magic DNA.” Michael nervously started tapping his pencil against his leg, and offered,
“I could try to find out, if you’d like.” Michael thought briefly, then quickly turned to the girl and said, apologetically,
“Oh, and I didn’t quite catch your name. Sorry. And do any of you have preferred pronouns?”
He was deciding whether to answer when another voice said,“May I sit here?”
Michael was trying to figure out who the host was that voice number two was talking about, and realized that it was probably him, because he was here first. When voice number one asked,"I am here on the good will that the kind host over there. I would recommend you sit, but if he says he doesn't want us, well then we all have to move"
There was a short pause, and then voice one, apparently Atlas Nallum, continued,“Alright, thank you. I’m Atlas Nallum, and you are?”
A couple minutes passed where Michael thought about the question, even though it probably wasn’t directed at him, then the other voice answered,“And what house are you hoping for? I want Gryffindor.”
Michael had deduced that he himself was probably Ravenclaw or Slytherin, and was about to join the conversation when another voice, this one more feminine than the others, asked,"Ivan Solarus, as of the houses, I will wait and see, maybe the magical world will surprise me, maybe it wont"
The voice paused, then added,"What is Gryffindor? I thought were going to Hogwarts a school for wizards and witches?"
There was a papery sound, then the sound of a pen on paper, it’s smoother sounding than pencil, and then Ivan started speaking. Michael listened to him and finished his sketch, the scene depicted exactly like what he saw earlier. He grinned and lowered his sketchbook, and looked up at Ivan, who was smiling, then stopped when he mentioned a war. Ivan continued,"Is it your first time going to Hogwarts?"
Michael absorbed the information and thought about it. If Ivan was adopted, then something bad probably happened when he was younger. And if he’s been raised without magic, that implies that you can be raised with it. So other students might be less shocked about magic, and might rub it in someone’s face.I am adopted by non magicals, and have been raised without magic. If that means anything to any of you "
Michael focused on Ivan when he took a long breath and looked at his paper, then at the two boys and asked,
Michael watched as Ivan fidgeted with his pen, clicking and spinning it, waiting, and decided to answer."Any of you know if the Gringotts offers some way to check you family tree with magics, some sort of a DNA swab or genetics test, but for magicals? Are there any books you would recommend to read as a new person in magic?"

A brand new day.
Violet took the book Ivan handed her over and started browsing the pages. Witch Burnings in medieval times, Wizard council, Paragraphs, Key-Moments in the History of magic, wow this book really IS boring. But where is Hogwarts? She flipped open the page where the Bookmark was in. Now we are getting closer to it, seems like Hogwarts founding is just briefly explained.
Ivan said
She looked outside the Window and noticed the silent boy next to her had turned to her direction and looked like he expected something of her.
"Hey youre finally awake, I thought you had fallen asleep, my name is Violet nice to meet you." The girl turned a litte so she could face everybody in the compartment and crossed her legs in tailor fashion the book still sitting on her lap.
Ivan said
Violet looked up from the book as he said that his parents were non-magicals. So its not only me I guess. Bummer I could really have been more prepared for this. Lets hope my house is something good. She continued watching Ivan as he asked another question but Violet completly overheard it. He is soo handsome and really polite too. She felt how her face got warm and quickly looked back down onto the book. Hopefully he didnt notice it. Lets see if I can find out more about this school. Violet regretted that she didnt pay the things they bought in London more attention but her father demanded that she remained focused on her current school until the end of the year. "To learn the basics" as he said when he squatted down before her and looked into her eyes while holding her shoulder."House, yes, yes."
Smiling at his cryptic answer he starts explaining "I read up a bit, the history of the magical world, as well the one of Hogwarts, both books we were supposed to buy for the supplies, Gryffindor is one of the 4 'houses' that exist something like a class in essence, but we are sorted according to something or someone I skipped through that information on purpose.
