Late For Supper But Still On Time
Dinner and photo buddies with @Willow Greene
On their way from the Grounds and into the Entrance of the castle, Simon told her a little about himself. He told her about his favorite colors being navy blue and gold and how he loved music. Adored music. ...Music was kind of his everything. He told her about his Aunt Maggie and how he found her to be absolutely amazing and he was happy he lived with her, and he told her about how he was from London, the South Kensington area - right in the mix of the big city.
When they got to the Great Hall, students were already well into their meal but desserts had yet to appear on the tables so they weren't that late. Simon glanced over to his table, one he didn't sit at too frequently, and then over to the Slytherin table. Would they welcome a Hufflepuff? Surely they would over a Gryffindor but still he wasn't too sure.
"Come, sit at the badger table," he offered. Surely the Hufflepuffs wouldn't mind a visitor and he motioned for her to take a seat (since he couldn't pull out a chair for her) and then sat down next to where the space was. He didn't come here too often, as he wasn't a huge fan of eating. He would eat and just always feel hungry. Forever hungry. It was this constant in his life that he just grew to accept as normal.
"They waited on us. Didn't even start serving dessert yet," which was good. Simon took a bit of the meat and placed it on his plate before taking a sip of water from one of the goblets.
"To new friendships," he said, bringing the golden cup closer. He then held it up so the two could toast to their new friendship.
"You know, you mentioned being a model back out on the Grounds. It got me thinking..." he paused. He was going to say something earlier but maybe it sounded silly. No, he had already begun, he might as well go ahead now. "What if you let me borrow that camera of yours and you do some modeling? You can show me how to take a really nice picture and we can send it home to your family for the holidays. Then you could do the same with me to send to my aunt. I can write to her to send me some books on film development as well as the chemicals." None of that had to be done by technology or electricity so it could be done in one of the dark abandoned classrooms or closets within the school.

Late For Supper But Still On Time
This hadn't been Willow's first time in the Great Hall but it surely was the first time she wasn't sitting alone. She was so excited that they hadn't started dessert yet as that was her favorite part of the day. She loved sweet treats, especially cookies. Specifically double chocolate chip ones. Her and her mother make them together every winter. As she sat down, she felt eyes on her but she ignored them to the best of her ability and listened to Simon. "That's a really great idea Simon! I'm sure your Aunt would love that. And it's really not that hard to take good pictures. You just need to get good angles and lighting. I'll teach you to be a professional just like me." Willow picked up her camera and, with her mouth filled with cookies, showed Simon all the parts of a camera, how they work, and what they were used for. "But really the only part you need to know about is the button that takes the picture.. It's right here on top."
Willow tried thinking of places on the grounds that would be a good backdrop for their photos. The lake would be pretty but she felt that it wasn't quite the right vibe for what she was looking for. The courtyard, boring, some random corridor, boring, she thought and thought and finally "The astronomy tower!" she exclaimed loudly, stealing her a few dirty looks from people around her. She lowered her voice to a whisper. "What about the astronomy tower to take the pictures? While it's dark of course. Hopefully there's good lighting.. What would I wear? What would you wear? What if the pictures don't turn out good? No, they'll be fine. At least mine will. I'm not so sure about yours. She said the last part as a joke of course and quickly stopped talking once she realized she was rambling. Once she started talking with someone she was comfortable with, she had trouble stopping sometimes.

He listened as she explained a little bit about the camera but said the most important was the button right on top. He hadn't actually held a camera like hers before, just one of those point and shoot sort of digital cameras - and then his iPhone's camera. Each had a button though that you pushed to actually take the photograph so he felt that he could do it. He just had to think about composition and he was already starting to learn that from his drawing and painting courses with fellow Hufflepuff, Violet Best.
"We have to obtain permission for the Astronomy Tower though. Why not out on the Grounds? There's the large wooden door of the castle, over to the left of the Quidditch Pitch is rather interesting, and we wouldn't have to worry about the professor or students getting in the way because there's more than enough space. Then we can develop everything in Second Floor's Abandoned Lavatory." It would provide them with some running water, which he knew was needed for processing the photographs. He had seen it on a movie a time or two.
"I'm going to go write my Aunt right now to send us what we need and check the Library for a few things." No, they wouldn't be able to use an enlarger as their equipment but they could create something that would hold their negatives once processed so that they could cast Lumos and experiment with creating the photographs that way. It was a mix between muggle know-how and the wizarding world and he was excited for it. "Let's me outside the Entrance tomorrow for the photo shoot. Bring your camera and plenty of film!"
